Anyone heard about Leach

possibly going to Arkansas? I personally think it is stupid. I don't really know why he would leave when you look at the team we have coming back next year. Also, when you see how Arkansas fans had treated Houston Nutt while he was at Arkansas, it was really pitiful. They treated that poor guy like crap, and I don't blame him one bit for leaving. I really believe that Leach is satisfied in Lubbock. The fans are great, and they accept his wierd interests (Pirates). Leach has everything put into place as far as our team goes. We have a great offense with 10 of 11 coming back. The defense really did make strides last year and we are now in a good situation about either hiring Ruffin as the full-time DC or bringing in someone that we really want.

So, what do all of you think?

Uhhh

he is not going anywhere - for now - he might take a trip to ARK to recruit - we've been doing battle with Nutt over some prized recruits in that state - so I think any rumors of time spent in ARK are likely recruiting trips and not coaching visits - just a thought off the top of my little brain

keeping Leach

If he really thinks about it what place would be better for him than Tech? UCLA doesn't pay well and I wonder if it is to PC for him. ARK is a totally unrealistic place for any coach not named Broyles. Nebraska, South Mississippi, or GA Tech? With what he will make in the next few years and if we aleast win 10 games next year(he probably will get a raise) where does he really go and where does Tech really go? Stay put Leach and Tech we need to keep him!!!!!!

Keeping Leach

Anybody sick of the rumor mill every year over Leach. This is becoming too much of a habit. Leach is thought of because he is offense, these "Insiders" especially on ESPN are just plain throwing stuff against the wall to see if it will stick. I personally think Leach is pretty open and you will know if he is interviewing somewhere else.

Coach Leach

I live in Arkansas and the talk here on the radio yesterday was that Leach is a top contender for Nutt's replacement! I haven't seen or read anything from you guys or anyone else saying that Leach was even interested. I sure hope he doesn't leave as we need him to stay at Tech.

Arkansas, and I try to listen to the radio when I get the chance. Yesterday I made a special point to tune in as it was the day after Nutt quit. The hosts of Arkansas sports radio network called "drivetime sports" seem to believe that Leach is the top candidate. They said that the reason why is becuase Leach has ties to the new Athletic Director at Arkansas, Jeff Long. Apparently, they worked together when Leach as at Oklahoma.

To me, all this means is that Arkansas want's Leach. I really don't think that Leach is interested in Arkansas....at least I hope not!

Coach Leach

If he is a top candidate I hope he doesn't consider it! I know that I am prejudice towards Tech but I do not think that the Arkansas job is a better job just because they are in the SEC. Besides Arkansas would have to pay him more than he is making now and that would probably be at least twice what Nutt was making. I argue this fact with my friends all the time. I think that the Arkansas job is way over rated. If Leach ever leaves he needs to hold out for a much better job and a place that is much easier to recruit the top tier athlete. I really hope he stays at Tech!
I listen to ARSN 96.3 on my way home and all that guy does and has done is make fun of Leach. Makes me sick because he absolutely doesn't know what he is talking about.

I totally agree

with you man. I think that Leach would be walking into a terrible situation. The Arkansas job isn't very good due to the state of their current program. There has been so much drama and turmoil ever since Mustain decided to come there. When he left, it got even worse. Leach would be held to such a high standard at Arkansas, and I'm just not sure that their program is good enough for him to succeed there.

Also, Arkansas current roster has nothing that can work with Leach's style. Their receivers suck, but they do have a great running game. Their defense could be compared to the defense at Tech, not that good.
