Mike Leach Will Not Go To UCLA!
I saw on UCLA website that Coach Mike Leach will not be consider he is in shallow water that UCLA.
Don't think he can swim the Deep water. So it looks
like Coach Mike Leach will be staying at Texas Tech football.Coach Mike Leach has not be offer or talked to by any other Divison 1 school. So he will be staying unless the news report break after the season that when we will know something
by that time. But for now he staying put at Texas Tech guys so if somebody is close to the information about Coach Mike Leach if he leaving or staying i would like to know because he a good coach for Texas Tech Red Raiders.8-4 this year not bad at all Raiders got a good chance to beat UVA in the Gator Bowl.I hope that this helps kill the rumors that are going around Coach Mike Leach!
P.S. I have enjoy DTN. Seth thanks your friend,
Matthew! Go RED RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheesh
This has already been put to bed three times!
Mike will never ever go to UCLA. Let me make it very clear.
Mike has said that the only two programs which would get him away from Tech is USC and BYU.
With the BYU job Leach made it very clear that they had to cough up more money than he is making here at Tech. Something BYU can not do which Leach has already commented on.
So unless the USC position suddenly comes open, Leach will not be leaving Tech. That is the truth.
Leach likes it in Lubbock. Lubbock also has one of the 5 mormon temples outside of Utah. The numbers of Mormans around Lubbock is rather large and that number keeps increasing every year. In fact, Lubbock has the 4th largest FLDS congregations outside of Utah and Arizona.
Leach has made it very very clear. He has spoken on this subject several times. He has been honest about where he would leave to. Leach will stay at Tech. People seem to forget that a couple of years back he turned down a job that did offer more money than Tech. But it was to a school not on his dream list of 2.
So unless, USC or BYU suddenly pops up Leach is going no where. Read more here in Red Raider boards than the gosip prone other boards out there.
Keep in mind that Leach is always on someones short list every year. So people should stop panicing or looking for some controversy where there is none.

More than anything...
His strong contract is what keeps all but about 15 schools from even having a chance with him. Then you can dwindle those down for various reasons to a list of less that 10 schools in the country that could take Mike if they wanted him. UCLA does not make that list due to the lack of support for athletics by the hippies in CA state government.
IMO.

Sheesh its not that dificult people. Just ask Mike in the off season what other schools would he like to coach at and what type of situation would lead to him leaving.
I listen to Mike a couple of years ago after the California win. I am sure someone can search it out the interview where he made the comments I am refering to. As to which reported he gave that answer to, I am not sure. Its been a few years.
But Mike did say USC and BYU. He then had to comment on the BYU issue when the BYU job came open and he did apply. Make no illusions about it. Mike does want to coach at BYU as long as they pay at a certain level which he has said was a bit more than here at Tech.
I understand that. Why take a job that could put harm you financially over time. Also WAC is a dead end job in general for a head coach. USC is the only other job Mke wants. Has to do with where the school is located along with money and it was the team Mike liked while in California.
Just simply ask Mike. That's what I do.

Oh, Ok
I'm just a guy in California trying to read up on his team, not Mr. Connections. I was hoping you could tell me where you read that so I could read it too, that's all.

Ah, good knowledge.
Maybe my family can get me the number or I'll try to look it up when I'm back for the holidays.
I'll wait until after the Gator Bowl to call him though, he's got to figure out those Cavaliers defensive schemes.

Also
So the reporters in California are slinging BS!
Mike has not talked to UCLA and will not contact them as he does not like UCLA.
Like I said before, there is lots of people putting Mike on their lists and then having to deal with the facts as they come out.
UCLA has already three times said they have not contacted Mike. In fact, UCLA has only talked to three people for the head coaching job. Pac 10 teams want Pro coaches. That is their trend right now. Pro coaches rarely workout in the college ranks. More have failed that have not.
