I'm Back
I'm back, but I'm a little tired. I'll be working tonight on a couple of things. I've been telling myself that a bad win is better that a good loss every day of the week. It still doesn't make me feel better. I hope to have some content up later tonight.

i didn’t see the game, was camping.
I’m watching it now. just saw the personal foul, late hit and that was the worst call i’ve seen: it was a great play, ganz was still fighting to stay up so williams (i think it was) went to push him down. ganz went down, williams pulled up and barely touched him.
baaad call.

That was an awful
call, there was a similar call during the TX/OU game where it was also called on OU.

bad hold. the blocked kick:
laces inside, right where carona made contact with it. Snap into la’cour’s body as well.
Batch is SO much better a runner than woods. Woods is great when he has space but he rarely ever falls forward. I mean, the best running back will always gain a yard. I think batch is that kind of runner but woods isn’t. ah well.
Our front 4 defense is incredible at pass rush but they need help, either a secondary that can cover well or a set of blitzes from the linebackers that can get to the QB quick.
Nebraska had the perfect game called: keep the offense moving with short passes and productive runs. keep the score low and you keep your team in a position to win.

because it takes us 3 tries to get into the endzone every time we have it 1st and goal from the 1-3.
I’m telling you, carona’s problems aren’t wholly his own. he needs a better holder that he can trust to get the kick down in rythm. He’s overthinking it.. That said, I think we should have him doing kickoffs and long field goals and fowler doing XP’s for a bit.

Well...
It takes more tries when you feel like you can depend on another down. If we were passing it on that down I have little doubt we’d complete over 50% of our attempts.
In any event, the magic number isn’t 50, since Carona is so far below 100 on PATs.

Carona
Sorry you can’t tell me Carona’s problems are with the holder. I know their are timing issues, but that is pretty much a cop out. I don’t even want Carona kicking off. Tell me the last time he has kicked it into the endzone without a 20 mph wind behind him. I am not saying Carona isn’t the answer next year, he just needs work he is a freshman. By the way didn’t Trileca have LaCour as a holder last year and he didn’t seem to have a problem. Carona kicks the ball way way too low period. An XP you can hit almost blindfolded and not get it blocked. His mental edge is toast right now. You can’t put him back out there.

Amendola.
Trilca and Amendola had perfect timing and the center was right one. the biggest problem with the hold is that the kicker is left-footed but the snapper is still snapping the ball with the trajectory for a right-footed kicker. La’cour, a punter, doesn’t have fast enough hands to get the ball down with any consistency.
I really do think carona can be a productive kicker for us, it’s just going to take time, development, and maybe the hiring of a kicking clinician for him to get his form in line. We also should have a WR or QB holding for him: fast hands = better at getting kicks down, on time, with the right lace positioning.
With carona staying in and getting his chances, it seems as if Leach is willing to throw the kid to the fire and take his lumps. Seems the fanbase doesn’t like it and Carona’s the scapegoat for everything that is wrong with the team. He needs improvement, fast, but he’s not the only reason why we’ll have problems.

The Yips
are deadly for a kicker and Carona has them in a big way. In a year when we’re going to need every shred of advantage and every single point to hang with tough competition, it is probably not ideal to have a kicker whose trajectory is way too low and whose confidence has to be in tatters. The Carona Problem, however, is secondary to a defense that, while unable to stop a fairly vanilla west coast attack, has an excellent doormat impression up its sleeve that’s sure to draw big laughs at parties.
