Putting it all together...

   1. Synopsis of the game: Tech finally puts together 4 quarters of football. Not that they score on every drive, or that they don’t have a turnover, but they put together a strong offensive and strong defensive showing.
   2. Offensive MVP: Graham Harrell
   3. Defensive MVP: Dixon
   4. Final Score: Texas Tech 42, Kansas 28

How does Tech get to 48? 6 converted XPs on 6 TDs and 2 FGs? That would be great if it happened.

haha nope Tech scores 7 touchdowns and 6 XP’s KU gets 45 not with 6 tds and 1 fg, but rather with 6 touchdowns, 1 2pt conversion (to bring themselves to within a FG at the end of the game), and a 2pt conversion on our blocked XP. And i am not even kind of joking

Stepping up

1. Tech’s defense plays a solid game and the offense is pure Texas Tech pass sprinkled with a healthy dose of running the ball.

2. OVP Batch

3. DVP Wall – 2 ints

4. Final Score: Tech 56 Kansas 28

We have owned KU

From the days of Gale Sayers, great KU running back, Tech has always rung the bell vs KU.

1. Kansas Defense was wore out by oover 100 plays by OU last week. Tech offense can not be stopped unless they stop themselves. KU secondary is missing some key components to be as good as last year. Tech secondary hasn’t been steller either, but OU was able to get to Reesing. Tech wins!

2. OVP…Eric Morris

3. DVP’s…Tech’s defensive line.

Final Score…Texas Tech 36
                        Kansas 21

Making a statement

1. More balanced attack proves hard to stop. Tech finally wins on the road against a ranked opponent.
2. OVP – Batch (124 yards rushing, 55 receiving)
3. DVP – Charbonnet (2 INT’s, 1 for TD)

Final Score – 48 – 21 Tech

Let's Hope

What a difference in the game if the defense could come up with some points. Nice thought.

Hey, Kansas fan here

I replied to the 5 reasons Kansas can win post but saw that it isn’t near the top anymore so thought I’d post on this thread to maybe get some feedback:

Feel free to come over to Rock Chalk Talk and voice your opinions till tomorrow morning, we’ve already had a couple Tech fans over there voicing good opinions. http://www.rockchalktalk.com/

Very nice write up here. A few responses fromm this side

1. You’re dead on about Meier and Briscoe. As you may or may not know, Meier is the backup Quarterback and started 5 or so games as a freshman before giving up the reigns to Reesing after injuries. He is such a great athlete that Mangino had to get him on the field somewhere. He did last year as a receiver and hasn’t looked back (it’s hard to believe that Meier still practices with the QB’s 90% of the time). He knows where everyone on the field is supposed to be and has some of the most sure-hands of any college receiver I’ve seen….. Just check out this catch guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uemzqLwbnv8

Briscoe, a sophomore is a poor-mans Michael Crabtree. Don’t jump all over me, I know Crabtree is better and he’s proved it, but Briscoe is a couple steps behind him and the other talented guys for one of the best WR in the Big 12.

2. No doubt that QB pressure is going to be key. Personally, I don’t think we can get to Harrell unless we blitz some LB’s. The problem there, is that now Tech will have an extra receiver open and will move the ball all day. This has been KU’s biggest problem all year. The secondary of KU is not as bad as people want to make them, it’s just the pass-rush that has been so lacking that forces our secondary to cover for 5-6 seconds. This to me, is the key to game.

3. You hit it on the head. Reesing is amazing. For KU’s sake, I hope you Tech fans get to see exactly what I’m talking about. If you haven’t already, check out this play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOTTfupfp6o

4. Can’t say I know much about your Pass D so I won’t speak to it. What I will say I think is key, is your ability to stop our run game. I’m hoping that Mangino tries to get the ground game going and control some clock. If Tech’s D steps up and stops a new-found KU run game, KU will have a long day.

5. My biased opinion, KU gets the job done at home and squeaks out a victory. If this game is in Lubbock, I think Tech pulls it out. It could definitely go either way, though. Should be a real fun one, and I’ll be tailgating early in the morning and hopefully in the stadium if I can find a ticket.

Hey, and welcome.

I think y’all have a great team, and I was impressed with your offense the two times I have listened to Kansas play this year. I still think, and this is my opinion, that you have some serious problems on defense. I know that Tech does too, but I have also watched Tech step up when they absolutely had to in order to win games we normally used to lose. That said, Tech will have to put it all together this week in order to prove they are who they say they are. I think if Tech is able to put a full four quarters together, that this could be a really bad day for the KU defense. I think Kansas scores a bit (maybe 4 TDs), but it shouldn’t be enough to win the game. As I said over at Rock, Chalk – Kansas has a great team, and Mangino has done a great job there, particularly the last two years. You guys have won 17 of your last 20 games, and that is really something in the Big 12. I think you lose this game, though, and then go on to win 3 of the next 4, culminating (I hope) with a big win against Missouri.

Of course, as you aid, that is my biased opinion.

Drink one for ol’ antiswarm while your tailgating there, and y’all be kind to any Techsans you see.

Peace

Expect a Shocker

I expect Tech to win big this weekend. I think all the talk about it being a close game is a little far fetched. Tech has always beaten these guys sort of like A&M. Leach isn’t going to let this team ruin our season before facing Texas. The defense will show up Saturday and force turn-overs. I expect a whole lot more aggressive play and a sealed arly win in the 3rd qtr.
I hope I’m right!!!

WE WIN

Tech smashed the rock chalks into small child like pieces. Crabtree goes off with a vengence. Harrell gets 6 Passing TDs, 4 to Crabs. Defense gets all sorts of crazy and Riesing runs for his life all game long.

OMVP: Crabtree
DMVP: Dixon(3 Sacks), McBloodbath (2ints)

Tech wins 42 – 17

secret to success

The secret to tech winning this football game is going to depend on the D-line
pass rush. If Brandon Williams can rearrange the quarterbacks helmet early in
the game, presto , we win! Nobody will touch Harrell the whole game, thanks to
the nations best offensive line lead by Brandon Carter.

Tech

I think Tech plays better when they are not the favorit in match ups like this. Tech loves the underdog us against the world roll. If you have not been watching any TV, everyone I have seen is picking Kansas because Tech’s defence. Am I missing something about Kansas defence being better.

Secondary steps up and forces two turnovers.

Tech has always won in Lawerence

There is no reason to think it will not happen again. Kansas is not the team of last year and Kansas has been exposed to what are the real holes of both offense and defense.

Tech will win by 16 points. As I said before, Montana Mikes is a good place for Tech fans to meet afterwards for some good BBQ and Steaks and repose after a good victory.
Much like Texas coaches and fans like to use Texas Land and Cattle in Lubbock. Montana Mikes is a good place for Tech fans in Lawerence.

Its on 1015 Iowa Street. So Go Tech Beat Kansas have have a good time afterwards.

Ugh

I’m gonna get skewered for this…but I think KU will take advantage of our secondary like no other team has yet. I see Reesing avoiding our d-line enough to complete throws to Meir and Dezmon. We lose twice this year and this is one of them.

Just a gut feeling I have on this game – and if I’m wrong I will happily take my beating like a man. But from the beginning of the week until today, I’ve changed my mind from a decent Tech win to a narrow Tech loss. Praying I’m wrong…just wait for my prediction next week ; )
