Typical espn "analysts"...
So I just saw the halftime show of the Boise State game and Tech got some exposure with the Matt Williams kicking affair. They showed the footage from his halftime kick and then Lou Holtz talked about how he once put an ad in the school paper and snagged a quality long snapper who ended up playing four years for him. I just thought that was interesting. (And he managed not to compare him to any Nazis).
Anyhow, the reason I'm really writing is what they said a few minutes later when Lou and Mark May were making their picks for this Saturday's biggest matchups. When asked about Tech, Lou went with Tech and talked about the offense being hard to slow down. He also cited Kansas' ineffective running game, which is fair. Next, Mark May laughed and said "Tech's running game is about as effective as Kansas." Typical ignorant mainstream media. If he had any knowledge of Tech at all, he would have known that the running game is what is making the passing game so much more dangerous this year.

I just wanted to scream at the tv. Tell me how these even compare. Unless you're a gorilla name Koko, the numbers are not even in the same ballpark.
But that doesn't matter if you don't bother doing your homework.
Then the only reason he gave for his pick of Kansas was the play of WR Briscoe. Yeah Briscoe had an outstanding game last week, but he was acting as if Tech doesn't have about 6 top-notch receivers (including THE most talented receiver). Plus, he totally ignored their more consistent receiver Kerry Meier.
It just irks me to no end. If you are going to be an "analyst", do some analyzing before you start running your mouth and don't just read a headline and make assumptions. If you want to pick Kansas, I don't care. In fact, I think this game could go to either team. But at least make educated remarks about teams if you're actually going to talk about someone other than USC, Ohio State, Florida, Notre 'what have you done lately?' Dame, yada yada yada.
Rant over.

Well, really, Tech and KU are relatively similar in overall rushing this year…
- TTU 138 yds/game
- KU 125 yds/game
Pretty much the same at the end of the day. Not sure why you’re so bent out of shape.
Speaking of…Why do Tech fans feel so freaking slighted all the time by the media? I see and read plenty of positive things out there. Some of you are starting to sound like Aggies.
I think the biggest problem with college football analysis these days is that these guys have to be on TV all the time. They’re taping shows all day, doing CFL, pre-game, half-time and post-game shows. It’s a lot of time that’s taken away from actually researching their work.
I’m not excusing them, it’s their job and they aren’t getting it done. I’m just saying that ESPN, in trying to cover everything all the time, hurts its ability to cover anything well at any time.
After all is said and done, more is said than done.
I heard May say Harrell’s completion numbers were getting close to McCoy-ish. I’m going to need a TV repairman now. Can we say “obscene yards per play”? We can, May can’t. I think Lou Holtz could make most of the “passes” McCoy’s getting away with in the stat books.
Even though these Cable guys are now just desk jockeys, a big non-traditional up and comer like Tech deserves the research that Texas and company gets. If fans are tuning in to watch Tech (which they are), the ESPN guys need to act on that trend and come up with a better, more accurate report to match.
My new sig: UT stands for University of Tennesse
Here are ESPN’s “USC-Texas-Any SEC School-Ohio State” Worst Homers:
1) Mark May
2) Lou Holtz
3) Eric Casillias
4) Todd McShay
5) Lee Corso
These guys will continue to champion any of these teams for the same reasons year in and year out. May and Holtz are the worst which I’m always baffled why ESPN pairs them together. Tech does get much love from Herbstreet, Jessie “the Bachelor” Palmer, Craig James (for obvious reason). Nevertheless, Tech’s awesome year is getting us into the discussion—in past years, Tech would not even get a mention.
One last thought, the last thing any of us want to sound like is an Aggie. However, we just want the same type of exposure other past BCS surprise teams received: think Boise State, Kansas (last year).
GO TECH!! BEAT TU.
