Question of the day
can I assemble a ceiling fan while watching tehe game…

Leach's favorite combo
is the White on Black…coincidence?

Woods & Batch!
Setting the tempo – very nice consecutive 1st downs.
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 2:39 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
they’re in a 4 man front, 7 in the box, and running the ball is eaaasy.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 2:40 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
did you guys see adam james in that big h spot?
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 2:41 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
TD!!! 7-0 two minutes in!
Nice play by Leong after dropping the previous ball.

anybody else miss the fade-to-Hicks?

When was the last time
we opened with that many consecutive runs? 1997?
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 2:43 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
A&M last year. the first 5 plays were runs.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 2:44 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
If we can run at will like that, I saw we do it allllll day long.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 2:43 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
son of a gun
you guys are busy. Wooooot. Nice to see leong get a td.

very windy
let’s see how he does with the wind at his back.
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 2:46 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
very very very conservative defense. also linebackers on their slot receiver
secondary just giving them wiiiide open zone.

mcneill is going to
have to adjust otherwise it could be a long day.

They could at least TRY a blitz to see what happens. Interesting to see if he goes that route.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 2:52 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
KSU O-line
Was really not providing that great of protection. That was Freeman getting rid of the ball quickly.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 2:53 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
yup. there were NO defenders anywhere near the receivers on that drive.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 2:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Reed shaken up
had some trouble on the next play…hope he’s ok
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 2:54 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Great catch by lewis
Graham throwing off his back foot

Good news
Is that Harrell looks very sharp

KSU D
Is showing cover 2 and then sliding a safety up
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 2:59 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I am loving this running aspect of our game. It seems purposeful instead of an afterthought. Great, great looks for Tech.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:00 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Good call on the screen
KSU D is over pursuing
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 3:02 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I hope Prince calls a blitz every play the rest of the game…this could get ugly if he does. Hasn’t worked hardly a lick yet.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:06 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
it’s caused 2 incompletions and forced TTU into a dink and dunk game. we had 3 3rd downs to convert.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:07 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Considering the number of plays we’ve run, I’d say it’s not working : )
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:08 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
by my count, that
was a 16 play drive, including penalty plays, against the wind.
Go Raiders . . .

GH is floating
balls outside, and that’s still worrisome, wonder if that’s a result of the wind.

1st 3rd down we’ve forced.
receiver was wide open, though.

I don’t understand this pass defense scheme at all
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 3:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
against wall.
wall has been beaten up a few times so far.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Now we can get a little score separation if we stay on track.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:11 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
unreal – and put the defense in an awful position
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 3:15 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
dammit leach.
when are you going to learn.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:15 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
and why does our scat back have the ball. batch has the strength to get that over.
also wall beaten again.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:16 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
1st quarter thoughts:
offense: we’re killing ourselves if we don’t score on an offensive possession.
defense: Wall specifically and the rest of the corners/safeties in general are being mauled in coverage.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:19 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Our coach gets in as much trouble as he bails us out. That was just a bad decision compounded by a terrible play call.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:19 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
yes. this is why mike will probably not find himself anywhere except TTU.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I understand going for it, given the wind, but it was the wrong play. I think they were really hoping they would jump offsides.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
That mentality was good when we were a 7-6 underdog team that had nothing to lose. Leach needs to pull his head out of his ass and realize when you have a lead you don’t go for it on 4th in your own effing territory.
by Red Raiderback on Oct 4, 2008 3:20 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
he was down. nice hold on that play: the defender tackled marlon williams.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:22 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's what you do
When you need ahalf-yard.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 3:25 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
That was a bad play call on 4th down for TT
by ccmachine on Oct 4, 2008 3:26 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
that play call was entirely decided by a few of leach’s predjudices: he has no confidence in his punter so he figured that a punt against the wind would go ~30 yards. He has no confidence in the qb sneak any more, harrell is the worst sneaking qb in the NCAA.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:27 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
sis harrel that bad
or is it that the only play they run from under center is the sneak?
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 3:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Certainly a better formation for running
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 3:32 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
He seemed really tentative on that kick though – not much leg into it. But he did make it.
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 3:35 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
he still takes a long time winding up: doesn’t start his motion until the hold is on the ground. takes between 1-2 seconds longer to get off the ground than it should.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:37 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I am HOPING that this time of possession advantage will pay off in the second half.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:36 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Soooo, is the D ready for UT and OU? Or even OSU, at this point?
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:39 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
rushing 4, dropping linebackers to 10 yards, but there is no one to cover there
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Freeman has an absolute howitzer of an arm.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:40 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
We score here, and I think we’ll see KState press and get a little flustered…and the floodgates should open. Let’s watch and see how this series plays out.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:42 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
This is where, if Tech steps on the throttle, the game should start to get away from KState.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:49 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
They’ve only really had one drive, if you look at it. It was a heck of a drive, though.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Need to control the clock, but continue to score.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yep…Kstate has had it less than 6 minutes.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:52 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Carona really does suck. Feel bad for him, but c’mon. Drill that through the endzone.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:53 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
that was absolutely not carona’s fault. i mean, the kick was short but that was a coverage error.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
welp, someone did call it: special teams is going to make the difference
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 3:53 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
If Tech can stop KSU here and get one more score before the half
they’ll be in good shape.
by ccmachine on Oct 4, 2008 3:54 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
We started out playing run, and they have had a pass game plan. We switched to cover it. Now they are going to be forced to pass.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 3:57 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, the line is getting a good push on Freeman.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:56 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Let’s start off with a few runs to keep them honest.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:56 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
This game is already over if Leach wasn’t an idiot.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 3:57 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
3 to 1 lead in time of possession is the story so far
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 4:00 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
yellow flags
are used by the game officials to indicate a penalty…sorry I had to :-P
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 4:08 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
much.
that’s the most likely way that we lose this year: beat ourselves with penalties and dumb coaching decisions.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 4:09 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Banks has been almost shut out this first half – only one catch for 17 on first drive
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 4:10 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
1) that’s why they are playing db
2) mcbath’s should have been caught, but that was a tough one.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
K-State seems totally deflated right now
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yep. Excellent push by the line. Of course, when the opponent abandons the run in the first qtr you can do that.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
the boo birds

by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 4:11 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Two drops in a row. Our lack of focus is starting to show.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:14 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Not this again
2 blatant drops in a row…it’s contagious.
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 4:15 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Hey, where’s that KState guy who laughed at the idea of Tech holding them to less than 16 points? I know there’s a second half to play, and they’ll probably score on our second team defense, but still…
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:16 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
yeah, they’ll score in the 3rd quarter to make this a bit closer.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 4:16 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Good catch by Crabtree
High throw by Harrell. Still not stepping into it.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 4:16 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
CRAAAAAABTREEEE!!!
Dang it, you beat me to it…well played

Harrell has 5 TDs in first half - not bad

Ceiling fan update
I got the blades put together in the first half. I have a feeling the rest will go much quicker in the 2nd.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 4:19 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
make sure
they’re all angled the same way…or you could do some experimenting with half one way, half the other. Maybe then you wouldn’t have to change the rotation in the winter. Keep me posted on the results :-P
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I did have to take one apart at the end of the 1st Q because it was upside down.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 4:25 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Defense stepped up big time after the first K-State TD drive - good for them
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 4:22 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Agreed. Still worried about our secondary. A lot. But so far, so good.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
the secondary seems like they’re starting to smell blood
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 4:24 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Once they started playing pass instead of run, it got alot better.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 4:26 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
4th and Short
Thoughts on lining up Crabtree (who played some QB in high school) at QB to sneak on 4th and inches? It seems to me that he would be a significant upgrade to Harrell on the sneak.
by ndockray001 on Oct 4, 2008 4:34 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I'm not too surprised
just expressing frustration.

Playing prevent on D
How can you line up deeper than the 1st down marker on a passing down?
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 4:44 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Looks like
KState is just setting things up for the rest of the season.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:45 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Any chance we stop Freeman on the upcoming sneak?
by ndockray001 on Oct 4, 2008 4:48 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
down by 24
and near midfield. What do you have to lose?
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 4:50 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
We need to get Freeman to cough it up
by ndockray001 on Oct 4, 2008 4:50 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
We need a corner to actually make a good play.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:50 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nope, or the other guys. They all suck.
This is actually a nice drive…
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:53 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is why
Tech is considered sketchy. They can’t focus an entire game. No way that they should have given up this drive. On mid-range passes and runs. Vanilla stuff we’re getting beat at now.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:54 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Tech was bad last year in 3rd quarters – Leach doesn’t seem to make good halftime adjustments or decisions it seems
by jeffinhouston on Oct 4, 2008 4:56 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
we’ve gone back to a very vanilla defense, a loose zone that is keeping the entire field in front of us.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 4:55 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
For the purpose of doing what, exactly? Letting them back in it?
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:56 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I guess I need ask you when we weren’t playing a very loose zone and vanilla defense this year?
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:58 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
2nd quarter.
it’s like McNeil decided to play prevent. because they decided that ksu’s offense wasn’t threatening enough.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 5:00 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
That drive looked wayyyyy too easy. Tech needs to focus. Problem is, KState took almost half a qtr to do it.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 4:55 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I’ll take it as long as the O comes out fired up and sharp
by ndockray001 on Oct 4, 2008 4:56 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
took almost half a qtr to do it.
When your ahead by this much, that’s a good thing. The clock is their worst enemy right now.

let’s get 2-3 more to close this game out.

Harrell looked goofy on that pass…yet another fourth down.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 5:17 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
throwing from his back foot
He’s back peddling to buy time and not stepping into the ball.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 5:21 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
that’s the first time I’ve ever seen Harrell pull off the hard count to draw of the d-line
by ndockray001 on Oct 4, 2008 5:18 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Just kick the freaking field goal. This bugs me, personally.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 5:24 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
I think this is a reason Tech players won’t ever recieve Heisman love. We pad stats, plain and simple.
by Tech92 on Oct 4, 2008 5:25 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
disagree: you’re up by 24, need to put the game away. field goal is just picking up points, TD makes it theoretically impossible to come back, plus if they stop you, they have the ball on the 1 yard line.
ML’s first fourth down call that i agree with.
by kayakyakr on Oct 4, 2008 5:25 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Wasn't James a Tailback in HS?
I’d like to see him carry the ball on short yardage situations.
by NM99 on Oct 4, 2008 5:26 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Just line up Brandon SeSay at QB for a sneak
by ndockray001 on Oct 4, 2008 5:27 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
that’s a good idea. GH is an awwwwwful QB sneaker.

Somebody fix Carona! He’s too slow on the kicks. We can’t afford that in close games.
by djollie111 on Oct 4, 2008 5:40 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
sadly, i think it’s all coaching at this point. It’s something that the coaches need to take care of.
