Easily offended
I will now play the part of the over-sensitive Red Raider fan (not for the reals but I thought it would be fun).
I was watching the FAU/Troy game on ESPN tonight (I loves me some Tuesday night NCAA football! I don't care who's playing) and the talk shifted to the Red River Shootout. While discussing the prospects of OU running the table on the season, they flashed up their remaining schedule. On that schedule they had, of course, #5 Texas, #16 Kansas, some unranked ones and then, lastly, #21 Okie State. I did a double-take and confirmed my suspicion. The schedule had Tech listed on it but not the #7 next to our glorious name.
Now let's all be over-sensitive and talk about getting disrespected! Let's pull a screen shot of that schedule and post it in Darcel McBath's locker! : )
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

SCREW ESPN!!!
What do they know about college football, or any other sport for that matter?! I am boycotting all espn broadcasts FOREVER! Anybody can say “well if they play well, they’ll win,” or “as long as they keep the other team from scoring, they’ll win.” Yeah, they’re just EXPERTS in everything having to do with any sport..riiiiight.
How’s that? I think that was a good acting job. Of course, disregard all of it. :-P

Not 'too' easily offended...
Earlier in the year, when Texas Tech was rated #12, my son and I were watching another college game… as the current rankings scrolled along the bottom of the screen. My son pointed out that … get this… there was NO #12 in the list! That’s right, Texas Tech did not make the list. They just skipped them! Since those scrolls come around so often, we paid attention to make sure we hadn’t just missed it. We watched the scroll for over an hour – and each time – sure enough, NO TEXAS TECH #12 ranked. My son sent an email to the network, and lo and behold, about 30 minutes later Tech finally took their rightful place among the top 25.
There IS a pattern here. It is NOT imagined. On several occasions this season, when Big 12 teams are discussed, teams like Oklahoma State, Kansas, even Kansas State get mentioned while Texas Tech is left out.
I think it would be a great idea for Seth to keep a ‘score board’ of these examples, with contributions from all the DTN members.
Actually, I hope that this continues, and its likely that Leach does too! Who knows? Maybe Leach has made some kind of arrangement for the football know-it-alls to snub the Red Raiders. Keep on winning, Red Raiders, and there is NO WAY they can ignore you!

Nats, I will respectfully disagree. I am pretty sure any perceived slight is just that…perceived. Tech gets a lot of positive publicity from all corners. Do they also receive criticism? Absolutely; as they should. Every team gets praise and knocks. It’s part of the territory.
I’ve read numerous ESPN.com chats where an expert will weigh in on the Big XII and not make mention of Tech in an answer…only to praise them five questions later as a south contender. It’s a simple oversight and you can’t remember every team name every time. I sometimes catch myself forgetting my boss’ last name somehow. It happens. Don’t take that stuff so seriously…there’s not some huge anti-Tech consipiracy.

perceived...
Tech92 – I don’t take it seriously, but I do perceive… I notice…
Example: 8:50 a.m. Thursday (five minutes ago)- on the “Mike and Mike show”: Five minute discussion involving this week’s games and especially the Big 12. OU vs. Texas… of course – biggest game in the Nation. Understood. While discussing other ranked Big 12 teams: Missouri and Oklahoma State mentioned. NO mention of Texas Tech AT ALL.
By the way… those ESPN guys do lots of game preps and notes taking… but Tech is easy to forget.
Just having fun… and again… my purpose is to say ‘keep winning’ and they won’t be able to overlook you, Tech!

Disrespect
is what ESPN is all about.; They have their favorites and Tech is certainly not on any of their lists. Like McBath says, he watches ESPN for that very reason. It keeps his perspective sharpened and the will to excel hightened. It really doesn’t matter which host or co-host is speaking, he/she disses Tech at every opportunity. Same can be said of the national media, whatever the format. We have seven games to go. Should Tech play well and either win them all or lose no more than 1, they all will take notice….for this year. Next year they will be right back doing the same thing. It has been that way for 50 years and will not change soon. Soooo, Tech just needs to go out and destroy every team they play, especially any wearing orange of any type. This weeked, regardless of the outcome of Tech vs Nebraska, the media will spread bad carma Tech’s way. It is to be expected. I think we will have another big win, because this team appears to have a greater desire for success than any if Coach Leach’s previous teams. Tus, the year could be otherworldly when Tech hoists the Nationa Championship Trophy this year. Keep your hopes up and support the team, including voting for Harrell & Crabtree for any and all awards they are listed for that we can cast a vote on. GO TECH!
