FINALLY!!

All the talk is pointless now. Let’s just play!

I am not a huge college football fan but I would love for Tech to win big today

and finish the season undefeated.

So are the boys over at BON

Enjoy the game…don’t get too nutted up…though I’m a FREAKING NERVOUS WRECK!

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 6:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Just got a text from my boss at the game. Blackout is in FULL effect and he said it looks great.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 6:41 PM CDT reply actions

I'm away from the computer

so keep it going. If no one opens a new thread , I’ll do it at halftime. I’m half drunk.

Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation

by Seth C on Nov 1, 2008 6:50 PM CDT reply actions

I suggest you continue on and get fully drunk. : )

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 6:51 PM CDT up reply actions

I’m READY.

also blackout doesn’t look bad, i don’t know what everyone was talking about.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:03 PM CDT reply actions

Jones Stadium in HD…Nice.

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 7:03 PM CDT reply actions

god i’m so nervous and excited and wreck em tech!

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:10 PM CDT reply actions

Let's Get This Party Started!!!!

Raiders win so I can be an absolutely worthless individual for another week. I am so pumped I think I will freak out if I have to wait another second.
Wreck Em!!!

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 7:13 PM CDT reply actions

OMG!!!

Look at the students!!!

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 7:14 PM CDT reply actions

harrell’s fault. could have a) thrown it, he had enough time, or b) rolled to the left.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

O-Line

Needs to give Harrell more time. Even .5 second will help tremendously. 2 back set please

by techfan5730 on Nov 1, 2008 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

i’m not worried about that, though, because TTU tends to come out 50/50 on first drives.

I’ve started to prefer to see us go on defense first.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:21 PM CDT reply actions

at least he didn’t force a turnover

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 7:21 PM CDT reply actions

Good news

They didn’t get pressure with 4. They had to bring more

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 7:21 PM CDT reply actions

Ceerap yeah!!!!

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 7:23 PM CDT reply actions

but…tech can’t play defense : )

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:23 PM CDT reply actions

Never would have guess that our first score would be a safety.

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 7:23 PM CDT reply actions

Give Batch the ball.

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 7:25 PM CDT reply actions

Man..

good throw on the move.

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 7:25 PM CDT reply actions

fuuuck nebraska down 28-0 9:00 left in the 1st quarter.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:26 PM CDT reply actions

eat the clock, baby…that’s the UT plan.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:27 PM CDT reply actions

line looks like it’s very hesitant.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Why is Shannon running so much instead of Batch?

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Britton should have had that one

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:30 PM CDT reply actions

harrell not looking sharp in the face of pressure. doing a lot of throwing off his back foot.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:31 PM CDT reply actions

Harrell looking a bit off

he HAS to be accurate on the move in this game

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:31 PM CDT reply actions

only looks off when he’s got a hair of pressure up the middle. the rest of it is golden. I think that he was throwing that last one away which is a shame since crab’s corner fell down.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:32 PM CDT up reply actions

we can’t waist drives

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 7:31 PM CDT reply actions

Okay. Let’s have that line settle in. Lots and lots of pressure, and Harrell is not good with this type of front. We need to figure it out. Notice that the splits are about gone?

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:32 PM CDT reply actions

we have not seen this kind of pass rush

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 7:32 PM CDT reply actions

5-0 and only one play by UT offense in first 8 minutes; just like it was drawn up

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:32 PM CDT reply actions

YEAH

Way to go Williams. WE still CANNOT drop passes in the end zone if we are going to win…

by techfan5730 on Nov 1, 2008 7:32 PM CDT reply actions

they are having to blitz to get most of their pressure up the middle. Just need to burn them a few times on blitzes and that’ll stop.

I was worried about our ability to put the ball in the endzone in the red zone.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Agree – but their secondary is nothing special

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:34 PM CDT up reply actions

Britton should have had that.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:33 PM CDT reply actions

Tech D

must step up and penetrate the backfield like they did on the safety. Make McCoy uncomfortable and doubt his line.

by techfan5730 on Nov 1, 2008 7:33 PM CDT reply actions

No problem moving between the 30’s but we have to finish

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 7:33 PM CDT reply actions

I think they stopped him

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

got a bit of a generous spot

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:36 PM CDT up reply actions

they gave him the spot

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

Man..

that’s a generous spot

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

bad spot, but you can’t see the ball on a challenge.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Tech is hitting tonite

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:40 PM CDT reply actions

The boys on BON are FREAKING OUT

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:42 PM CDT reply actions

Still a long way to go. Tech MUST score a TD on this drive.

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:43 PM CDT up reply actions

Tech’s receivers are much better than UT’s secondary

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions

OMG!!!!

The BRitton Special.

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 7:46 PM CDT reply actions

the coverage can’t be that good. He’s got to find an open guy

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 7:47 PM CDT reply actions

splits are gone because UT is shooting the middle. That will stop if we can start completing those outs.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 7:48 PM CDT reply actions

Woods fell down

He would have been wide open

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 7:49 PM CDT reply actions

19-0 would be a good start to the game

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 8:02 PM CDT up reply actions

keep in mind, in 2006, we went up 21-0 and lost.

let’s not let that happen again.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 8:01 PM CDT reply actions

I believe this year’s team is quite focused on playing 4 quarters

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 8:02 PM CDT up reply actions

The D Line is dominating the battle.

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 8:02 PM CDT reply actions

I smell blowout if this keeps up in the second qtr

Texas will be gassed by the second half if we can dominate on the next two drives

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 8:03 PM CDT reply actions

Or drinking alot.

by krob on Nov 1, 2008 8:03 PM CDT up reply actions

I’m hoping for a complete game from the defense. Not just a spectacular second half effort. So far….I’m impressed.

22-6.

they came back after being down 21-0 last time they were in lubbock.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 8:46 PM CDT reply actions

Who's

held UT to a 6 point first half this year?

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 8:48 PM CDT reply actions

Halftime

22-6. In order to win this game, Texas Tech MUST keep playing well. In 2006, they expected to win while they were up 21-0. This team is different, because they realize that you have to play the whole game if you want to win and it is VITAL that Tech does that in the second half. If we can stop Texas on their first drive and score a touchdown, we are setting ourselves up to hold on to the lead. Running the ball will be CRUCIAL for those long, sustained drives. I say that if Tech has two scoring drives in which they score a touchdown and eat up a total of 10 minutes, we have a GREAT chance to preserve a win.

by techfan5730 on Nov 1, 2008 8:50 PM CDT reply actions

Agreed

The last drive by UT with less than 2 minutes to go in the half shows how explosive they can be if Tech lets them. They must continue being aggressive in all phases to put the game away.

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Colt

He’s the ONLY weapon they have in this game.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 8:52 PM CDT reply actions

Coverage

We must keep the pressure on McCoy and his O-line, while locking down Cosby and Shipley. If we can do that, McCoy will be forced to throw to his other receivers, who are still really good, but not as reliable in his eyes.

by techfan5730 on Nov 1, 2008 8:52 PM CDT reply actions

crosby/shipley….7 yards. We need to keep this up.
rushing…30 yards. awesome.
Just keep up the intensity!!!

that was once the OU Nebraska game.

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 9:04 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, as cocky as I want to be, I realize Texas is Texas. They will come out firing in about 10 min

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:05 PM CDT reply actions

I'm far less worried.

Anything can happen…..but Tech really wants this thing. There’s a significant difference in attitudes and body language. Texas can pull it out…no doubt. But I don’t see any signs of “typical Tech”.

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 9:07 PM CDT reply actions

by techfan5730 on Nov 1, 2008 9:20 PM CDT reply actions

Man..

I don’t know how they avoided the holding call there.

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 9:22 PM CDT reply actions

that was 3 blocks in the back. 1 sneaky redirection, 1 to give him a return, 1 to give him the TD.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:22 PM CDT reply actions

I hope he’s not hurt too badly

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 9:24 PM CDT reply actions

reed got the better of orackpo. hurt him, that’s not a good sign.

creative use of the hold.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:24 PM CDT reply actions

bad throw by Graham there

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 9:25 PM CDT reply actions

the offense is making me nervous so far.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:26 PM CDT reply actions

no, i don’t think so much that as going into the offense.

the offense just isn’t playing well.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:27 PM CDT up reply actions

cue the meltdown

texas will lead by the end of this quarter

bring back the aggresion

by Freneau on Nov 1, 2008 9:27 PM CDT reply actions

Defense has 2 stops on 2 drives in the second half – they are playing well

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 9:29 PM CDT reply actions

O-line

Letting the pressure get through. Texas is bringing 5+

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 9:29 PM CDT reply actions

tech’s offense has gone cold. harrell is lackadasical, the offensive line is allowing a lot more pressure to a more winded UT D.

momentum has changed and for the first time this year, TTU’s offense looks like it’s gotten down on itself.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:29 PM CDT reply actions

they are screaming that Orakpo was held on that play over on BON

Truth?

I’m watching via gametracker after watching the first half in a bar.

by Beergut on Nov 1, 2008 9:33 PM CDT reply actions

Actually, i missed that particular play, but there’s been alot going on

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 9:34 PM CDT up reply actions

not holding if they don’t call it

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 9:34 PM CDT up reply actions

tough to tell…they are screaming over everything over there, though.

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 9:33 PM CDT reply actions

WHOA that is the first kick that went into the endzone against the wind.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:35 PM CDT reply actions

They break when you stand on them too much

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 9:35 PM CDT reply actions

It’s a design flaw, really. they only have the one stand connecting them to the concrete by two bolts. UT’s bleahers have a bit better design with a bar to the front of the stand, i was impressed how simple that modification was.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Our defense tonight is NFLesque! I love it! WRECK EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by rednader on Nov 1, 2008 9:37 PM CDT reply actions

zone is too soft for an NFL d.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think they break that easily

They’ll eventually begin to creak and sway if you stand on them

They are breaking off b/c for some reason, the students seem to think it is their job to try to rip them off

by Beergut on Nov 1, 2008 9:38 PM CDT reply actions

They are much worse than the ones at Kyle.

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 9:39 PM CDT up reply actions

congrats on beating the Buffs

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 9:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Definitely

North sux this year. Mizzou and KU were overrated

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 9:40 PM CDT up reply actions

when 3 of the 4 connecting bars are gone, you’ve gotta finish it. Been in on a few that broke, they break over the course of the game. I’ve only seen one where students try to rip them up and they couldn’t.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Let them play ball control…down by three scores.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:38 PM CDT reply actions

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:43 PM CDT reply actions

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:44 PM CDT reply actions

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:47 PM CDT reply actions

all we had to do was drive down and score

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 9:47 PM CDT reply actions

stopping ourselves with drops and penalties.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:47 PM CDT reply actions

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 9:49 PM CDT up reply actions

you know, we are keeping them around. I am not feelling good about this.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:48 PM CDT reply actions

crap…we’re letting them steal this out from under our noses.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:52 PM CDT reply actions

ok offense has been playing not to lose, time to step up

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 9:53 PM CDT reply actions

no more of this shit like the last OU game. act like you know how to play with a lead.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:54 PM CDT reply actions

No offense points in 3rd quarter

They will lose if they don’t get out of their funk

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 9:55 PM CDT reply actions

ok a quarter where we start w/ ball. let’s score 2

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 9:56 PM CDT reply actions

leach needs to know when a running game is a good thing to use over and over again and when it’s time to keep the pedal on the metal. this is one of the times when you keep going to score, not trying to just run out the clock.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 9:57 PM CDT reply actions

If you had told me that Tech would be up by 10

beginning 4th quarter and they have the ball, I would take that every time. Now let’s finish what was started in the 1st quarter.

we really could have made a statement here tonight if O woulda scored in 3rd

by Plano Jeff on Nov 1, 2008 9:58 PM CDT reply actions

Texas wins the third qtr, I think. We need to come out here and drive the field. Score a freaking TD.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 9:58 PM CDT reply actions

That’s how you do it baby!

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 10:00 PM CDT reply actions

Our offense is not built on two or three runs in a row. It’s taking us out of rhythm.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:02 PM CDT reply actions

Good call

Texas was bringing the house

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 10:02 PM CDT reply actions

I think these next two plays are MASSIVE. We have to stem the Texas tide. We have done s*** on offense this half.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:03 PM CDT reply actions

Agreed….game defining

by ForestFlyer on Nov 1, 2008 10:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Harrell

is looking like a senior in this game. I haven’t thought that all year.

by NM99 on Nov 1, 2008 10:04 PM CDT reply actions

but the offense is killing itself this second half.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 10:04 PM CDT up reply actions

With such a dominant yardage (442 to 203) advantage

and even larger time of possession advantage you’d think Tech would have this game in hand by now. But they don’t. They must score a TD on this drive.

by jeffinhouston on Nov 1, 2008 10:04 PM CDT reply actions

must get a TD here.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:06 PM CDT reply actions

Man, I get absolutely NO sense of urgency from the offense. Who would have thought the defense carried us into the fourth against Texas??

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:08 PM CDT reply actions

right now it’s just… sitting on their laurels.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 10:10 PM CDT up reply actions

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:18 PM CDT reply actions

he really needs to be willing to bounce it outside more.

by kayakyakr on Nov 1, 2008 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Hate to say it, but here’s where Colt can win the Heisman.

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:29 PM CDT reply actions

by Tech92 on Nov 1, 2008 10:30 PM CDT reply actions

that 1st and goal situation was largely on harrell. he had a lot of room in the middle of the field, could have moved it back to at least the 10 with an underneath shot.

Boy, hat’s off to UT and McCoy on that comeback. That was a dagger, I thought. I honestly felt like Texas won that game at the end. I totally underestimated Tech’s ability to beat Texas. Yeah, we’ve had some pretty awesome comebacks at the end but they were against the likes of Minnesota and UVa. But Texas?

We really won this game. Texas didn’t blow it.

3 out of 4???????????????????????????????

Since when would Texas ever be happy about 3 out of 4? Especially to Texas Tech.
This sounds alot like OK last year saying they lost with their back-up quarterback. So this is the dawn of a new age. Could it be Tech and OK State have begun to turn the tide? Anyway, I can’t wait to next week as I will be traveling from Jackson, MS to the South Plains for OK State game. We really beat #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great game Defense and special teams!! Oh, and offense, you played pretty well also! If Crabtree has a couple of ballbreakin’ games, he will be atop the heisman list after that last play that all of America just witnessed! And Graham is already atop that list, too (sorry colt).
