Life gives you stories that resonant within.  Stories like a young shepherd boy picking up five smooth stones and slaying a giant with a simple sling and a faith in God.  Stories like a band of brothers completely encircled by German troops in WWII and when rescued by Gen. Patton claiming that they didn’t need rescuing, they were holding their own just fine.  Stories about a rag tag bunch of colonies winning a war against the greatest world power of their time because they believed they could.  Stories about a 6 seed Villanova defeating Georgetown for the NCAA championship, not because anyone else thought they could but because they thought they could.   A runner survives 26 miles to warn his countrymen.  A black woman refuses to move to the back of the bus.  Stories like these inspire and bring hope because everyone of us is weaker than someone, smaller than someone and faces obstacles of our own.

[Note by Seth C, 11/19/08 10:12 PM CST ]  Make sure and visit RP.com for the rest of the post, it's an awesome read and well worth your time.  Want to keep the good karma going and link back to the orignal source and not completely copy and paste someone else's work.  I'm an English major, that's my excuse.  Carry on and Wreck 'Em!

Is it Saturday yet?

A win this weekend would be very symbolic of how far this great university has risen since 1923.

This is our "next" statement game

My gawd, if the entire raider nation reads this, we may rush the field during pre-game. As the signs say “Our House….Our Time”.
 Wreck ’em…………………with athority and attitude.

So True.

When I tell people where I went to school, I’m tired of them asking about the other two. Texas Tech is here to stay, and this year is our statement. Outstanding write-up. GUNS UP!

great post - tip the iceberg

I am counting down the minutes until Saturday night. We are facing a tough, tough, match up – but I believe in us. However, since my impact is minimal – the more comforting news is that it looks like the players, and the coaches believe in themselves. They have looked incredibly focused ever since the 2nd half of the A&M game and it sounds like they are sold 100% on doing their job and not looking ahead.

Saturday will provide new challenges for this season, but the doubters are still saying the same thing. Do your job boys and lets tip the iceberg, as Seth wrote about earlier this year.

Am I the only one

whose eyes get a little watery watching that last TD of the Texas game, watching the OSU game, and during the Matador Song now? Very nice post, whoever wrote it.

All I can say now is – Just. Play.

No, you’re not the only one, djollie.

If anyone can find the link to this

I’d appreciate it. Stirring as it is, I’ve tried real hard not to completely copy and past another person’s writing and always link back to the site that posted it initially, especially if it is original work such as this. It’s good internet karma. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for check this out

I’ve always thought it was good karma to link back to the original work as it certainly deserves to be recognized.

Excellent work and thanks for sharing.

Thanks Seth

wasn’t sure how to handle it. Thought it wouldn’t be a free read from RP. I agree with the good karma thing.

It's cool.

I just always prefer to link back to the original source. Visits drive websites and that was an original piece by El Capitan and RP.com deserves to get those hits. I’ve never been a fan of a total copy-and-paste effort, despite the fact that it’s free.

just two days....

I’m almost as excited as I was before the UT game! Our youth minister at church is a TECH fanatic along with me….he served all the food at the parent meeting last night on red, black and white trays. He is calm and confident—he goes over the stats daily. I am all about the red & black and that has been part of the outfit every day for 3 weeks now. People give us a hard time, but like he said, unless you have been a Red Raider fan for a while, you just don’t get how really big this is.

What he “lives” with—our preacher and another office guy are OU people and the children’s minister that has an office across the hall is UT, so we LOVE being loud and proud!!

by bleedredblack on Nov 20, 2008 11:17 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Awesome!!!!!!!

I’m a youth minister in Jackson, MS and my pastor is an Ole Miss fan but the last 2 years we have taken a roadtrip to the Jones to see Tech beat OU last year and demolish OSU this year so he has a second team he roots for now. Anyway, WRECH"EM TECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
