Put it to rest
The boys from the South Plains put a few things to rest tonight.
1. Nobody can speak of strength of schedule with regards to Tech this year.
2. We CAN win the big one. And in heart-stopping fashion.
3. We are a full-on legitimate TEAM. Defense was the best they've been in years. Where was this type of performance all year? I don't know, but it looks like the guys play to the competition. That bodes well down the stretch.
4. Our kicking game isn't the massive liability it was four weeks ago.
5. Graham Harrell is a legit Heisman candidate.
6. We're not just a gimmick offense. We adjusted to pressure by tightening the splits and running conventional plays. And we won.
7. This team has the heart of a lion.
We have two very difficult games and one more semi-difficult game left. Let's take care of business, but destiny is squarely in our hands.

well put…Let’s digest this for the rest of the weekend and keep up that unreal intensity for the rest of this season. We should move up to number 3 or so? Wanting that number one should keep us going and feed that hunger. Our guys just need to take it easy tomorrow and then start the focus on okstate monday.
#6
I totally agree with #6 and think that is the biggest thing that came out of this game. We didn’t have the crazy 2-3 yd splits on every play. We actually lined up like most teams and outgained UT on the ground. We have a truly balanced attack. Really exciting to watch.
I’m really proud of the guys because they could have very easily folded when UT came back after we dominated first half. Another key a to why this team “is different.”
Now, we have another killer week of waiting for the big game. But, I could get used to this…:o)
I thought the offense worked worse tonight when TTU was predominantly trying to run in the 3rd quarter. 3 runs in a row while backed up? silly when you’re a passing team.
I’m not sure if i’m happy with the idea of us going run, run, pass every possession. Also wasn’t happy that we didn’t run that flanker screen while we were in the red zone. we were killing them with that all night.
I agree, but there is one good thing to come from it. OSU will have to decide just what they think we might run against them. Our running game worked, even when it had us exasperated. I’d hate to be the coach that has to plan to defend what I saw last night. And frankly, our defense (minus a few lapses) was scary.
... I'm just sayin'
we need to be sure to finish off drives a little better next week though...
sacks and penalties near the red zone kept a good amount of points off the board
I second this motion
First of all I thought Tech Defense played at top form for most of the game except for two really big plays. One was just not smart coverage and the other was a great throw and catch. The offense was good but not great.
Texas was given every opportunity to win the game either through not smart plays by Tech or the generosity of the referees (4th down spot, block in the back, offensive pass interference?, two defensive pass interference calls). Which is usually what happens when we play vs Texas, but this year the Raiders finally made plays that took it back.
Don’t say Texas was flat. Kirk Herbstreit said it best, Tech was beating them upfront that was causing them to be flat.
I don’t think Tech has peaked yet, but I think before this OSU game the words of Herb Brooks before the Gold Medal match against Finland and after beating the Russians
"If you lose this game, you’ll take it to your [expletive] graves."

I will not be totally satisfied until
We beat Oklahoma in Norman.
Its one thing to beat ranked teams at Home who are top 10.
Its totally another thing to beat top teams on the road.
Tech will still have to prove that Texas game was not a just a rival game gone to the wire.
We will have Oklahoma State and we will have to prove that we can win by a couple of TDs.
Then we will have to go to Norman! We will then have to prove we can beat a top 10 team on the road!
Texas was the best D we will see
I think Texas had overall the best D we will see yet we were able to handle their front all night long. They even blitzed alot mor e than usual yet we got 579 on them. OSU brings some issues for our D but with our 10 D lineman staying in their lanes that will help alot. OU has a good D but their best player got hurt in the Texas game and is our for the year. We can beat OSU & OU but we must take one at a time and just go do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wreck’em TECH
