Try not to hold..
your breath the entire commercial break. Things started to get black by the I phone ad.
need to calm down, get our heads in the game on defense.
offense also needs to get into the game, we work best moving the ball on 1st and 2nd down and we haven’t done that yet.
How is it not a catch when they knock the ball out after he’s down?
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 7:39 PM CST up reply actions
refs are going to screw someone tonight bad.
they called harrell down on the previous play then when he’s got 3 on him, they wait?
wtf.
we need to stop being so nervous.
Harrell looks nervous, so does the WHOLE team. We need to shut out the crowd and just play ball.
is ou's o-line that much better than texas line?
by sleestak nation on Nov 22, 2008 7:58 PM CST reply actions
They just need to settle down. They haven't found their groove yet... They will soon enough
Wes Welker can't be stopped.
OU
is doing a good job of adjusting to what we are showing on D through the no huddle. We have to be more clever.
No..
the story isn’t the OU defense. It’s the inconsistent play of Harrell. And his play isn’t all a result of the OU defense.
we will see how much character this Red Raider team has
posers will fold up like a lawn chair . . . the real deal will pull it together and come back
by sleestak nation on Nov 22, 2008 8:19 PM CST reply actions
I still believe this team is different
They’ve made things difficult on themselves but I don’t think we are going to see them give up.
ou is shredding out d . . what the heck?
by sleestak nation on Nov 22, 2008 8:27 PM CST reply actions
hate to say it . .
but it’s not a matter of our D underperforming. i think their O is really that good.
good to see that we have taken the fans out of the game . . . .
by sleestak nation on Nov 22, 2008 8:52 PM CST reply actions
Damn it
you know, i know we all put our necks on the line bragging to our atm and ut fans that this tech team was different. It is going to be a long Monday at work. We just dont have the athletes. How in the HELL did we beat UT? Is home field that big of a deal???

I’m glad we have dawnpatrol2 to remind all of us “techies” what it means to be classy.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 9:33 PM CST up reply actions
dawnpatrol2 does not
reflect what a true Sooner fan acts like. This moron isn’t even a member of the Crimson&Cream Machine (Sooner Blog). I just checked over here to see what Raider fans were thinking about the game and I read what that imbecile wrote.
Over on our side of the blog the conbersation is much different.

Press clippings
Did we read our clippings too much these last two weeks? I still love my Raiders!
I remember last year one of their offensive lineman was always taking cheap shots at our players. not sure which one it was.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 9:38 PM CST up reply actions
OU is playing soft dime coverage
we’re not earning anything. Harrell isn’t getting enough on the throws to get them there in time.
celebrating?? really
I cant believe those idiots just did a chest bump after scoring, that is pathetic.
by HoustonTechster on Nov 22, 2008 9:44 PM CST reply actions
OK...
I’ll stop being critical. I’ll just shut up and polish off this gallon of ice cream….and maybe this pie.
I’m going to go finish off all of my beer…and maybe buy some more after that.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 9:53 PM CST up reply actions
Man…that’s just unfair. That’s cruel….something a typical Tech fan would ask. Why don’t you just peg me in the head with a battery. (find answer within)
by ForestFlyer on Nov 22, 2008 10:01 PM CST up reply actions
my fear with Texas Tech is that when they go into a big game on national TV is that they don't show up
The past two weeks we showed up. This week we are embarrassing and I can hear us dropping in the polls like an atomic bomb.
by sleestak nation on Nov 22, 2008 9:59 PM CST reply actions
Thats the only pirates worth watching tonight. I wonder if we just got lazy in practice this week? Oh well I think I am over this now an 11-1 season is still really good, and maybe other teams won’t consider Leach after this game.
Man, tough night for you all tonight.
OU’s a top-flight team on the nights they decide to show up and play; tonight was just one of those nights for them.
From an outside view, it just looked like Tech was so worried about making mistakes that they made mistakes.
They're still a top-notch team, though.
Any group of 20ish your old guys is prone to nights like that. It’s just a part of that age.
Remember all those “invincible” Oklahoma teams that ended up absolutely tanking the end of the season? (Loss to K-State, etc.) It happens.
by David Hooper on Nov 22, 2008 10:07 PM CST up reply actions
We do it too i guess. We’ll get ours next year on them then.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 10:08 PM CST up reply actions
I thought our O-line would have played much better than this.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 10:11 PM CST reply actions
Definitely
the lack of performance on both the O-line and the D-line has stood out to me as the root of this fiasco.
by mojavereject on Nov 22, 2008 10:13 PM CST up reply actions
I think
they’re more disgusted with OU.
by ForestFlyer on Nov 22, 2008 10:13 PM CST up reply actions
Harris' performance in this game
pissed me off to no end. OU beat us straight up, but he’s been playing some of the dirtiest ball I’ve ever seen.
by mojavereject on Nov 22, 2008 10:28 PM CST up reply actions
I don't think it is so much a matter of Tech "not showing up"
I think OU simply is this much better than Tech.
Their OL has been demolishing your DL all night long, and your LBs are nowhere to be found.
I think your OL benefitted from generous referees in Lubbock, and that generosity doesn’t extend to Norman.
OU’s offense is simply very, very, very good, especially when you can’t stop their running game.
I don’t think it is that your team has failed to show up, b/c I think that is a denial of how good this OU team is, and how bad they’re thumping Tech right now.
so...
our season is a result of officiating? Riiiiiight… We wanted 10 wins, and we’re gonna get at least 11. I’d say that’s above expectations. OU still could end up 10-2, which would be an average year.
nope
just saying your OL appears to be better than they are when they play in Lubbock b/c the officials have a very liberal definition of holding there.
explain that further b/c that is the stupidist thing I have ever heard.
by sleestak nation on Nov 22, 2008 10:35 PM CST up reply actions
This crew
also has a very liberal definition of the field boundaries as well. Two bad calls in the first quarter torpedoed two early Tech drives that might have kept this thing close
by mojavereject on Nov 22, 2008 10:43 PM CST up reply actions
Beergut, I agree that OU is a very good team, but you can’t be saying that Tech did put its best game on the field tonight. In fact, I’d have to call you crazy (well, more than you already are for being one of the aggie faithful), if you say that the Texas Tech team tonight was the same team that played in Lawrence, Kansas.
This is hard...
This is one of the hardest things i’ve ever watched.
I’m still VERY VERY VERY proud of our team and the things they have done… the enjoyment i’ve gotten from this team and this school up until tonight has been one of the best things in my life so far. we KNOW our team is good, we KNOW we can compete… and this game is very hard to watch… the reason it’s so hard though… is because this is going to make it that much harder for us die hard fans to explain why we love this school so much. all our recent band wagon fans that started liking us because we were the new hot team… they’ll just pass us off and say… eh… coulda been cool… but i’m here to stay and will bleed scarlet and black until the day i die, and i am STILL proud to be a red raider!!!!!

Maybe I'm approaching this all wrong.
Any angelic Red Raider gals out there that require some gentle consoling from a understanding male? I’ll bring the Ripple and pork rinds.
ugh
started drinking in the 1st quarter when we were down 21-0 and failed on the 4th down. pretty dang drunk now! and still watching…..god this sucks. hopefully i dont remember this game ever happened…..
get ready for next week
Just as long as we show up for Baylor! I think GH was just too hyped for tonight and never got into the game itself. We will watch them in a bowl blow out the other team!!
Sadie
me lady. How do you feel about pork rinds?
by ForestFlyer on Nov 22, 2008 10:39 PM CST up reply actions
I get the feeling
Musberger has been waiting all night to call Adam James’ number.
He seems quite pleased with himself.
I watched until they got to 65
and decided to watch the scifi channel. At least it is believable. Why? Why? Why can’t Tech be better prepared for games like this. This team was looking so good and was playing so well, this is a real disappointment. Leach said it best as they went in at the half: “they were all hyped up and we couldn’t bring them down.” The sad thing is this happens at least once every year to throw a cog in the season. Well, maybe they can get by Baylor. With one loss, they can still get to a really good bowl, maybe the Cotton. So much for a special and championship type season. With a loss this bad, we drop down to also-ran status. And the Horns are laughing so loud. Man does that hurt.
TTpilk
At least we beat them and knocked them out of the championship hunt. I wouldn’t be so glad about that except for the way they whined afterward.
Cotton will take Tech over a 3 loss Missouri.
There is no contractual obligation there. Tech goes to Dallas to play LSU or Ole Miss (probably Ole Miss since they won today over LSU).
WHAT IF...
if OSU beats OU… that puts us winning the big 12 south… what if we go and beat mizzou?
Wreck 'Em Tech!
J.T.H.
go cowboys
time to root for the cowboys! makes it easy since im a dallas cowboys fan lol
These guys lost their composure
over an hour ago. It’s sad to see from a group that has played with such maturity for 12 games before this

eye opening
your player of the game has ~80 yd in total offense
that is the story of the game right there

oh, I'm not dogging on Batch
I’m just amazed his stats are so pedestrian
it seems he has done more than that in this game
like I said, his stats basically tell the story of the game
Batch deserves some respect. He’s been amazing all year.

ballgame
so, if let’s say OU beats Okie State and texas beats A&M
they both go BCS
does this means the Holiday Bowl for Tech?
I still think the loser of the Big 12 CG goes to the Cotton Bowl.
Better than what ever bowl a&m is playing in.

I know. my point exactly. it would be rediculous to have a three loss Missouri team ahead of us though. Wait and see how next week goes though. Would hate to back into the Big 12 Championship after a game like tonight though.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 10:54 PM CST up reply actions
No. That doesn’t have to happen, sorry beergut.
Key here is that the Cotton can pick “#2” in the big XII and because of the North/South setup, that’s up in the air. Missouri went to the Cotton Bowl last year and with an in-state school available, it will be TTU.
good point
I keep forgetting that they did that in ’98, bypassing K-State for texas.
So, Tech vs Mississippi? Rematch of your non-con series from a few seasons back?
That could get uglier than this year’s Mizzou-Arkansas game.
Well…I don’t know which bowl is most likely. However, I do know that after Texas beats A&M….the Aggies will STILL be scraping the bottom of the conference.
by ForestFlyer on Nov 22, 2008 10:52 PM CST up reply actions
Beergut, I don't really see the point in you running over here to
Kick the Tech Fans when they are down. Tech’s had a great season, and are light years ahead of Texas A&M (have been for years).
And he couldn't
shake hands with Graham?? GH was looking for him to do just that!
going to bed
good night all…
Strive for Honor evermore…

did any of you think
we would be 10-1 going into the Baylor game? This is a great year for us still.
I can’t wait until monday to hear shit from all the people i work with who neither attended UT or OU.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 10:57 PM CST up reply actions
no, that was the right play to call. It’s less insulting that kneeling the ball and it’s not scoring just for the sake of scoring as kicking a field goal was.
TT_ Remember Leach did the exact same thing with Harrell
In the A&M game and has made no secret of his desire to score everytime Tech gets the ball (regardless of the score or time). For that reason, Tech can’t be pissed about Stoops running it up. It is just a taste of Mike Leach’s medicine.
What is it with your
assinine obsession as an Aggie with the word classy? Go back to 12th Man if you can’t be cool about things.
funny..
people at BON say the same thing..
by pleaseplaykindle on Nov 23, 2008 2:55 AM CST up reply actions
seriously?
You’re going to complain about running up the score? I thought Leach calls that “continuing to run your offense”?
Besides, running the ball with your 4th string TB isn’t running up the score. They did everything but run backwards.
I think most Tech fans would agree. I doubt you hear Leach complaining about how Stoops tried to run up the score. Anyway, Maybe other teams will decide to keep their hands off our coach after this game.
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 11:10 PM CST up reply actions
Dude, I think Leach will leave if he can....
I really do. This was the best team he has ever built here and (as of right now) they are Cotton Bowl bound. With Harrell/Crabtree leaving it will take him 3 years to have another team as competitive as this one. He wanted the UCLA and Miami jobs but didn’t get them. Now, some NFL team or college program will take a shot on him and I think he will take it. He has taken Tech as far as they can go. Now, I think he will try to go somewhere else.
Bullshit! as far as they can go? You would have said that what ever shit bowl me made it to before is as far as we could go. If we can do it this year than why couldn’t we do it any other year?
by willthetechfan on Nov 22, 2008 11:18 PM CST up reply actions
The only
issue I had was the Bradford bomb for a TD with the score out of hand. Running the offense and throwing a bomb are a little different. I don’t think it was running up the score, but I don’t think it was “classy” as you like to call it.
I've seen Leach run it up so many times
That I just can’t bash Bob for going for the gusto there. If Leach could have beat OU by that score, he would have kept trying to score as well.
le sigh
we’ll get em next year. Good night Double T Nation, and remember that excess drinking should be accompanied by a good meal and plenty of hydration.
Beergut...
Dude, let’s face it. You’re obsessed…
You come all the way over to DTN to criticize our players and Tech’s performance, then talk about how much p*ssy Bradford is gonna be getting tonight. Any time you can take a shot at Tech, you seize the opportunity.
UNFORTUNATELY…
1. TAMU isn’t bowl eligible, Tech is.
2. TAMU sucks this year. Don’t give me that “we’re improving” bullsh*t, your 4-7 record begs to differ.
3. TAMU got beat AT HOME, ON SENIOR DAY by a similar score.
4. Tech played Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma State before playing OU. Obviously, 3 straight weeks of tough games wears a team down.
5. Tech can still make it to the Big 12 championship game.
6. TAMU has NO CHANCE against Texas, we will CRUSH Baylor, a team who beat you by 21.
7. Tech owns TAMU in basically every men’s sport, except rugby (but that will change once I am on campus).
8. DTN rules
9. See you in LBK next year for a B-E-A-T-D-O-W-N
10. WRECK ’EM
reply
1. TAMU isn’t bowl eligible, Tech is.
Wow, I wasn’t aware of that, I totally thought teams with an under .500 record could go bowling.
2. TAMU sucks this year. Don’t give me that "we’re improving" bullsh*t, your 4-7 record begs to differ.
We suck, and yet we scored more on OU than the alleged #2 team in the nation did.
I don’t hold any delusions about how good A&M is (or isn’t), but saying that doesn’t somehow change what happened tonight.
3. TAMU got beat AT HOME, ON SENIOR DAY by a similar score.
Hence, OU is very good. Your point is…….?
4. Tech played Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma State before playing OU. Obviously, 3 straight weeks of tough games wears a team down.
Sorry, but you can’t use this excuse. texas played Oklahoma (and BEAT them), Missouri, and Oklahoma State back-to-back-to-back before traveling to Lubbock to play Tech. And Tech needed a last second TD to win the game after collapsing in the second half. Tech had a bye week to rest from their “tough” gauntlet of Kansas and Oklahoma State around texas, so the “we’re tired” excuse doesn’t hold water.
5. Tech can still make it to the Big 12 championship game.
Sure, if Oklahoma loses to Okie State. And there is still a chance I might win the lottery, but I’m not counting on it.
6. TAMU has NO CHANCE against Texas
I’ve heard that before. In 2006. Again in 2007.
7. Tech owns TAMU in basically every men’s sport, except rugby (but that will change once I am on campus).
I guess you don’t pay much attention to baseball or basketball, do you?
What is this “once I am on campus” stuff? You’re still in high school? That explains A LOT.
8. DTN rules
Yeah, Seth does a pretty damn good job here, doesn’t he? Easily the best Tech site I’ve seen.
wtf...
OK…I had to start drinking heavily in the first quarter and just started reading toward the bottom of the posts here…why in the hell does everyone sound so positive?!? That was the worst performance I have seen in watching 20 years of Tech football in literally the biggest game of the season. It is a complete embarrassment.
I won’t take anything away from those kids as we have had, and will have, a great season…but that performance was a complete effing disgrace.
I know there is still a chance at the South title and I hope we route Baylor and anyone else in our path until the end, but I just can’t get my brain around this one. I’m not mad, just incredibly disappointed.
Absolute and total domination. Blame can be equally shared by every single player and coach on the travel squad. Embarrased is an understatement…out played, out coached and out classed in every single facet a game could possibly have. I knew Tech would lose, but never did I see this coming. Nobody but a few hyperactive OU fans called for a blowout.
But in the end, we’re 10-1. If OU loses to the Cowboys, we are off to Kansas City. Win that, and it’s the BCS. If not, it is likely we’ll be headed to the Cotton Bowl or Holiday Bowl. I’m positive 8 of the other 12 teams in the conference would love to be in that spot.
As a Longhorn....
I went into the game rooting for OU (nothing personal of course) but I found myself rooting for Tech by the end of the first half. Is it still too late to put up a couple more TD’s?
