Road to recovery

Well I am worn out from writing an English paper for my literature of the southwest class, but I have work in a few hours so I am trying to kill time.  Normally I would listen to sports talk radio or watch ESPN all while reading articles about the Texas Tech football team, but due to the results of the football game this past weekend I cannot stand to hear word anything BCS related.  At this point on a Monday afternoon I am a bit sad in regards to how the game turned out, but in the long run I am pleased with the football team.  Being a third generation Red Raider I am more accustom to getting our losses out of the way early in the season.  I guess I am happy for Tech to be in the conversation at all at this point of the season because that means we have had a great season thus far.  I am fighting hard not to express my views on the BCS and the current state of college football; I may need to save that for a day when I can gather my thoughts together as an outside observer and not a fan.  Regardless of whatever system is in place the best way to be successful within the system is to just win the games.  It doesn’t matter how many yards are passed for in a game or the amount of points scored.  The only statistic that matters is in the Win column.

Also right now I am feeling a bit selfish with the success of the Texas Tech football team.  As of right now it looks as if the Red Raider football team will be playing in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.  Normally this would be a huge deal for Texas Tech.  A New Year’s Day bowl game on national television would normally be great, but as of right now I feel that it is a bit of a letdown.  I need to get my act together.   As I write I am gradually getting a clearer head about the game last Saturday night.  I will no longer dwell on the result of the game.  I am moving to Baylor, a team that has a good QB, and a head coach that knows how the Tech offence works.  I am proud of Texas Tech and look forward to the rest of this season, Men’s basketball, and next season.

Me too, Marshall

This team is still an exciting one to watch and there is still football to be played. ONWARD and UPWARD!
