UT Fans Acting like Aggies

I'm really really suprised by this.  I honestly did not think that UT fans would be acting the way they are.  Over at Burnt Orange Nation, I have read in one, just one, thread about how low class we are, how Lubbock is full of STDs, how a Tech fan came up and supposely slapped some girl that was with a UT guy for no reason (right), and finally how violent we all are, oh and we also throw batteries.  On Saturday and Sunday there was a lot of congratulations on both sides for an excellent game.  Could these people possibly just be the T-Shirt fans who have no affiliation with UT or what happened in the past 12 hours?  Just wondering if anyone else is noticing all this.

I could care less what they say in all of their frustration...

over being #1, and getting their hearts BROKEN, on the LAST play of the game, by one of their IN-STATE rivals, with a NATIONAL TITLE on the line.

Let em’ vent…I was at the game and the only crime on our part, that I saw, was upside down horns. And I was one of many criminals in our section who would probably hire Leach as our lawyer, if the Whorns would try and press charges.

It’s very typical. They were dominated all day long and they have to find something to whine about. Aggies have been making up stories like this for decades as it makes them feel better for a constant declining program. The Longhorns are better fans but also tend to make up things when they don’t go their way. Personally I have had season tickets to Tech games since graduating in 1992 and I can tell you that I have never witnessed anything like this. The goal post to the Aggie section may have been the worst thing we’ve ever done but that is it. Batteries and things of that nature would get people seriously hurt and that has never happened. Enjoy the win fellow Raiders and forget about these sore loosers!

Interesting

I had a chat today with my boss, who was in Lubbock all weekend and attended the game. We talked about how UT fans were treated and he said he never saw one thing that would raise eye brows. He said some fans were heckled a little during the game, but it was not over the top or violent or foul mouthed. It was football.

He said he ran into a ton of UT people out on the town after and they said they had been having a great time and were impressed by our passion. None had a negative thing to say about the fans. So take all the criticism with a grain of salt. I discount half of what I hear regarding negativity with Tech as hyperbole. Most people tend to VASTLY overtalk the smallest little thing – if it even happened. So don’t worry about what some visiting fan said. There was not a battery thrown, nor was there a mob scene against the Horns.

Did any Horns get in fights at the bars after the game? Probably. But did any Horns get in fights with eachother at the bars in Austin after the game? Probably.

I have found

that no matter where you see a bunch of ‘horn fans, they are rude and incredibly classless. It doesn’t seem to matter who is winning or what is happening, they are in people’s faces for little or no reason but yet Tech fans do not retaliate NOR act in the same hateful manner.

Here’s a priceless sound—a screaming mob of rude, ugly UT fans in a restaurant one second and then COMPLETE silence the next as Crabtree enters the end zone just before it hits the Tech fans that we have just won the game and we go nuts!!

tech and texas fans

Both were great. I heard smack talk back and forth all day. I saw a drunk tech fan rub the win in a little bit more than he should have and a UT fan punched him, but then the tech fan walked off. I saw a lot of congratulating on a great game. I didn’t see anything worse than that though.

Okay

Please stop.

People are people, you cannot determine what a fanbase is from isolated examples, unless of course a fanbase is actually maiming another fanbase Braveheart-style, then it’s all freaking subjective.

Team A doesn’t like Team B. That’s sports.

There are a crapload more important things to spend your time thinking about. Like this week’s matchups or how this week’s game will play out. I’ve moved on, and we should too.

One other thing, which is why I don’t comment on some of these posts and I’m not trying to demean anyone here, but I could give two s#!%s what someone says about me or my team.

I really don’t feel like I need to defend our fans.

I’m sure that 99% of most teams’ fans are well behaved human beings, it’s the bad apples that get all of the attention, and I hate them no matter who they are fans of, even Texas Tech.

My Dad is an Aggie as are 5 of my uncles and I think 15 different cousins. None of them are asses or classless (again, I absolutely hate this word). My brother graduated from UT and he also is neither an ass or classless as are none of his friends who are all UT grads. I have 4 cousins who graduated from OU are none of them are asses or classless. I fortunately know a crapload of people, many from this website, who are Texas Tech fans and none of them are asses or classless.

Generally, we’re all good people. But we’ve got to move on because right now, I only care about the Oklahoma State Cowboys. If someone thinks my team or fans are classless then I seriously doubt that I’ll ever change their opinion, or someone is just trying to draw you offsides.

Right now, we’ve got much bigger fish to fry.

Go Raiders . . .
