Why didn't Leach go for 2 on the last TD?

I'm trying to figure out why he kicked the PAT when that only put us up by 6pts. Was wondering if anyone could think of a reason why we wouldn't go for 2 there so that it's a 7 point lead and a completed hail mary in the end zone for Texas would tie the game - not win it.

I know it was a crazy scene after Crabtree scored but I could of (not likely) but still..could have come back to bite us.

Thinkin the same

Actually, I was also kinda thinkin the same thing.

Also, the guy who intercepted one of the Longhorns’ desperate laterals had noone in front of him and could’ve run for a touchdown to win the game 46-33. Of course, this would’ve been a tiny bit risky (what if he falls n fumbles etc.) and would’ve sparked a TTU vs. A&M kind of controversy about “not having respect”. I don’t think the BCS computers understand respect though. All they know is beating a #1 team by 13 points is better than beating them by 6.

Hardly matters… although the original question (about going for 2) could use an answer.

agree

just a couple weeks ago we were talking about going for two on EVERY score,
then saturday, when two would have gotten a seven point lead, the kicker comes on,
didn’t like that. the chances of even a touchdown were remote, but losing like that would
have been EPIC FAIL…

still…a what if I’m happy to talk about, much better than…

What if Blake Gideon could catch a ball?

I was thinking and then I realized

I thought this too at first while I was at the game, but a while after I left I realized how much thought Leach put into this decision. Because we were only up by 5, it was safer to go for the extra point instead of possibly throwing an interception or fumble and you never know they could return that for 2 points and make it a three point game. It would have been a long shot for this to happen, but it is my guess that this is why Mike Leach did what he did.

that could never happen on a blocked extra point…

There were really

only two options. 1) go for two, or 2) snap the ball and take a knee.

The conservative play calling in the second half is understandable, but the PAT was just a bad coaching call. Overall, I thought our coaches did an excellent job all night.
