Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Texas Tech officials this morning will break ground on the latest expansion of Jones AT&T Stadium, pushing capacity to about 60,000 and adding an expanse of luxury boxes on the building's east side.

Snip

Tech has raised about $28 million for the project, which is expected to cost about $25 million.

A lot less than the crowd noise would indicate

It is technically 53,000, but they squeeze in about 55K for big games.

I’m curious where you got your statistics from that the average is about 45,000 fans? You didn’t link anything and I’m going to assume you have no idea since it doesn’t look like you went to Tech. I have seen you pick fights in everything lately on DTN whether it relates to Texas or not. In your bio you put class of 2004. Does that mean high school? Everyone knows it takes a big man to talk shit behind a computer and you’re the king of it right now. I went to every home conference game this year and I believe they were all sold out, hence I don’t see where you got your 45k number from. It’s one thing to defend Texas but it’s another to continue to make an ass of yourself.

UT Class of '04.

My job sent me to Lubbock quite often (before grad school) and I have close friends there at Tech (in Medical/Law school). Beautiful campus, and beautiful stadium. I have attended 5-6 Tech games at Jones in the last 2-3 seasons (including the Texas and OU upsets which were both great games).

But, I have noticed major differences in attendance at other games (SMU this season comes to mind, and my friends who were at Baylor said it was also quiet and there were lots of no-shows). The stadium is great, but like every team, attendance is affected by time of game and opponent. That’s all I was saying. UT has had official sellouts for every game this year, but ask anyone about Baylor, and there were easily 15,000 empty seats at DKR that week. Didn’t mean to offend you, sir. Not my intent.

Easy boys…let’s play nice in other people’s houses…and let’s be decent hosts…

Call me a doubter, but I don’t know any true college grads, much less post-grads, who feel it necessary to troll other school’s sites talking smack. That level of maturity is inconsistent with a real graduate. This is not his first ‘accidental’ negative post by any means. I saw him over at BON earlier in the day trashing Tech as hard as he could. And no, I didn’t see any post by Tech fans over there.

FWIW, the school (Tech) listed it’s average attendance this year at an average of 100.4% of rated capacity (before the Baylor game).

The best way

to dismiss jokers who enter this and other Tech spaces simply to say negative things about Tech, Lubbock and the people there, is to simply ignore their banter. The ONLY reason they come over is to entice someone or more to answer or dispute his/her posts. Just don’t recognize such childishness. They will slowly fade away into the reddish-orange clay that is the same color of their blood…..Texas Tech is and always will be the better school, regardless of what those pathetic little gnomes try to write.

There were no students at the Baylor game because all the students were at least 350 miles away celebrating Thanksgiving.

How are 1,000 seats, 500 club seats, and 20 suites going to up the capacity by 7,000 total seats? Those 20 suites would have to seat 175 people each for that to work. Either they’ve decided to actually use the extra dough to build more or there’s some funky math.

After all is said and done, more is said than done.

Big 12 Champ

So do Tech, Texas, and OU get to put up a banner saying that they were the 2008 Big 12 South Champion?

by ST04 on Dec 1, 2008 10:38 AM CST reply actions

Don’t see why not. Our banner just has to be bigger and better than theirs. Spend that spare $3m on the nicest Co-Champions banner ever.

Yes

All three teams were presented a Big XII South Division Championship trophy. They can all claim the co-championship equally.
