Texas Tech Thursday Morning Notes - Outside Range Edition

Double-T Nation News:

There are two articles that I want to highlight this morning, the first being Sports Illustrated's Austin Murphy's piece on Texas Tech's win over Texas. No blockquotes, this is a must read. This article is in this week's SI magazine.

Second, hat-tip to Vince, Rivals.com's Terry Bowden writes that Texas Tech's win over Texas was no upset. Again, no blockquotes, this is certainly worth your time.

Don't forget to make your picks for DTN's Yahoo College Football Pick 'Em League

Texas Tech Football:

Not many local items out there today.

DT's Alex Ybarra with a Texas Tech Football Notebook. Nothing really noteworthy other than Captain Leach being nominated for the Bear Bryant College Coach of the Year Watch List by the Paul "Bear" Bryant Awards committee, as is Mike Gundy, Mack Brown and Bob Stoops.

Check out Joe Duarte's Big 12 Notebook to get caught up on conference things.

The DMN takes a look at the 5 most impressive wins for both Oklahoma State and Texas in their history.

Behind Enemy Lines: LAJ's Adam Zuvanich on Oklahoma State's triple-threat attack . . . FWST's Jimmy Burch says that Oklahoma State is already feeling like a champion . . . DT's Alex Ybarra writes that Oklahoma State is the most blananced offense Texas Tech has faced . . . SAEN's Buck Harvey profiles OSU coach Mike Gundy . . .

Texas Tech Recruiting:

Texas Tech received another commitment, as noted by DTN user Boarder earlier yesterday, from Romario Cathey a defensive tackle from Nashville, Tennessee:

Romario Cathey

Position: DT
Rivals Profile
Scout Profile
ESPN Profile
Ht: 6'3"
Wt: 275 lbs
Forty: 5.40 secs
High School: Maplewood (Nashville, TN)

Romario, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!

Texas Tech Basketball:

LAJ's Jeff Walker hasn't written much about this year's squad but had some observations about the team in his blog, Above the Rim:

Damir Suljagic made some nice passes, took a steal and drove the length of the floor for a dunk (Can’t remember seeing that since his battle with injuries).

Michael Prince was very active on the boards early in practice, getting several tip-ins and offensive boards.

Freshman Corbin Ray is at full strength and showed some outside range.

Mike Singletary is vocal, could be the voice of the team at some point.

ROFL

this should have been your quote for the article from SI.

“The plan,” says Leach, "was to squib-kick it to a fat guy.

Leach is great

If you not having fun....then your not playing the game right.
