Considering the large number of new readers at DTN, I thought this was a good explanation of FanPosts vs. FanShots.

only problem with fanshots and fanposts is that there is still a hole when it comes to something like a quick or hypothetical question posed to readers.

But you could possibly utilize a link FanShot and fill in some of the text (see above), but a poll option would be a good idea.
