We are about to get our @ss kicked
Isn't anyone else scared of this game? It's great we had a good season with some lucky breaks, but we barely beat Baylor for god's sake! This defense is going to kick our ass all damn day. I hope Leach quits thinking about who he's coaching next and starts thinking about how not to get our sh!t rocked Jan.2. We need to quit the "we should be in a BCS" bullsh!t and get serious. We're Texas Tech. Did y'all know they held they're last opponent to 37 TOTAL YARDS!

WTF?
You my friend need to go get an Aggie sweatshirt while they are still on close-out. For peat’s sake, they played Miss St who knew their coach was gone. Ole Miss is pretty good, but not good enough for the “greatest show on turf”. We will will by at least two touches. If you want to worry about something, worry that we will be even better in 2009 than this year. Oh my, how will we handle the exposure?

We didn't go 11-1 because of lucky breaks
But you’re right about getting our stuff together. I think they’re taking final exams right now, but I hope they seriously get amped up for those games. I’m tired of watching the greatest gomeback ever, and what the heck was that pathetic performance the last time we were in the Cotton. I love Mike Leach and where we are, but maybe we need to bring in Jimmy Johnson to give the boys a pep talk, cause we take a while to get going.
AND: I was in Tech’s endzone during the “Keyshawn Johnson Show” in the first quarter of the 1995 Cotton Bowl. I have Tech Street cred. I actually thought those were bad seats when we the game started, turned out I had the best seat in the house. I hand’t felt that bad since that day until the OU debacle a few weeks ago.
Pleas, please don’t make me like that again Tech.

Their last opponent was Mississippi State. Hardly an offensive juggernaut.
It is going to be a good game, similar to the Virginia game. I just hope we don’t have to have another determined comeback this year in order to win the game. In other words, Harrell has to figure out what’s been ailing him these last two weeks and get over that in the first quarter.
offensively, Mississippi State is most similar to Kansas, though that’s a stretch. They will do whatever it takes to gain yards and we’re going to see what our defense will do against a wildcat formation, but the strength of this team is their balance.

It's one of Houston Nutt's favorites
He ran Felix Jones and Darren McFadden out of the Wildcat with great effect during his time at Arkansas, too. I’m interested to see whether Ruffin decides to scheme against it right out of the gate or just let them run over our D for a quarter or two before making adjustments.

What's the spread?
When was the last time TTU went into a bowl game as a favorite? Seems like they’ve done well in bowls lately because they had something to prove/show. I agree, the scary part is that they’ll be shunned as a pretender if they lose and not given much props for beating a #25 if they win.

Assuming final exams do not dismantle their team..........
they should play us pretty close for the first half. I expect that the Good Captain will have a little something to prove to SEC-light anyway.

More like a rant for UT
I would say that any points made that Tech should be in the BCS have made up an acceptable percentage of the conversations on here. Obviously, we’ve been talking more about Leach so I’m not going to complain about any seemingly excessive talk about the BCS.
I would think that we need to let all the players first get through finals and all the awards presentations. Then we can start worrying if the focus doesn’t seem to be there.

could play a roll. However, if it is bad, I like ourr chances better than theirs. Do not be concerned, this team is better prepared week-in and week-out than in previous years. I look forward to a really good game…for a half. After Leach has found out what works best, Harrell will start dismantling the Rebel defense. I would like to say we will win by a lot, but any win will do right now. I do think a couple of touchdowns will be the difference, with Tech on top at the final whistle. So, GET YOUR GUNS UP! YELL LOUD AND LONG! WRECK ’EM, TECH!
ps: I think our defense will surprise the SEC Ole Miss Rebs quite a bit.

There’s nothing wrong about having a positive attitude, but these guys we’re playing aren’t chopped liver and they’re not going to lay down for us. I’ve never seen them play so all I can do is look at the numbers
First the obvious: They are #25 and have a record of 8-4. They are second in the SEC-West and third overall in the SEC behind Florida (12-1), Alabama (12-1), and Georgia (9-3).
Their first 4 games were pretty weak. They beat Memphis and Samford and lost to Vandy (6-6), and Wake Forest (7-5 and whipped Baylor). But if you look from that point on, they don’t look nearly as weak. . They beat Florida by 1 on the road. They lost to Alabama by 4, also on the road. The 7-point to loss to So. Carolina (7-5) came sandwiched between Florida and Bama.
After Alabama, they haven’t lost since. They finished their season with 5 straight wins (4 over SEC opponents). During that 5 game stretch, they out-scored their opponents 175 to 41. Two things seem clear – they have been on a hot streak since they started playing their conference games and they are improving as a team. And they can sure get up for the big games and maybe have a letdown before/after the big ones. Sound familiar?
Nobody on this team has been to a bowl game. That can be spun either way – no experience or highly pumped. And they have a really good coach. I seem to remember being badly out-coached recently in another big game against a good coaching staff.
And how about us? After a weak OOC schedule, we weren’t setting the world on fire. We only played two quarters against A&M and tried real hard to give away the Nebraska game. Then we had a great 3-game stretch, maybe the best Tech has ever had. But what have we done since then? We’ve only played 2 quarters out of the last 8. Yes, we woke up and came back against Baylor, but don’t forget those two turnover-negating penalties on the winning drive. It hard to say we haven’t had a little luck this year Looking at our season as a whole, we know we can play lights out when properly coached and motivated, but we should also know that doesn’t happen all the time.
By the time we get to Dallas, those guys will have been hearing for a month about our whining because we got seeded against such a weak team. Their coaches will make sure of that. Remember when California was highly ranked and was pissed off about having to play a weak Tech team in a bowl game? But we were hungry and we whipped their butts.
So let’s not get all cocky here. This Ole Miss team is hungry and they can damn sure get up for the big games. We can beat them and maybe even put an old-fashioned whooping on them, but only if we show up with our A game.

wow this is disgraceful
while i will be the first to admit that we are not focused right now, but then again name a bowl we have been focused for in the past 5 years, there is no reason to say these things!! I think we will be just fine, especially after this coaching business is behind us! wreck em tech!

Again, I think this game will be close but Tech wins because of home field advantage
Mudh’ole Miss is a VERY good football team…they lost 4 games by a total of 19 points, one of those losses was to Alabama 24 to 20 AND they beat Florida at Florida…plus, they are going to be geeked up out of their minds for this game, their players have never been to a bowl, and their first one is A COTTON BOWL!…they have to feel very confident right now! I’m just not sure our guys will be happy to be there. And I will be paying VERY CLOSE attention to interviews, quotes in the paper and such, to try and get a feel for that. But I’m not even sure it’s possible to know as a fan though, cause you know they are gonna say all the right things.
On a side note that kinda contradicts the 1st part of this post>>>I don’t think we had that bad of a game against Baylor. Our Heisman candidate QB shattered 2 fingers early in the 2nd qter, our Heisman candidate WR went down early in the 3rd qter, and Wall and Charbonet neither one played a down in that game. That is a whole lot of talent on the sidelines or in Harrell’s case playin injured.

Be Comfortable in who we are
Crabtreeforheis,
Take a Zantac and look for some perspective (forgive me, I am not familiar with being the voice of reason). Wake Forest and Vandy found a way to beat this behemuth. Could we lose, hell yes. 4th and 4 on our own 20, and we throw for 40 yards.
Get out the boots, the flask and your favorite Tech shirt…..and get to the Cotton bowl and enjoy the ride. Maybe its my 25 years of being a Red Raider, but I am all over Leach’s ‘let it fly’ philosophy. I would give a year of my life to not have to hear the chants of ‘SEC’ like after the last Cotton Bowl.
Just know, we will go into it doing what we do…and it won’t be boring. I like our chances, a lot. Chillax and enjoy your team.

Tech will win big
I’m not worried about these guys at all. I know you think that may be crazy but I can see us laying 21+ on them. We have a great deal of frustration that will unfortunately be laid on Ole Miss. I know they’re better than the Eli team we beat on years ago but 8-4 going agianst our 11-1 with the weapons we have sounds like a bad joke.
I wish I could be more excited about this game but it’s just not happening. I’m looking forward to next season more with anticipation. I just hope Bradford enters the NFL draft. I’m not worried about Colt. I think Tech can beat Texas again next season in Austin. Anyway I digress. Sorry.

Go Rebels
Just messing with y’all. I’m an Ole Miss fan just stirring up a mess. I am very nervous about this game. We have an excellent defensive front, but our secondary is suspect. If we can’t get pressure on Harrell you’ll roll. Looking forward to playing a quality team such as yourself.
I would be happy to answer any questions about the rebels that you have.
Sorry about the delusion. I couldn’t resist.

Usually we draw and quarter enemy spies,
but since it’s such a long drive to Miss. we may wait till you come to Dallas. Be sure and wear a red carnation in your lapel. :-)
I’m thinking (hoping) that our guys come out seriously motivated by the lack of respect they’ve been getting from the BCS and folks like the Heisman Committee. They’ve been called the underdogs all year according to the press and it gets under their skin.
How did Ole Miss play so well against Bama and Florida and then get beat by lesser teams? Was it a mental thing? Just getting high for the big games? Tell us about your offense. How did they put up such big numbers in the last few games?

it's very simple
we had the turnover bug bad. In the loss to South Carolina and Vanderbilt we probabaly turned the ball over 10 times. It was a nightmare. We still almost beat them anyway. Without TO’s it would have been an ass-stomping. We turned it over against Wake and went up with a minute left, but they kicked a field goal late. Once we got the turnovers fixed; we couldn’t lose. No one has really beaten us this year except ourselves and Bama.
We were able to beat Florida with pressure on the QB. This team seems to like adversity. At LSU; the louder their fans got the harder we hit them. The Ole Miss team from the second half of the year would beat the Ole Miss team from the first half by 30. It’s strange.

So the secret to beating Ole Miss
is have the Tech fans be VERY quiet during the game. That, and keeping Graham from getting hit. Sounds like we’ve got our gameplan Capt. Leach!

8-4
Yep, i wouldnt look too much into that 8-4 VS 11-1 thing being a “bad joke”. If yall could have simply watched all these games Ole Miss played you would then see how they could very well be undefeated right now. I know, i know, coulda, woulda, shoulda, but there worst defeat was by 7, & as stated above it was the fumbles early in the year that killed them. They played some VERY tough SEC teams & two of the best on the road losing only by 4 to Alabama AT Alabama & beating Florida AT Florida. Not to take anything away from TT’s record but yalls first 5 teams you played arent exactly top 20 or even had a winning record i dont believe? Dont :cuss" me:-) I’m only pointing out a few things & i know very well that i could be eating my words & yes i do believe it should be an exciting game, especially if they “both” bring there “A” game!! By the way, we also have a “Texas” boy that has been throwing as good as any of those 3 on tv the other night!!:-) & Yes, i think Graham shoulda been there too!! Take care

We didn’t know that their worst loss was by 7, I am sure the gameballs for losing to Wake Forest and Vandy by less than five must adorn the campus with a lot of pride

Yeah, they are right next to the Cottonbowl trophy!! Hotty Totty!!! I warned yall not to look at that “8-4” record. Ole Miss has proven that they can play with “anyone” in the country, it’s just ashame we had a fumble problem early in the year. It was a good game though just as i hoped!! Take care.
