Keys to the Game:

  1. No Okorie: Because Okorie won't be available for tonight's game, I'd like to see a little more emphasis inside, especially with Roberts and Singletary, if he starts. I have no issue with Cook taking his man outside, but Singletary and Roberts should be able to take advantage of the smaller Lamar defenders.
  2. What Is Lamar: Per KenPom, they stink, and it's not even close. They've played some teams very close for a while (Indiana State was a close game) but statistically, Lamar is horrible defensively and Junior Knight should be able to take advantage of that.
  3. The Bench: With Okorie and Prince out, the bench is just a tad thinner. Expect to see more Tyree Graham, Rogdrick Craig, Robert Lewandowski and Darko Cohadarevic in their absense.

GO RAIDERS . . .

*Stats can be found at Ken Pomeroy: K.P. Rank = the Ken Pomeroy Rank; Offensive Efficiency = the national rank in terms of points scored per 100 possessions; Defensive Efficiency = the national rank in terms of points allowed per 100 possession. Numbers in parentheses are national rank.

I watched some of Lamar against Lousiville

and they really looked pretty bad

then again, UL is incredibly athletic and deep, which Tech isn’t

I became weirdly interested in Lamar a few years ago when Tubbs returned there for some reason

Texas Tech Basketball

may be on the rise faster than anyone would have expected. This is a really good, well coached team. Junior has made this HIS team and all the experience he has gained over the years has made this ‘transition’ period a short one. Look forward to us surprising some of the favorites in conference play, finishing in the top 5 of the conference, with at least 20 wins and making it to the NCAA playoffs. If Tyree starts producing like it is anticipated ge will, they could become VERY good and move up in the standings. One thing I would like to see, though, is more use of Mike Singletary. He is as phenominal an athlete for basketball as Michael Crabtree is for football. USE HIM MORE!

I said earlier, before the game

“This is a really good, well coached team”….Maybe, but the way they shot the ball tonight, they are a long way from being a really good team. Lamar has ZIP. Losing to them is like losing to Lubbock Coronado High School. What a disgrace. If I was their coach, they would spend every minute of practice shooting balls and dribbling-holding on to the ball. Is Junior too easy on this group, that they think they can just show up and expect to win without trying? Yuk.
