Women's College Volleyball
I just wanted to write this short post in appreciation for Women's College Volleyball.
I'm not sure how many of you guys keep up with this stuff, but Texas Tech is really bad. We didn't win a conference match all year. We are currently looking for a new coach (and almost pulled the coach of the men's national team before he decided to be the next women's national coach).
That said, watching these two teams, Nebraska and Penn State, go at it is an event every bit the match in excitement as a football game between two teams you don't really care about. Penn State has 108 straight wins and 0 losses. Before tonight, they hadn't lost a set all year. Nebraska came back from 2 sets down to tie it at 2-2. They wound up losing in the 5th set after a valiant effort, but still. What a great match.
I write this in the hopes that Texas Tech Women's Volleyball can build a program to compete with these big boys... err girls.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

As I have posted before
I do not understand how or why TT does not obtain all that talent in the panhandle.Amarillo High,Hereford and Bushland as well as other teams are not only TEXAS power houses but known nation wide. How can you overlook a team who has won a State tital the last three years? Not to mention a national tital once before. Is it a Lubbock vs Amarillo thing?Or could you start by getting rid of your coaching staff from top to bottom.Tech can and should be a powerhouse with the right people in place.

I think that’s the start is getting a decent coaching staff in place. After that it’s getting the recruiting to the point of being competitive and then getting the attendance to the point of being… attended.
The downside to this sport (as well as women’s soccer) is that it’s a fall sport and in Lubbock that means that it’s right up against football.

This is true. That’s the power of a national championship caliber team, though. I’m not sure how much movement there is in the world of volleyball. I wouldn’t be surprised if 8 of the top 10 have been the same for the past 10 years.

Wait...
they keep score in Women’s Volleyball? I must have been distracted every time I’ve seen it. Can’t imagine why.

if you watch enough of it or watch it in standard definition (vs HD), you get used to the novelty enough that you can appreciate all aspects of the sport.

Volleyball is awesome to watch. And If the basketball teams can (or used to draw) full houses, then If TECh would start winning they could pack them in.You compared that football is going on in the fall.If both basketball teams are winning they bring in the fans, It’s all about winning. The football coach could PR allot during the season for the team that would intrest the students to go.But first you have to have a devoted coach.Second devoted players. And that devotion should be nothing but to win.I hope this happens.
