IF HE LEAVES.....HE LEAVES! DON'T PANIC
I love the excitement that the lead Pirate has brought to the Red Raider nation. But please remember that coaching is a business! If he were 6-6 fans and administrators would be screaming for him to be fired! (See Pablo's comments over the past few months about firing coaches). If he goes then we need to load up the moneybags and PISS OFF THE BAPTISTS AND SECURE ART BRILES! Briles is a high school coaching legend with four championships at Stephenville. He is a raider who coaches running backs here. He is a winner (See Houston and the job he has done at Baylor). He is loved by Texas high school coaches cause he is one of them. And in my opionion (with absolutely no basis of fact or inside information) I believe that Tech would be his dream job. He would be home! He would be a hero to the Texas high school coaches association! He would run the spread and continue the excitement! AND HE WOULD NOT BE LOOKING TO GO ANYWHERE! HE WOULD BE HOME!! And surrounded by folks that talk like him with his Texas drawl! I hope Captain Leach stays......but if he dosen't...........GET ART BRILES AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$$$$$$$
The Baptists have more money than Tech.
He is not the kind of guy to pull a Saban.
I to would love to see him at Tech, but I just don’t see it happening.
VIVA LA FIGA!
Bill Parcells
If your going to throw alot of money at a former Tech coach then I would throw it at Bill.
I know, I know there is not a chance in Bryan that this will happen, but man, wouldn’t it make
the T-sippers butts pucker.
VIVA LA FIGA!
seriously
They don’t have more $$$ than us. Their alumni have their hands full paying back their student loans for their over priced degrees, which hold absolutely no value outside the state of Texas. We’re one of the 3 state schools in a state of 24,000,000, plus we fill a 56,000 seat stadium week in and week out. Have you ever seen that dump they call a stadium down there? Its like they have the end zone area of the bowl painted yellow because they can’t fill that piece of crud stadium. What kid wants to go to Baylor?
Altenative for Leach
I agree that Briles will be a decent replacement (but only short term). Remember even at Houston he could not build a team that would be a powerhouse in his conference. I disagree that baptists have more athletic budget than we do. But really after where Leach has take us I am thinking one of the following:
1. Chris Petersen (Boise state)
2. Tommy Tuberville (just got fired at Auburn, loves competition, loves challenge)
I like Tommy Tuberville more than Briles or Chris Petersen, though our football team will turn into a defensive powerhouse from being an offensive machine
Heard something on ESPN yesterday
One their reporters (Tim Griffin?) mentioned that Coach Knight and Coach Sharp were still on the payroll and that was hindering how much the university/athletic dept could pay Leach. Anybody know if that is true?
Briles
Briles would be a good fit for Tech, but is it realistic to think he would leave Baylor after 1 year? I live in Houston, and saw first hand what he did there and it was amazing! People really underestimate the work he did there, UH has possibly the most undiciplined players I have ever seen. Getting them to play as a unit is nothing short of a miracle. I also think his system would fit the recruits we have and player scheme here at Tech.
Honestly I wonder though, even if we got Briles… could you trust a coach who would leave after a year somewhere else?
Briles will be a step down
Briles may have done a decent job at Houston, but he did not make Houston the numero uno even in Conference USA. He will drive Tech down to mediocrity. His offenses (though system based) are predictable and defenses are weak. I am not a huge Briles fan, because even after having the supposed ‘inside track’ to recruiting, he could not get players even good enough to win the conference usa regularly for Houston nor take it to a BCS bowl inspite of weaker competition, he will make a mockery of Tech in the big XII. He might be a good coordinator but probably not a great coach. But I could be wrong.
