The Bye week......
All this chatter about Leach taken off, has got me wondering about a few things. Remember that one interview about Coach Leach liking Lubbock and basically saying that it would be dumb for someone to leave in this type is situation (it was only a few weeks ago, on raider talk.... i dont live in lubbock anymore, forgot the name of the program)?
Now Coach Leach has made talks with Washington. I am not trying to bash the guy.... keep reading. I wonder if their were tempers flarred before the OU game. You had seen how Tech had beaten the #1 team in the nation, then destroyed a very good top 10 team. In Norman, Tech was not themselves.... everyone knows that. Very little emotion on the sidelines... even when they were down 42-7. Harrell did not look himself, nor did the rest of the team. Even the game against Baylor.... didnt seem like they were in sync. It got me to thinking that something had happened during the bye week before the Sooner game.
Think about it.... Tech was hitting on all cylinders, moving the ball, scoring points, stopping offenses, producing turnovers. None of that was shown against the Sooners. I wonder if the AD and/or Myers had anything to do with that? I wonder if they had ticked Coach Leach off during that week? Putting his job on the line, telling him he HAD to win. I dont know Coach Leach personally, but what I do know is this..... He is not the type of person you want to tell you HAVE to do this or that. Am I saying he threw the game to prove a point? I dont know if that happened. I will say this though.... that was not the team we fans and supporters have seen all season, nor against Baylor.
I have thought thoroughly about this.... I also understand that the man loves working with his players and his coaches. He expects nothing less than 100% out of them, and that he would not want to do anything to jeopardize their future. I also understand he is not a guy you want to piss off... IE... Shannon Woods last season. Now having talks with Washington and considering the Auburn job. He loves Lubbock and people that surround it. He is apart of it, but when political talk comes into play with his career as well as putting his job on the line..... i guess any person would draw the line on that standpoint.
Something is not right about this whole situation. Before the UT game, he was all about Lubbock, about it being dumb to leave, about him being second in winning percentage and second most in wins as a Tech Coach. He seemed like he was aiming for something more as the Texas Tech Head Coach. He knew that UT and OU had just as high calibar athletes that he had this season. That its going to be a dog fight with both these teams this season, but he knew he had a chance in overcoming it. After the OU game, he did not show that emotion towards the game that was just played, like he usually had done when they had lost a game. He looked tired and somewhat stressed, simply stating that his team did too much. Something had to have happened behind close doors during the BYE week. What are your thoughts???

I mean, maybe.
But that’s all kind of a stretch, ya know?

Interesting
But I don’t think that’s it. I think he’s just the sort of guy who always will listen to offers. I dislike that about him, but the reality is it’s hard to fault him for that. If other companies called me every year and had something interesting to say, I’d probably at least listen. I don’t think I’d do it quite so brazenly, but then again coaching is a totally different type of career field and this sort of flirting it accepted.

Not sure....
I don’t think all that happened but the bye week really threw us off. At first I thought it might be good but as the time when on I tended to have a bad feeling about allowing OU that much time to change a few things defensively. They know our offense and we smoked them last year but I know they worked on some different defensive drills because Stoops said they did. So anyway, Wreck’em Tech Keep Leach

into consideration.....
Him and his wifes’ family also live closer to Washington than Texas. Thats another equation into this factor…. he also likes to surf and the ocean. I certainly hope the guy does not go, but good luck to him and his family no matter his decision.
What kind of worries me, is this. The former Tech Coaches that have left to other FBS schools, have been disappointments for that particular school. Look at Jim Carlen, Steve Sloan, Jim Moore (FBS records), and David Williams records as head coaches after departing Tech. Williams went back to UT, but only produced two winnng seasons before getting booted.
Hopefully Coach Leach doesnt follow in the same trend if he decides to leave, that would be a disappointment.

I just think we ran into a buzz-saw
and still don’t have the mental toughness to respond (OU game). Same thing in re BU. They were feeling like a bunch of front runners and expected BU to roll-over after they saw us walk onto the field or they were “down” after OU-take your pick . They saw Baylor was serious and had some skills, and got it in gear. I watched the youtube video of Leach getting the kids to come back at halftime in the Minnesota game, and it was great, but if I have one problem with Leach, and don’t get me wrong, I love him, it’s that we seem to get “snake-bit” alot, and blown-out/had to come from behind alot.

i know leach personally
and he is NOT the type of person to ever throw a game. He cares too much, has too much integrity and pride in his team to ever do something like that. It’s as simple as this: OU knows his offense. He was Bob Stoops defensive coordinator, and Leach hasn’t changed his offense since. It’s not that hard to understand especially when you watch him execute, so Stoops, every single year, has an advantage because he knows what’s coming. And we knocked OU out of national championship hopes last year, so you KNOW they came out for blood and revenge. We just didn’t have much going for us….we were facing a coach who knew what offense would pose, an angry OU team that wanted to get even for what we did last year, and we were playing in Norman, where Stoops has only lost 2, count them 2, games at home out of 62. That’s is just plain ridiculous. As for Baylor, it’s a wake-up call that they aren’t the pushovers of the Big XII like they used to be. Two words: ROBERT GRIFFIN. That kid is a beast, and he’s only going to get better. I predict BU gets some major upsets in the next two years. Don’t be surprised.
I think Leach could go to Auburn, but only because the SEC has no true dominant teams…once Tebow leaves, the Gators will go downhill, so he’d have the perfect opportunity to build something strong and win. He’d have no OU’s or UT’s to compete with every year. I can’t say I’d blame him if he went, but I’m praying hard that he stays. Lubbock needs him for at least one more year. Just one more year to show what his genuis mind has left. I’ll give my salary for him to stay (not that’s its much), but pray and trust that he’ll stay! GO TECH!

merit
This warrents merit. It sure looked like a different team.In fact that is the only thing that I have dissagreed with Leach on this year.saying at half time,“players trying to make to much happen”.I don’t buy that. The whole team encluding coaches looked shellshocked.
And yeah afterwards it was like -oh well. You could be right. But how would we know?

A win over OU
would have been more “in-your-face” to our administration than throwing the loss. Think of the leverage Leach would have if he were 12-0 and playing for the Big 12 Championship.
