Would rather play Georgia
in the Cotton. But they will probably go to the Captial One. They have a better record that Ole Miss, it would be a better game, I think.

We’d also destroy Georgia’s defense instead of just moving the ball on Ole Miss’s

I actually like playing Ole Miss. That was a great home-home with them a few years ago and certainly wouldn’t be opposed to playing another with them in the future if both teams wind up at the top of their divisions (like the Ohio State v. Texas one)

Why does the Orange Bowl matchup sound like a game that should be played Sept. 13?
by Tech92 on Dec 7, 2008 7:04 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I wish WISH Leach would say the same thing about Tech as Kelly just said about Cincy.

Oh geez
VaTech is in the BCS with four losses…shouldn’t the BCS do something to clean that sort of thing up? I know they won their conference, but why make these crap teams automatic qualifiers? Meh…

Go Tech!!!

Kinda knew that. I wonder if someone will fly a plane in Austin telling Mack to cheer up.

I just enjoyed seeing it in lights. Someone at BON is suggesting the Harris Poll was fixed because it came out publicly late today. Yes, there’s a nationwide anti-Texas conspiracy…jeez, I can’t tell you how happy I am that I’m not a Horn.

Saw that too

I'm not about to do the math,
but I’m curious if Leach’s vote of Texas at #5 could have affected the 0.05 difference? Seems like a long-shot, but I’m guessing that there’s going to be a ton of over-analyzing of these votes.

Stoops is glad to use Tech as a qualifier.

I saw PSU at #8. I wonder if we went up or down.
by Red Raider in South GA on Dec 7, 2008 7:23 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
We got shafted by 3 teams.

I motion that Tech moves to either the Pac10, ACC or Big East. We’d be in the BCS every single year if were over there.

Anybody notice Gary Patterson from TCU had us ranked lowest of anybody at #11? Apparently his mighty 10-2 team in a weaker conference is better than Tech because they are #10!
by pcrawttu on Dec 7, 2008 7:34 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I can’t stand Patterson, he has it out for the Big 12 for some reason.
by CR-Raider on Dec 7, 2008 8:31 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
TCU ahead of Tech???
Note to Patterson: this is the 2008 season. Appartently he thinks their win against us in previous years applies to this year. What a joke. I hope we schedule a few more games with them VERY, VERY soon. He’s definately in my top 3 most disliked coaches.

Bewildering
Looks like the Michigan State Coach, North Texas coach, Phil Fulmer and Ron Zook must either hate Texas Tech or be really envious of Leach because these 4 coaches ranked Tech 9th for nor reason. It just doesn’t make any sense. Hal Mumme has ranked us 3rd.

It's confirmed.
Coaches voting should not happen. I was just looking at the same thing.

Ty Willingham had us low too. I wonder if there is a corelation to the schools Leach was supposed to have gone to to how those coaches (Fullmer and Willingham) voted.
by Red Raider in South GA on Dec 7, 2008 7:42 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Willingham can bite me, if that’s how he thinks then I’m glad he got jobbed, and if he doesn’t get another head coaching gig he won’t get to vote anymore. You wanna put us below all the 1 loss teams in the 7-9 range (9 if below Boise St), then I can understand that. I don’t LIKE it, but I can understand it. If you SOMEHOW dropped us to 10 because you put us below Ball St which you moved up to the top 9 (since they ARE undefeated), then I could accept that. But there is absolutely ZERO excuse for putting us below “traditional power” Ohio State. NONE whatsoever.
-Better record? check (we’re 11-1, they are 10-2)
-Blow-out loss? yeah, FOR BOTH (yes, we lost badly to OU, OSU got killed by USC and what’re those rankings? (for Ty) OU #1, USC #3, last I checked #1 > #3)
Maybe that’s his vote to symbolize how the Big 10 is better than the Big 12, in which case he’s an idiot. And yeah, Patterson putting TWO 10-2 teams above us is a moron too, altho, in his defense on TCU at least TCU is HIS team, that OSU garbage just really ticks me off.
by HeeroTX on Dec 8, 2008 10:44 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Willingham's ballot is kind of comforting, actually
it would be sickening to see his ballot put together with anything better than the crushing weight of incompetence, laziness, and lack of attention to detail that he brings to bear coaching the winless Huskies. It would mean those poor kids were getting something less than his best effort.
by mojavereject on Dec 8, 2008 10:55 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I don’t mind, to be honest, as long as they didn’t have any 10-2 teams ranked above us. Keep in mind, there are 9 12-0 or 11-1 teams (with a claim) this year.
Patterson’s #11 and under the mighty #10 TCU Horned frogs is pretty ridiculous.
by kayakyakr on Dec 7, 2008 7:45 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Patterson
is a tool and he deserves TCU for an eternity.

the coaches poll
gets bogged down in lots of personal politics and coaching family tree nonsense eg Stoops proteges showing the Sooners love on a consistent basis. Let’s face it, these guys probably watch less football than anyone else who’s heavily involved in the sport, so that leaves a huge hole that generally gets filled with preconceived notions, gamesmanship, and petty personal politics.
by mojavereject on Dec 7, 2008 10:55 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
The REAL sad thing in all this…. TECH is ranked #4 in the computers. The OU blowout killed us in the other polls, but , we had a chance to control our destiny this year. We need to remeber that. Now,,,, lets kick some OLE MISS a33. AND MOVE ON!!!
by DR.MARK on Dec 7, 2008 9:09 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I love
the whopping 2 minutes of coverage our game got during the show. Honestly, does the national media have some sort of issue with Tech? It seems like ESPN is always doing this (spelling our players names wrong, getting stats wrong for our team, using the wrong logo for our team (tennessee tech’s logo)—)

On a radio interview during Big 12 Champ Game:
The Guy asking our conference commissioner about how strong Okla, Texas, OSU, and “Texas A&M” are this year, should the tie breaker be changed? Dan Beebe didn’t even correct the guy. I will forgive the girl on an airplane departing Boston for asking me if Texas Tech and Texas A&M were “Trade Schools,” but you’d think the “Commish of the more taste league” would step up for us.
by Plano Jeff on Dec 8, 2008 9:54 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Bebe is a d__k
What a tool this guy is. Not only did he not correct the interviewer, he should have been lobbying for all three 11-1 teams to get into the BCS. Does he not understand the money involved?

Me? I’m gonna be so hyped over the Orange Bowl I’ll probably forget to watch the Cotton.

I’ll probably just watch M*A*S*H reruns.
