Nice job by Chad Bettis. Bettis pitched the Red Raiders to a 6-2 win over the Sooners on Saturday. It looks like Bettis gave Texas Tech 7.0 solid innings of 6 hit ball, allowing only 2 runs, 1 earned, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. James Leverton pitched the final 2.0 innings, giving up 1 hits, walking 1 and striking out 2. This is how it is supposed to work. Excellent job.

At the plate, no one managed more than 1 hit for the day, but Logan Leslie pinch hit for Taylor Ashby and came through with a pinch hit single to right, scoring Kieschnick and Richburg. This was all part of a 4 run 6th inning, which put the Red Raiders ahead of the Sooners. Jason Seefeld hit is his 9th home run of the year, while Chris Richburg, Willie Rueda and Chris Hall all each had an RBI.

LAJ's George Watson recaps yesterday's win over Oklahoma, and has this from Bettis, who was pitching on his birthday:

"For pitching on my birthday for the first time I just wanted to come out and get a win," said Bettis (4-3), who allowed just one earned run, walked two and struck out two to earn his first victory since March 16 at Texas A&M. "When Logan came through with that pinch hit I was ecstatic. I knew we would get the runs eventually, it's just the point in which they came."

Logan Leslie on his pinch hit single:

"I got two fastballs and I felt like I got good swings on them," said Leslie, who was 4-for-12 as a pinch hitter going into the game. "I choked up a little bit on the bat trying to protect the plate and put it in play with two strikes. I got a slider in I could handle and put it into the gap. Coming up as a pinch-hitter you're usually going to see one fastball and get something to hit, and they will come after you. I just tried to stay aggressive and swing at pitches in the zone."

Fox34 with your incredibly exciting highlights from Saturday's game, including interiews with Hays, Bettis and Leslie. The slide from Kieschnick was exciting.
