Sept 6 in Reno

Any Red Raiders going to Reno for the game on Sept 6?  I live in the Bay Area and hope to make the trek.  I've got a few months to work out the details, but I'd drop everything at the last minute to go out there.  I haven't been to a game since '06 in El Paso.

I'm not writing any more words to get this post to 75 words.  I've said all I need to say for now.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

I am moving to the west coast in a couple of months and am planning on attending the Nevada game. I will have to wait and see how my work schedule plays out, but I’m going to make every attempt to attend.

Red Raiders in Reno

Count me in—if the kids aren’t on the road for a soccer tourney, we’re heading to Reno from the Bay Area. It’s been too long since I’ve been to a Tech game…

Well, CalTexan,

you will be in for a treat! At first, watching our offense in person can be frustrating because we really don’t throw the ball downfield a ton. We may this year, or for sure next year if Potts takes over because of his massive arm. But the dink and dunk doesn’t look sexy at first. I remember my first Tech game in person with Leach as the coach (vs. Baylor in Lubbock). We won, but I was pulling my hair out at the chuck and duck routine. Obviously, we’re better at it today : )

But I was soo used seeing a QB drop back and fling it 15-20 yards at least once or twice a qtr and we didn’t do that. I was a little frustrated. We still don’t to a large extent.

But now, viewing the chaos in the secondary is something to behold in person. There are literally 10 people (including DBs) running around in every direction and angle between the line of scrimmage and 15 yards down field. You don’t get to see that on TV. What’s funny, is in person you will ALWAYS see at least two guys open on every play. The major downside to the offense is that inside the 20, it’s not near as hard to defend. Thus explaining our wicked proficiency between the 20s and the tendency to struggle inside the 20 (though last year we improved a ton in that area). Have a blast at the game, I’m sure it will be a scoring fest.
