Texas Tech Friday Morning Notes - Up To 225 Pounds Now Edition

Double-T Nation News:

First and foremost, a big tip-of-the-hat to each and everyone of you who checked-in yesterday. If you haven't commented yet, then please feel free to leave a comment, I think it's great to learn about you guys.

Texas Tech Football:

I mentioned this last night, but it appears that Texas Tech is scheduled to play a home and home with Houston beginning in 2009. Here's the article from the Chron, which is that this is a step-up for Houston (it's a step-up for Texas Tech after this year's less than tough schedule). Taking a look at Texas Tech's future schedule you can see where the Houston series goes nicely in place of Tulsa. Thus, next year Texas Tech has Houston, Rice, New Mexico and SMU (unless something else has changed).

Texas Tech received it's 13th commitment yesterday from Trevor Reilly, a defensive end (6-6/225) from Utah (thanks to RaiderPower.com for the free article). Here's Reilly's Scout and Rivals profile. According to the RP article, Reilly is currently on a mission with the LDS Church, and RP had a chance to talk with Reilly's father, Russ:

"Trevor will get home at the end of January, and he plans to head out to Lubbock immediately to begin workouts," Russ explained. "He feels like the extra time will help him because he will have from February until spring practices start to focus on getting into shape."

Snip

"The [LDS] Church encourages missionaries to stay in good physical condition, so that has made it a lot easier for Trevor to work out and stay in shape. When he left, he was 6’5" and weighed 195 pounds. He’s grown an inch over the past year and is up to 225 pounds now. Size-wise, he’s built a lot like former linebacker John Saldi."

Also of note is that Reilly is apparently good friends with current Red Raider Sam Fehoko, which played a part in Reilly's decision to come to Texas Tech.  Make sure and click over and read the whole article.

Trevor, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!!

UH Game

Was all over Houston sports radio this morning. Not much trash talking just that it was good that UH is stepping up against an old SWC foe, and how it can help the program get national coverage. I really like this game 1. bc I live in houston and can attend the game when it is here very cheaply. and 2. It wil help recruit the houston area. I know DFW usually brings the most, but Houston has some good teams and players around it too. IE: Vince Young.
