LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech All-American wide receiver Michael Crabtree was involved in a brief scuffle at practice Monday that later continued with a heated verbal argument with sophomore linebacker Bront Bird outside the tunnel leading away from Jones Stadium.
No punches were thrown on the field. Coaches jumped between the 6-foot-3, 206-pound Crabtree and the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Bird before any fisticuffs took place after practice.

On the field
I have no problem with players jabbering on the field. It will happen you go against the same guys day in day out. But it’s not a good thing when it continues off the field. I am curious about Crabtree’s locker room attitude. First, one of the guys posts a rap about how he’s a punk, now an argument, and apparently, there have been other behind the scenes incidents with the guy. Anyone have any insight on this dude?

I had
a class where I sat by Bront Bird this past Spring. Overall he’s a really nice and cool guy but definitely has his opinions and was very open to having an argument/discussion (this was a sociology class where all we did was talk) with other people. Knowing that about him I feel he definitely wouldn’t have trouble calling out Crabtree on anything. Whether it relates to an exchange of words or physical contact from practice, I can see where this could happen.
Being an accountant and famous don't go together. If you're a famous accountant, you probably did something wrong.
