Texas Tech quashed speculation about the status of All-American wide receiver Mike Crabtree on Thursday, issuing a two-sentence statement indicating that he is in good standing.
The statement did not mention Crabtree by name.
"The university became aware of a possible compliance issue involving a football student athlete," said Tech faculty athletic representative Robert Baker. "We have looked into the matter and communicated with Big 12 and NCAA officials and found that there were no violations."
Before releasing the statement, Baker did not immediately return a phone message from the Avalanche-Journal.
Crabtree was seen earlier Thursday suited up and going to practice with his teammates.
