DTN Feedback
After 4 weeks of doing previews of each weeks' offense v. defense I'm beginning to wonder if you guys like them, which got me thinking that perhaps I don't need to be so formulaic with my posts.
In any event, I was thinking that I'm not above constructive criticism and I'd love to get some feedback from you guys as to what you like and what you don't like.
I'll go ahead and get out the fact that I still like doing the morning notes. It's the absolute best way for me to keep up with what's going on and I'm hoping (if you could see me now, you'd know that I'm sitting here with my fingers crossed) that you too like the morning notes. I also enjoyed working on the post-game report card (again, crossing fingers).
More than anything else, I'm trying to figure out a way to create more involvement and participation from you guys and my guess is that the long previews prohibit that type of involvement.
I've got some ideas, but would love to hear your thoughts especially before the conference heats up.
Cheers,
Seth C

Keep up the good work
Seth I am in awe of your ability to produce the detailed and insightful “post” packages.
2 thumbs up on the Morning notes and the team previews. I like the breakdown comparisons of opponent’s offenses and defenses.
Only extra thing I would like to see is a "counter" review from our opponents blog masters (a point counter point venue – we see these occasionally.) I don’t know if you can negotiate a mutual exchange of views but it would appear to be a good thing for fan exchanges and sportsmanship.
Keep up the good work Brother

I plan on
doing this once we get into conference play. It can be tough to find good blogs for non-conference opponents, but this is definitely on my radar of things to do.

I like the break-downs
But then, I am lazy and it saves me the work of going to another site to dig up and compare the stats. I like what you put out, though you may be able to condense it a little to make things easier on yourself. A simple table with 4 columns- Stat, Us, Them, and Advantage – might do the trick. MSNBC kind of does this, but their format stinks. You could also maybe just bullet point any highlights like players to note, things to watch for, etc. instead of having to type so much.
On the daily notes and other posts, it would be nice if there were a way to comment somewhere besides just the very end of it all, for continuity sake. Sort of keeping the comments with the intended subject matter.
Thanks for doing all the leg work.

This is
somewhat I’m thinking. Separate the stories so that you can comment on individual ones rather than lumping everything together.

I'm thinking that
90% of the notes in one post and then singling out a couple of stories or quotes. I tend to think that because I put all of the morning links in one post, then tend to get over-looked. I’m not sure of that, but it just seems that way.

Seth
Your posts on offense and Defense is very good. The only thing I would have to say against it is that you need to list who they have played so that some perspective can be established.
After all, looking at who they have played gives a better insight into why the stats are the way they are.
Other than that, its great.

That's a good
suggestion about the previous games. I’ll have to add that.

Seems like...
…a big time sucker for you. i don’t see many comments and if your idea is to elicit feedback or involvement, then paring the data down may be useful. There’s just so much stuff it’s hard to comment without spending a ton of time digging through it all. Personally, I like the daily updates much more. But then, I’m not a huge stat guy as far as looking at how a game will turn out. I’m very interested in post game #s.

I do like pregame numbers, but it’s hard to put them in context at the beginning of the season, but I too appreciate the post-game numbers more than pregame numbers.

feedback
is good, the shorter posts might elicit more feedback, but there’s really not much to comment on in news stories (please please please dont’ stop those, that’s my #1 reason for coming here, tbh). I like your prediction section, if we could get people to follow the format (and then they can go off on longer winded replies ;) ), and your breakdowns are good.

Will NOT
take away morning notes, but might try and highlight a couple of the more interesting things I find. I’m beginning to think people just don’t like the prediction format.
