Dropped Out: Virginia Tech (#19), Michigan (#22), Tennessee (#23), Illinois (#24).
Random Thoughts:  I moved down Georgia because USC had a more convincing win, although I think that USC, Ohio State and Georgia are 1A, 1B and 1C.  I don't see much difference between them right now and could easily be talked into keeping Georgia at #1 . . . I've already given my thoughts why I don't think Texas Tech should drop much, if at all . . . I think Wisconsin is going to be a team to be reckoned with . . . I think at some point this year, I'm going to compare the Texas Tech defense to some team's struggling offense and remind everyone that it takes time for these things to start clicking . . . Alabama got the biggest jump of the week and thought it was well-deserved . . . Am I underestimating Kansas . . . Not sure what happened with Arizona State last week against N. Arizona, but only managed a 17 point win, and again, N. Arizona wasn't a ranked FCS team, but they just missed out and I have to wonder what's the difference between a 17 point win and a 25 point win against a pretty good FCS team (other than 8 points) . . . Liked Oklahoma State's and Fresno State's wins on the road . . .

Thoughts, comments and criticisms are appreciated.

i want to say that you should drop clemson completely off your ranking, but for how weak the ACC is, they’ll probably end up back in it by the end of the season. The ACC may not have a 10 win team this year.

I’d say reward ECU’s upset over Virginia Tech with a 25th ranking for a week before they get beaten by WVU (or if they beat WVU, you can claim that you called it in ranking them).

Of the mid-majors on your list, the most impressive was Fresno State’s win over Rutgers. I’d like to see them above Utah since the Utes barely beat Michigan who is about on the same level as Rutgers (or maybe a bit worse, right now). Fresno State dominated Rutgers defensively and turned it on offensively in the second half. BYU had a game reminiscent of our own, but I still think they’re the best mid major this year.

I was very impressed with the way all but one player on UCLA’s team was playing yesterday as well. That game would have been a blowout in UCLA’s favor had Clark played the first half like he did the second. Fulmer’s team looked very bad for as much “talent” and “speed” as they’re supposed to have.

1. I came very close to dropping Clemson and in retrospect I probably should. My thought was that they’re still a talented team, but the coach dropped the ball against Alabama.
2. I like rewarding ECU.
3. I still think there’s something more special about going into Michigan and beating them, but perhaps that’s just a perception of mine that needs to change.
4. I loved how UCLA looked, incredibly impressed with their defense.

not sure I agree with several.

I honestly think that West Virginia should have dropped. The team was kept afloat solely by their QB and was lucky and I really mean lucky that they did not look like Arizona State with the scoring spread.

Not sure I agree with the Wisconsin rise either. Their QB could not hit the broad side of a Barn and the passing game stunk. I think when they matchup with a team that has a good run defense they will not win because they just can not pass worth dog spit.

I also thought that Auburn should have dropped 3 to 5 places as their offense was not very good. However, their defense was impressive against LA Monroe. But lets face it, LA Monroe is not a very good team. Thus the offense struggled to put points up. But they should not have struggled that much especially when most of the game was played in LA Monroe’s red zone.

1. I felt that if I dropped West Virginia when their win was similar to those schools playing good FCS teams, it would have been hypocritical.
2. Wisconsin didn’t have to pass the ball. I don’t think Evridge can throw the ball, but he completed 5 of 7 for a TD and a INT.
3. That was my point about comparing teams deficient in offense to the Texas Tech defense. Teams like Auburn, LSU, Penn St. and possibly Alabama all have offenses that are going to have to catch up to their defenses, much like the Texas Tech defense is going to have to catch up to their offense.

Good thoughts.

Yea I know what you mean

But West Virginia as a team did not look at good. It was the White show because he had to carry the load when the rest of the team did not show up to play.

Wisconsin though… You had some extremey athletic catches which were way off the mark where the receiver had to make the play happen. On the TD the receiver had to leap parallel to the ground just to make the catch before it hit the ground. The rest were like that but one and that one was behind the reciever but he was able to put on the brakes to make the grab. On the interception he simply lead the receiver too much and the defender was the reciever because of it. Which is why I said he could not hit the broad side of the barn. Its also why they only threw 7 times because honestly the passing game looked bad.
