Davey O’Brien’s longtime friend and business partner, Charles Ringler, believed that the accomplishments and commitment of one of Fort Worth’s finest sports heroes deserved to be honored and remembered. In November 1977, just before O’Brien passed away from cancer, Ringler and other members of The Fort Worth Club established the Davey O’Brien Foundation (the Foundation) and the O’Brien Memorial Trophy.
The O’Brien Memorial Trophy was to be presented annually to the most outstanding player in the Southwest Conference. Four years later the award was expanded nationally in scope and limited to quarterback, the primary position of its namesake. The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award® is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious award for college quarterbacks.
The Foundation’s goal is not only to honor the nation’s best college quarterback, but to inspire student-athletes to triumph both on and off the field.
Over the years, the Foundation has created three additional awards to complement the O’Brien Quarterback Award: the Davey O'Brien High School Scholarship Award, the Davey O'Brien Legends Award and the Charles Ringler Founder’s Award.
The Foundation recognizes athletes who have transformed leadership on the field into leadership in life, and, in the spirit of O’Brien’s enduring character and leadership, aims to instill a lifelong strong moral fiber in each of them.
The Davey O’Brien Foundation is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in downtown Fort Worth. The Foundation’s programs are administered by a volunteer Board of Trustees and daily operations are handled by executive director, Danielle Moorman.

Kind
of a pain to register for this as you have to wait for a response email which took over 24 hours for me. We would have to do some major catching up though, McCoy is way ahead.
Being an accountant and famous don't go together. If you're a famous accountant, you probably did something wrong.

Huh
Though I’m glad he’s at Tech, I don’t think he deserves the award at this point. McCoy is playing lights out, as is Daniel.

I gotta be honest
I’ve never heard of Corey Leonard and you could have given me 20 guesses as to who the Fresno St. QB is and I would not have guessed his name. Still trying to figure out why Chase McDanielson isn’t on the list.
Go Raiders . . .

let’s be honest: whoever thought that giving an award based on a fan poll was a good idea was seriously off his mark.

Harrell
is starting to get into his groove. Don’t count him out, yet. Same thing could be said of Crabs. Let’s see what happens in the next four games. If this team strengthens as it has in the last couple of game, they could really be awsome. Harrell and Crabs are the mainstays, but the supporting cast should really pick it up. And with the “D” showing signs of life this year, with more to come according to McNeil, then the sky is the limit. The beneficiaries of all this will be, of course, Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree, if the TEAM accomplishes what the coaches lay out for them. And id all that comes together as it appears it will, then the TEAM will benefit as well with a shot at a national title. GUNS UP!

Seth
Tom Brandstatter is the son of NFL Player Jim Brandstatter of the Falcons then the Detroit Lions where he now does the play by play broadcasting. Thus its insider politics for him.
Leonard also has a connection to the NFL through an Uncle.
Thus you are seeing some hype because of who their relatives are more so than their actual performaces.
