Dropped Out: Wake Forest (#13), Colorado (#19), TCU (#20), East Carolina (#21).

Not So Random Thoughts:  I flip-flopped between OU and Alabama as #1 all night.  Alabam has had the toughest challenge yet of any team in the country, and they were on the road.  OU's win was impressive, but Alabam's win was even better.

Regarding Florida and USC:  Florida's loss to Ole Miss was worse than USC's loss to Oregon State.  Florida lost at home while USC loss on the road.  Both Ole Miss and Oregon State aren't good teams and I'm not going to try and tell you that one is better than another, although my gut tells me that Oregon State is slightly better than Ole Miss.

I feel like I'm rewarding Georgia for making a game of it last night, but Stafford forced way too many passes and was surprised that Georgia didn't utilize Moreno more, especially in the 1st half.

I hate Auburn because I don't know what they are.  I watched a portion of Auburn/Tennessee and I'm not sure when Todd became such a weak armed QB.  Their defense was solid again, but the UT offense has been pretty bad too.  I just don't know what to do with them.

I was wrong about Wisconsin and Penn St. is the team to beat in the Big Ten.

Kansas' loss to South Florida is looking better as the year goes forward.

Seems about right for Texas Tech.  Again, I think Auburn is too high, but their only loss is to the 2nd best team in the SEC, LSU, and moving up 8 spots for barely beating a Tennessee teams is ridiculous.  Where do you think they should be?

Teams #13 through #25 are a crap-shoot.  Although I'm not sure that Northwestern will be ranked by the time it's all said and done, they're there.  Same goes for Vanderbilt and Kentucky.  I know, I shouldn't have moved down Kansas but I felt that I should reward teams like Oklahoma State and Fresno State for winning fairly convincingly.  Although Ohio State did have a nice win against Minnesota, their loss to USC gets even worse, right?  Kansas gets moved down because teams that I thought were good (USC, Florida, etc.) lost and now should probably still be in the poll, but that means teams like Kansas gets bumped down a bit.

i like it. Think you were a bit harsh on florida and a bit easy on georgia. average those two out and I think you’ve got the poll well and good.

Also, i wouldn’t rank bama #1. Georgia has struggled against teams it shouldn’t while OU, so far, has been rock solid.

Top 5, sure, but i’m not sure if i’d put them over LSU even, yet.

Tech's Real Ranking

(Copy Paste from — College Football News 1-119 rankings.

15. Texas Tech (4-0)
Didn’t Play This Week
next game: at Kansas State
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because … call this a place-setter ranking. The Red Raiders will probably move into the top ten if they’re impressive at Kansas State.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because … Eastern Washington, at Nevada, SMU and UMass. The schedule has been a joke. We still don’t know how good this team really is.

I agree 100%.

I agree with that. We are clearly top 15, but I’m not sold on top 10 – yet. We need dominate some decent competition. I’m sipping the kool aid, and really want to gulp it…but something in my self-defense mechanism is telling me to sit tight – for now. It’s one reason I really wish Tech was a tad more aggressive with scheduling. It’s frustrating to have to go through a third of the season and still not have a decent idea if our team is really good or not. I’m also pretty sure Leach/Meyers could give a s*** about my psyche : )
