I like it

Crabtree is going to have a huge game, Whitlock, Sesay, and Dixon will all have breakout games. Special Teams will live up to the Tech standard. The running game will get 100+ yards again and 3 touchdowns. Tech wins in a landslide 17-63

Ok

I took some time to look more close at the game Nevada had against a weak AA school
Grambling is expected to finish next to last this season.

So what did I take from the game. Nevada is pretty good against the run but not so good against the pass defensively. Offensively, they do well with the spread option that they run called the pistol with a heavy use of TEs. They burned grambling and most teams with the QB bootleg run pass option left or right. Their straight up running plays not not very successful. Thus they are an average school running a simular offense to the Nebraska offense in the last 90s with twist in that they use the TEs more and that they line up slightly differently. But the plays are generally the same.

The option only works if and only if you can block the DE and the Back side rush end so that the QB can make the pass run option off the bootleg.

I think given the weakness in the Tackles and small size of the blocking backs for our DEs that if our DEs play like madmen then the Nevada offense will have lots of trouble.

Given that grambling with a horrible QB passed for 226 yards with most of the completed passes for more than 20 yards. Which means that the Nevada LBs are run first and do not have pass coverage abilities that are necessary when facing a spread offense and is one of the reasons for their losses in past seasons.

I see this game as 70 to 17 if and only if our front 4 refuse to be man handled and play like madmen whose out for blood. If that happens, the Nevada offense will have trouble getting going. but like all option offenses they will get a few yards and I forsee a TD or two based on a couple of sustained drives or one off of TTU miscue or turnover.

Go Tech, Light them up and sound the Air Raid and Wreck um with our Black Attack!

Hell Yeah

What are we worried about? So they beat up Grambling, big deal they are an weak AA team. That is like saying Baylor might win the big 12 bc they thumped Sam Houston.

Chip on their shoulders

Texas Tech comes out swinging. Fresh D-Line and secondary play like they should, wear the RB’s and QB out. Nevada can’t stop our pass offense, and when they try, Batch and Woods make them pay. +3 in turnovers, Leach makes a statement. Carona fixes his follow-through, goes 100% on PAT’s, makes a FG.

TT 45-20 (Nevada tacks on a TD in garbage time)
Offensive MVP – Detron Lewis
Defensive MVP – Rajon Henley

Red Raiders 48-21

As long as Harrell throws for a lot of yards and they win I don’t really care what the score is, but I hope it’s a blowout. Makes it easier on my ulcer.

If:

we can hold the wolfpack under 20 points, I and the entire nation will give Tech some serious respect that is deserved. If this turns into a shootout, I will be very nervous about our possible BCS run. This is the nonconference game that means the most as far as making a statement goes.

All the analysts keep saying its time to step up to the plate, well, this is the time to do it.

Prediction:
I don’t think their defense is going to stop our offense 1 time. The only thing is if Harrell gets sloppy and throws careless interceptions. Tech should be able to put up 40+ points no problem. On defense, we have a team full of playmakers and have the depth to slow their solid rushing attack. I think they probably rush for 150 yards (but that is all they do on offense). We shut down their passing game and hold them under 200 yards through the air. They score one TD in the second quarter, and one in the 3rd, and then tack on a FG.

Final: Tech 45 Nevada 17

Red Raiders 52-21

This seems even to be a bit conservative as it is half time and E. Wash. is beating Colorado 21-7
So maybe last week was not all that bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harrell wil throw for 500+ yards and Crab, EMO, and Detron go crazy
Expect Harrell to play whole game Heisman is not won in first few weeks but it can be lost

Wreck’em TECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

TTU 47 Nevada 21

Couple late scores by WolfPack makes it closer than it really was. Harrell has good day, Crabtree two scores/150yds., Defense has hard time stopping Wolfies run between the twenties but shuts them down inside the twenties. Raider Power.
