Lady Raiders Basketball
I have only been a member of Double T Nation since about week 3 or 4 of the football season, but I have noticed there isn't much talk at all about the Lady Raiders on here, which is unfortunate. On other Big XII blogs, I have seen some of them do actually talk about their women's basketball teams.
Today our Lady Raiders defeated Texas at home 65-62. The Longhorns were the 8th ranked team in the country coming into the game. I am a sophomore student at Tech and attended the game. It was a great game, and I was happy to see that their was a GREAT crowd at the game today. I have really enjoyed the great crowds we've had at basketball games lately, starting with the TCU game. Anyways, the game was awesome. We fell behind early, 13-4. The Lady Raiders stormed back though to take the lead going into halftime. Starting off the 2nd half, they went on a run and got ahead by as much as 11. Much like the football game though, Texas came back and tied the game with about 20 seconds left. Just like the football game, the Lady Raiders took the lead on a layup by Dominic Seals with about 6-7 seconds left. The Longhorns committed an offensive foul and we won the game 65-62. It was awesome.
Also, we have now beaten the Longhorns three straight times in notable sporting events. We won last season in men's basketball, this season in football, and now in women's basketball. Let's hope the struggling men's team can beat Texas next weekend!!!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Double-T Nation's writers or editors.

I was able to listen to the game
near the middle part and at the end. The Lady Raiders are really starting to play well and could de a surprise for the rest of the conference in the games ahead. You are correct about the crowds, though. The men do not draw as well as the women. Lubbockites- of which I was and always will be one, even as I make my home in Austin, now- have always been difficult to encourage to attend the home games, or thse that are close enough that they could attend with ease. Just a mindset I guess. While in Lubbock, I tried to attend as many games as possible. I can’t now for many reasons, mainly me living here in Austin.
As I listened to the parts of the game I could, I was struck by the UT announcers really negative attitude towards Lubbock & Texas Tech. They were saying the officiating was poor and that it was expected —in Lubbock, inferring the referees were favoring the Lady Raiders because they were playing at home, in that “God forsaken” building" (The United Spirit Arena). This only goes to show how callous Texas people can be. It is OK if they receive perceived “good” calls from the officials, but woe be it unto any official that gives them a “bad” call. Of course, we all know there is NO RIVALRY between Texas and Texas Tech, right? Living down here, I am “blessed?” to have this attitude displayed all the time by my coworkers, as well as the general populace. It is a good thing that I put ALL of my faith in God , and not in what man does, so I may survive in Longhorn country. I will keep yelling for the Raiders, men and women in all sports (go Sally!) you can be sure. I am not purturbed, but inspired by all the negativity. WRECH ’EM, TECH!

any win against Texas is huge
We should certainly celebrate our defeats of the ole Longhorns or Lady Longhornettes!!! My guess is that Football is still all the buzz simply because of the outstanding year they had. All the Hype. Heisman Talk. you know all that. I hope you can stick with Double T as I am sure B-ball talk will pick up. Seth is pretty darn good at this thing!

I just don't have the time to properly cover
multiple teams during a season because baseball will be right around the corner and at some point, I just like to slow down a bit. In any event, please feel free to write a FanPost or FanShot on the Lady Raiders.
Go Raiders . . .
