DTN Thoughts and Criticisms - Open Thread

I wanted a forum where you might be able to express what you liked and didn't like in terms of coverage of the football team.  I did the 5 Reasons Texas Tech Will Win and 5 Reasons Texas Tech Will Lose, as well as an introduction to each team's numbers (an example).

I really enjoyed the increased participation from you guys and I'd really love some constructive feedback from you.  Let me know if you'd like to see something else next year or any suggestions for articles, etc.  Completely open forum for you guys to let us know what you think.

Ditto what kayakar said. Very informative and useful. If time were no object, and I realize it’s a very big object, a historical overview would be pretty interesting as it relates to the conference opponents. Great work, though.

Fantastic Seth!!!

I know you don’t sleep much with all you do. I have a posting schedule question. Does SB Nation automatically post what you have around 6:00 AM or do you look it over again and “Hit the button” around 6:00 AM. I get up around 4:00 and often leave for work before 6:00 and hate it when I miss the early morning posting. If it is just set in a cron job schedule ready to go before 6:00 could you schedule it earlier if you don’t have to get up earlier?

I actually get up at

5:00 a.m. and write the morning notes then. Anything posted after that is scheduled posting. Depending on the amount of news, the morning notes can be published anywhere 6:00 and 6:45.

Seth

I only have one criticism. You don’t have to post every day. You know, like Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the day after Christmas, New year’s Day… I’m sure those of us that get our daily fix here won’t have heart attacks or strokes if you slide 2 or 3 days a year, for Pete’s sake…

I just might

be all confused and have a panic attack without my daily fix. :-P

(not really)

I'm sure that some day

I’ll be able to take a few days off, but if I have some free time in the morning, I’d be looking for links and stuff anyway. Plus, I think that a huge part of the success of this blog is that I’ve been fairly consistent and I realized early on, that I may not be very funny or witty, but I’m consistent.

You do too much

DTN is what I've been looking for

I was on other boards a few years back as Tulsa Jeff and got tired of the sophomoric nature. This blog is just the greatest thing ever for a Tech Alumus. Nobody else is going to spend as much time presenting TECH specific data for each game because all the sport websites only care about the top 10, really top3. DMN is doing well to post 2 stories a week during football season unless it’s an AP game recap. I love how you find all of the Tech stories and link them for me. I honestly don’t know WHY you do this or HOW you find the time as I think we’re in the same profession, but THANKS.
P.S. I never have understood recruiting, but I sure do like to see what you and a few of our other knowlegable members have to write.

I can’t wait for next football season, because I’m spoiled in regard to watching our mediocre roundball team aftet last fall.

I appreciate

the fact that you aren’t tracking the # of posts and placing it underneath everyone’s name. We all have visited sites that when you break out your hot sports opinion, you get the “you only have 20 posts” attitude by some numbnut that has 32,000 posts by his name and thinks that gives him status.
Much of what I enjoy about Tech is that the people of Lubbock/West Texas are so genuine…..I definitely get that from Seth and most of the people that kick around a few ideas here- no posers.

I liked

everything about the blog, but one thing I would like to see more of is pictures. I like what Rock M Nation does with their light-hearted pics. I’m not taking away from the painted screaming girl because she served her duty with honor and spirit, but a little humorous pics to “humanize” our team would be great. I loved the sweater Christmas card btw.

I'll see if I can't work in some more pictures for you

but I don’t know about being funny. Humor is not my forte.

i can pick up the team picture slack. I’m pretty handy with computers if we’re broadcast over-the-air and have a good source otherwise. This is only for football, though. I don’t have the attention span for basketball.

I actually have about 100 megs of gifs (as well as the 25 gigs of video that was behind those gifs) of the national championship game. That’s the kind of bored, depraved life I live.

But on a positve note

atleast you have more posts than oldschoolraider :)
