I’m intersted in Jacob Karam. Did Oklahoma offer him as QB or as athlete? If they offered him QB and he chose us….wow.

what I get from those numbers: the big XII usually goes after the same groups of people and we get beaten out by OU and UT most often and split our battles with nebraska.
A&M is an outlier because we are interested in very few of their commits.

Is it true
Emory Blake is going to Colorado? That’s a tuff loss if this is true.

He hasn't decided that yet
Tech still thinks they can land him – give the coaches a chance to sway him. CU is promising very early playing time so he believes he can stand out there, even in a less pass-happy offense.

50/50 between Tech and Colorado. He may recommit to Tech, but he didn’t want to lead Tech on until signing day and then suddenly switch commitment. He had been considering this move since November. It’s actually a very honest thing he’s done.

Smart kids?
Chidozie, Fisher, Gray, Karam, and Stephens. I see that those kids were recruited by Vandy, Northwestern, Air Force, Tulsa, Wake, Duke, Stanford. Am I to believe we are going after smarter athletes by the schools going after some of these kids?
I also noticed Mike Stoops is recruiting Texas hard from Tuscon. I wonder if that was one of his selling points to the AZ AD…I been recruiting Texas for 5 years…

Thanks for the Rec's but
I’m disappointed in the results. The information in this fanpost took me a while to compile, but to what end? I was hoping to prove a point to Kayakyakr about recruiting struggles between Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas, but in truth it’s just trash. You just can’t draw any clear conclusions from it.

You’d have to look at not only signees, but guys we talked to that went to other schools. But if you just look at the distribution of where our recruits come from, you’ll get a good idea. Not counting JUCO’s, most of our guys come from Texas with a few from OK and NM. We struggle in the I-35 corridor a little, partly due to proximity, and partly I think due to lack of visibility. Though the visibility is improving by playing games against schools from the DFW and Houston area again. West of I-35 is almost a slam dunk for Tech, though the number of available players is much less (smaller population).
Texas and OU are good for picking up a handful of players from around the country. OU almost has to because the size of Oklahoma just doesn’t support generating enough top notch players. Tech typically has not recruited nationally well. Somehow, we have managed to pick up a couple of guys from TN the past couple of years. One of the coaches must have some roots.
Our biggest issue in competing with schools like OU and Texas is that many of the most elite (at least by the ratings) do not even consider Tech; while they will consider OU and Texas. So there is a group right off the bat that we may want to tap into, but aren’t really “competing” for.

this is def the case.
oddly, right now we seem to be competing against Auburn the most down the stretch.
