Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Our basketball team is awful.

I just watched the Mizzou game, and seriously?!  30 turnovers or whatever?!  That comes down to discipline and coaching.  I don't wanna be a negative nellie, but.....  I can't help it!  We stunk up their arena.  The kids play hard, but 30 turnovers?!  30?!    I can't take away anything positive from that game I'm afraid.  I can't believe the amount of turnovers.  That has to be a record or something.  30?!

I am too

diappointed in the turnovers, as most of them were from sloppy, lazy passing. But I came away with a feeling that the team is getting better. Going into the game, I thought a blow out of more than 30 points was possible and half way through the first half it looked like it was going to happen. I saw improved rebounding on both ends of the court and I think in this game they improved taking the ball to the hoop and scoring from close range. If Tech hadn’t turned the ball over so much, the outcome of this game could have been a win on the road. I have to cut them some slack because they are better in my opinion.

Yeah, I thought the team played a much better game today, on the road, than we did in any other game on the road this season. It was actually an improvement.

That's good.

Any improvement is good. I am just flabbergasted by 30 to’s. That # is astronomical.

Go Tech!!!

oh, definitely. But, turnovers are fixable. It’s a matter of working on team focus, reads on the defenders (a lot of bad passes), and ball fakes.

Having one thing that you really, really have to fix (ok, two: need to work on free throw shooting for our big men) is much better than having 10 things that need to be fixed.

M Sharp’s ’93 team would beat them, or play them pretty damn close.

Krista Kirkland and Sheryl would have at least made this team sweat.
