Texas Tech vs. TAMU Tonight

Don't forget that the Red Raiders take on the Aggies tonight at 8:00 p.m. on ESPNU. I'm not even sure that I get ESPNU and I have no idea what channel it's on in the DFW. I have a preview and open game day thread scheduled to be published sometime this afternoon.

Brandon Mahoney To Visit?

I was listening to Tech Talk online (I usually wait until sometime during the evening to listen, especially during this time of year) and Chris Level and Robert Giovannetti mentioned that Brandon Mahoney has de-committed from OU (which is supposedly mutual), took a visit to Texas A&M last weekend, and will be taking a visit to Texas Tech this weekend. Mahoney, 6-2/210, is a highly rated linebacker from Fossil Ridge High School, the same high school as current Texas Tech commit, WR Aaron Fisher. Here are Mahoney's various profiles: Rivals, ESPN and Scout. The Aggies already have 27 commitments, the limit is 25, so I wonder if TAMU really has a spot available for Mahoney, and as a result of having some extra spots, the Red Raiders may be a better fit.

Brandon, listen to your classmate, Aaron, and go ahead and make the commitment to Texas Tech.

Washington Hoping to Visit with Wade

UW Dawg Pound's John Berkowitz had a small blurb yesterday that new Washington coach Steve Sarkisian hopes to get a visit from DT Myles Wade.

Red Raiders and Aggies Wanting Win

LAJ's Jeff Walker, DT's Alex Ybarra and DMN's Lori Dann all write that both of these programs are desperately seeking a win tonight. TAMU head coach Mark Turgeon thinks the Aggies are making strides:

"We were closer to playing a complete game (Saturday) versus Texas, which has won a lot of games at home. We take away a couple of bad minutes in there and who knows what could’ve happened. And those mistakes were in decision making. We’re making strides. … I can’t imagine us not coming out ready and playing well. We’ve been really good at home and our fan support has been fantastic. We’ve had two unbelievable crowds at home since the Big 12 started. We expect to play well. We just have to play the way we’re capable of playing."

And Pat Knight thinks that the rivalry may not mean much when it's two teams that each need a win:

"I think (we need a win) just as bad as they need it. I think you always need a win. Even if we were 4-0 and not 1-3, I think we’d need a win. That’s the way I was taught. It doesn’t matter if your back is against the wall or not, you always need a win."
