Amendola to join Eagles practice squad: Wide receiver Danny Amendola will join Philadelphia's practice squad today, according to his agent, Tom Mills, after spending the season on the Cowboys' practice squad.

The Cowboys had a seven-day exclusive negotiating period with Amendola close on Monday. The team wanted to sign him for the 2009 season, but Amendola was reluctant after not getting called up during the season.

This is the third time the Eagles have gone after the Texas Tech product. They tried to sign him after the draft and then again after he was among the Cowboys' final cuts.

Too bad

Dallas could have used his talents this year, but were too blind to see that. Philly, though I dislike that team, or any team in that state, seem to know what he can do for them as this is the third time they have tried to get him signed. I hope he does well for them, except when they play the Cow—-ahhh who cares—even then.

Newest Eagles Fan

I just became a huge fan of the Eagles over this! They have tried three times now to get him, even after being turned down once already!!! They must really have big plans for him, at least you would think, if they are pursuing him this hard. I consider myself a Cowboys fan, but after the year Tech has had i care less and less about the Cowboys and even pro football in general. Best of luck to Danny I really hope he can turn into a star in philly!

Dallas will regret this…among about 2,315 other things they already regret.

Return game

I’m surprised they didn’t try him on kickoff and/or punt returns. That was one of the many lackluster areas this year. I think it is worth a roster spot for a guy who can help turn field position…I guess they didn’t think so, or think he could do it.

The Eagles could actually use a “Welker-type” receiver to go along with Jackson’s deep threat.

I completely agree with you

But who are we to suggest that the sports franchise that is the Dallas Cowboys would ever fail to realize the potential that Amendola could have on special teams? Clearly they know what they are doing as Pacman Jones was a standout returnman and thug this year.
