Double-T Nation Daily Diatribe :: 10.10.09

  College Football Preview: Check out the SB Nation sports stream on all of the college football games today.

  Cumbie's Coaching Resume:  LAJ's Don Williams looks at former QB Sonny Cumbie's life after graduating from Texas Tech, including a stint in the arena league, coach of an arena league team and radio analyst for Texas Tech and Captain Mike Leach thinks highly of his new graduate assistant:

"He’s just a really sharp guy," Leach said. "I think he brings a sense of stability to our players. I think everybody respects what he’s done here. He’s a great influence and a knowledgeable coach."

  Winn's Future:  FWST's Dwain Price features RT Marlon Winn, who NFL scout Gil Brandt likes, as does his position coach, Matt Moore:

Gil Brandt, the former player personnel chief for the Dallas Cowboys (1960-88) and who works for NFL.com, describes Winn as a can’t-miss NFL prospect.

"He’s a very good player," Brandt said. "What I like best about him is that he’s a big guy that moves around pretty good, and he knows how to pass protect. He’s 6-6 and he’s got 36-inch arms."

Moore said he believes the best is yet to come from Winn.

"No doubt he’ll get a shot in the NFL," Moore said. "The thing is he runs real well.

"That’s what they’re going to see whenever he tests, is he can really, really run. He’s got really good feet, and I think that’s going to really make people take a look at him real hard."

  Kansas St. Wildcat Links:  Bring On The Cats' BracketCat kicks the tires on KSU vs. TT . . . TheMercury's Cole Manbeck looks at the Wildcat defensive line with the Red Raider offensive line . . . CJOnline's Austin Meek asks 3 questions about the game . . . Kansas.com's Kellis Robinette writes that K-State needs to control the ball and previews the game . . . LAJ's Adam Zuvanich looks at KSU's QB Grant Gregory's first start . . .

  Schedule Released:  The official site released the baseball schedule for the 2009-2010 season and head coach Dan Spencer is excited about the opponents:

"I think this is a great schedule and one that is really going to push us," said Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer. "I am not one of these people that think playing the Big 12 schedule is enough if you are trying to get better and have a goal of going to Omaha. It think it's important to be tested in the non-conference so that you are ready to go to battle in the Big 12 and you position yourself well for the NCAA Tournament."

There are some interesting games early, with Michigan and TCU that should really test the strength of the program (I think Michigan has traditionally a good team and TCU always has a good-great team).
