12 times with the ball for the Texas Tech Red Raiders
With one being an 82-yard run back by Daniel Howard of a fumble recovery. Otherwise three scores, to touchdowns and a field goal, out of 11 offensive possessions. That speaks a lot for the Nebraska defense.
11 offensive possessions by the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a touchdown and a field goal, plus two turnovers, one leading to the TD return of a fumble. Speaks volumes for the Texas Tech defense.
I’ll take volumes over a lot any day, especially against a great team from a great program like Nebraska.
FOUR TIMES IN A ROW WE HAVE DEFEATED THEM—-NO OTHER PROGRAM CAN SAY THAT!
WRECK ’EM, TECH!

so....
Does anyone else think Gerald Myers is a dipsh**? No TV coverage of the aTm game is one thing. But him agreeing to move the UT game up to the third game of the season with a young team was basically him conceding to a horrible season. Had he not done that and we played them early November/late October, with the way we are playing right now, we would beat them by at least 14, they look awful compared to us now. Our young team has matured alot in a short time. Had Leach put sticks in for houston and myers not moved this game forward, we are in national championship contention this year.

ifs and buts
It could easily be said that the reason our young guys have matured so much is that they had to step up and play UT early. Losing to UT and Houston made these young guys realize that they are going to have to bear down and work/mature to get any respect and wins. If we had not played UT and beat UH I see us strutting into Nebraska and losing. There is no way to change what has happened.. all we can ask is that the guys continue to take one week at a time… dodge the trap game next week… and play their hearts out for the rest of the season.

It is all ifs and buts, but I cant help but wonder about the competency of Myers. Even with allowing Bobby Knight’s contract stipulation placing Pat Knight as his successor. Pat is a horrible coach……

C'mon
Horrible? Really?
I’m willing to give him more time.
Longevity in coaching is underrated. Ask Penn State.
I'm not worthy. Really.

Playing straight man against teams with superior athletes like Texas and Kansas will never get us anywhere… as a coach you have to work with what you have.

his contract ends this year I believe… I’ll give him this year to at least start coaching smart ball…

I think you also have to weigh the
payout that the athletic department received by playing UT and Houston. I’ve got no problems playing a team whenever, if we’re not ready, then we didn’t deserve to win. Leach signed off on the move, so if you want to blame anyone, blame the both of them. Myers came to Leach with the proposition and Leach approved. UT’s offense struggled against Texas Tech when we played then and I think Shipley’s play turned us around.
I think it’s a bit much to call this team a national championship contender, and I get your point, but I think your anger is misdirected a bit.

Leach thought Potts was the second coming of Christ though…..and I doubt Leach wanted to do anything to upset Myers or Hance after all of the contract negotiations. But he did sign off on it, I just hate that decision. We would have got the TV payout anyhow, it’s still UT/Tech. Who wouldn’t want to televise that? And I have to disagree about shipley turning us around, Houston turned us around. Cant help but think we had a bit of a “come to Jesus” meeting after that one. And about a championship contender this year, as it is now (with 2 losses) no, but we look as good if not better than Texas right now, and they are involved with every national championship talk. But I have pretty much decided that I dont care too much this year, just want to see constant improvement, win whatever bowl we end up in, and be hell bent on a national championship next year!

No, but we got the
Houston payout, which was not going to be televised. From a pure football decision, it’s best to wait, but from a financial decision, at the time I could understand how they wanted to put more money in the program.

True...
so will next season’s game be week three as well? Thats the only fair way to do it. They will be young next year, so they can still spin it off as “two undefeated teams” face off in the annual rivalry. Would rather do OU early on because it worries me a bit more with the return of bradford, but we all know that we won’t get that kind of an advantage.

MONEY TRAP
No way will you see UT or Brown fall for a trap like we did. They did not not want to catch us, like they did last year, they wanted to catch us early with a young team and a new QB. There schedule had them beat up before our game last year, and they did not want that again this year.
