Mack Brown is sorry
So I'm flipping channels last night and settle on ESPNU as they are doing briefs on quite a few of the games. Not by choice, but I happen to catch the post-game conference from the OU-UT game. I'm not sure what the question was that prompted Mack to answer this way but he felt it necessary to tell everyone that Colt hurt a finger early in the game, as that was an excuse for his horrible play. Only Mack could, in the same sentence, not only discredit OU's defensive effort (scary D-line pressure although fell off in the 2nd half) but also take a back-handed shot at the opponent's QB injury. Even the studio guys were making fun of him when they cut back.
"Sometimes a pirate can beat a soldier"? Funny. Mack? Frickin' tool.

Personally I thought
OU outplayed Texas in that game.
Both the defenses were rock solid but OU’s offense was better than UT’s.
UT got some lucky breaks since OU decided to gift the game away to UT.
Wtvr… Hope Texas and TTU go unbeaten so that we can get the Fiesta bowl berth. Either that or Texas gets upset by OSU and A&M and we win the Big 12 south.
I have said that about Mack for years
he’s trash, but then again what do you expect from a team with that many warrants out for them? So in both big games that he didn’t step up he was “sick” the entire week (even though no one knew about it until game day…) Dude, you dont deserve the Heisman! Just stop making excuses and play football. Sam Bradford is a good guy, I dont wish harm on anyone, but i really do wish that the injuries could be reversed between the two……..
What warrants?
Just curious. So, you’re now wishing injury on another QB who just so happened to go 3-1 against Tech? Stay classy bro. McCoy hasn’t been as insanely solid as he was last year, but the bottom line is Texas is 6-0 and in control of its own BCS and MNC destiny. The kid wins games.
No, I wish no injuries had happened...
but that if I had to pick one on either Bradford or McCoy it woudl be on Colt. Wrong to say granted. Colt just comes off as a tool. And the warrant on the secondary guy for punching a kid in the face in the gym. Made ESPN, look it up. I will continue to root against Texas until they play in their bowl, then im all for them winning. And I dont know if I would go so far to say that Colt wins games this year bud…. seems to me Shipley and Earl Thomas win games.
I think Colt has 38 wins now to 7 losses.
If UT gets to 11 wins, he will have won more games than any college quarterback in NCAA history (David Greene has the record at 42 wins).
He's 6-0.
And en route to being college football’s winningest all-time quarterback. Dude, try again.
What has he done this year?
How many interceptions, and how many touchdowns? UT’s special team’s and Defense have carried them through this year with big plays. Not saying McCoy is incapable of stepping up, just saying that so far this year the credit should be on other members on the team.
I hear people (not here) saying how great the game was…I thought it was horrible. Boring, almost not interesting action, completely inept offenses. I like a good defensive struggle, but there was never the feeling the offenses were even that good. I thought it was a dog of a game unless you had a rooting interest.
Twist the words and you get...
Just find a way to describe that game like the SEC Media does.
“It was an impressive showing of two juggernaut defenses, battling it out at the Red River Rivalry”.
When the inept SEC offenses play in a horrible game, the press tangles words like above….
and we all knew after watching that SEC game, that you just wasted 3 hours of your day.
NCAA Football Grad. Rate: Texas Tech 79%, Baylor 78%, Oklahoma State 62%, Texas A&M 56%, Texas 50%, OU 46%
completely agree! It was terrible offense for the most part...
Luckily Florida looked like crap and that helped UT save some face.
Agree, it was a very unsatisfying win... or as unsatisfying as a win against OU could be.
It was ugly. Turnovers all over the place. There were some good hits though, and at times some spectacular defensive plays. The game got boring in the second half, but the first half was so bizarre that I couldn’t call it boring. Just a weird game. UT was lucky to get out alive, but in a rivalry game of that magnitude, and against a ranked team playing for their season, any win is a good win.
If OU DBs could catch, they had 2 or 3 sure pick-6 opportunities from the red-headed kid who was sick and had a sore pinkie.
I’m sorry, but after all that whining last year I can’t stand the sight of Mack Brown. Or the sound of his voice.
Can you imagine the whining and excuses we’ll have to endure next year when we send them packing?
I don't even want to think about it. They'll have every excuse in the world.
It doesn’t seem like they are happy with a win. Colt had the flu, hurt finger, vaginitis, herpes whatever. That has been some sorry ass football from a team that’s supposed to be “it.”
Did anybody catch his segment with Bradford? That was lame….

I agree, not pretty so far. MiZZOU and OSU on the horizon.
If UT gets through the next 2 unbeaten, they will have time to get things rolling before the Big 12 Title game. Luckily for us, Nebraska just got exposed as being a team with a worse offense than ours. I think Colt will get things together. Everytime people doubt him, he tends to come back and surprise everyone. He’s a clutch QB, and hey, who knew he could tackle like that?
That tackle might have just saved the game for the horns...
What a bizarre way for a QB to “win” a game…!

Geesh I’m so tired of their crying…
Why make excuses anyway???
Doesn’t really make sense to me. It’s clear at this point if UT wins out they will go to the NC game.
I think you get more credibility if you just say it was an ugly game, offense wasn’t great, but defense helped us win. And just leave it at that.
Because of how the national landscape has played out this year, style points won’t really be a factor. My prediction is they will probably win out and then be exposed against either Bama or Florida.
End of the day, there really aren’t any excuses for how crappy they played offensively. Sometimes you just have to swallow your pride and be happy about a 3 point victory.
I want someone to post a link to a source
Where Mack blames the offensive performance on Colt’s injury. Please. Anyone. He said after the game that UT had “no reason to apologize for being 6-0.” I don’t get all the bitterness here for UT. It’s not UT’s fault that Gameday wanted to cover the game which has essentially determined the Big 12 champion this entire decade and between 2 top 20 teams with an intense hatred of each other.
I think UT was happy to get the win, but knows they need to improve markedly if they are to run the table and get to Pasadena.
Maybe part of the bitterness comes from having a few UT trolls always running their mouths on our sites. Just a guess.
the1austin
has been pretty good about trolling and I wouldn’t consider this trolling. A topic was started about his team and he’s just responding and adding to the conversation and he’s really not being an ass either. Trolling is when the sole purpose is to incite another site and I don’t think that’s what’s happened here.
Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation
Or....
it could be the repeated horrid officiating in Austin, or having UT fans constantly say we’re not worth worrying about, or saying that we are a big high school….. I can go on. Let me know if you want more.
Hang on...
That sounds like whining. Yes, complaining about officiating in a game where you guys have up 50+ is whining. I thought that was our job!
Still waiting on a source.

I'm sorry, Seth is that you?
Are you now going by “RdrPwr” and writing terribly constructed FanPosts that lack any source material to substantiate the “claims” you made?
Good day, sir. I SAID GOOD DAY!
No so much bitterness toward UT, though I am not a fan either.
My point really was responding to the original post. I didn’t see it and would appreciate a link too. That said, we’ve all seen Mack politic and make excuses from time to time and I guess that is his job.
Guess my point was it would be nice if Mack could just call it what it is and move on. Doesn’t really matter about debating it given UT already beat Tech.
My guess is some of the bitterness has to do with how Mack Brown and UT fans wrote of Tech from the discussion last year when in fact it was a 3 WAY TIE. And the asterisk stuff doesn’t help much either.
Can’t believe I’m even taking time some of the behavior that would cause Raider fans to be a little bitter toward UT. Doesn’t take much to find a long, long list of things to not like. Later

I noticed Colt McCoy post game babbling about how he was sick all week too. I think he needs to take some vitamins or something, somebody his age shouldn’t be getting sick twice in a month.
Not doing the work to produce links
it was all over ABC directly after the game. Had you watched you would have seen them saying this stuff. Granted they didnt blame the horrible display of offense on it, but every time they play bad, suddenly after the game we discover that Colt was sick.
I read all the post game articles.
And the team routinely said that they were happy to get the win and that OU played hard. When asked about his injury Colt said “It’s sore but it’s not going to keep me out,” McCoy said. “It’s football.” What a whiner.

was a FanPost deleted?
I could have sworn their was another thread called “Don’t worry about Texas” or something that was kinda hilarious.
