Proposition 4 = $$$ for Tier 1 status
This is not a political blog, but on November 3rd a measure will be on the ballot with implications for Texas Tech. Proposition 4 will grant access to funds for research at emerging (not yet Tier 1) universities. Regardless of whether you are for or against it, get out and vote.

if you are a fan of Tech then you are a fan of this proposition. I received my email from the Chancellor today promoting the proposition. Those against would include Aggies and Longhorns as well as those who believe that it is a waste of tax payer dollars support research. Which I guess a case could be made for the waste of tax payer dollars, I just don’t see it.
Anyways to relate this to sports, if Tech is Tier 1 then that gives us a little bit of fire when Aggies and Longhorns tell us we are morons. Even though I’m pretty sure if this passes we do not all become magically smarter just like they are not magically smarter for going to those schools, but whatever.
I would think if you are a fan of higher education in our state, then you’d be a fan of this. The more Tier 1 schools we can boast of as a state can only increase our recruiting – non-athlete scholar type recruiting – across the board.
agreed. although I can still see aggies and longhorns against this. Why has it taken this long??? I’m just putting the pieces together here.
Anyways, yes as a state we need this. And Tech certainly stands to benefit.
Look at the bigger picture people
Texas as a STATE needs more tier 1 universities.
Aggies, Longhorns and wtrvr else is all secondary.
Texas First. Everything else second.
GO HANCE
I hope Hance and has his lobbyist’s are there for Tech This is more important ,in the present , and for the future than everyone realizes. This is exactly what Tech needs. UT and A_M will veto all they can to keep it away from other universities.
