Prediction Time :: Texas A&M Aggies Edition

TV: None :: Radio: Affiliates :: Game Cast: Fox Sports
Make your prediction for the game. What will happen, who will lead the offense and the defense and predict the final score.
Synopsis of the Game: On one side, I think there's a good chance that the Aggie offense gets on track, but on the other hand, I think young football teams struggle on the road. This game will be closer than expected, but I think Texas Tech wins handily. A healthy Texas Tech defensive line will be a huge advantage for the Red Raiders and despite a Red Raider offensive line that continues to adjust, Potts will have enough time, and he and Leach will check down to the running game 30 times on Saturday night.
Offensive MVP: RB Baron Batch
Defensive MVP: SS Franklin Mitchem
Final Score: Texas A&M 20, Texas Tech 41

On that outback collie Station between the Navasota and the legendary Brazos rivers the Shermanator, the fresh wounds still stinging from the drubbing inflicted by the little apple wildcats, sifts thru the still warm ashes of his ritual bovine dung campfire searching for answers that will enable his corps to sink that razor tongued Pirate Capt’n of the high plains.
Under a starry moonless Sabbath evening our dauntless Raider Capt’n, musing on the coup in the land of tall corn knows this warm glow in his gut cannot last, ……. glances toward the east knowing that the Shermanator and his corps of farmers will soon storm the Caprock and assail his citadel. Ensconcing himself in the wheelhouse where helms of defeated foes peer down leeringly enjoying his latest dilemma, for the conundrum has truly become worrisome. The Suh house of spears sorely wounded the Pflugerite and the dreadnaught McDaniel, both are in need of repairs, but, his privateer Taylor is at the end of his convalescence and is aching to sew these farmer soldiers into shrouds of sailcloth. If the privateer Taylor is unable to maintain control of the field the Capt’n knows the choice for field generalship will fall to the Doege of the wobbly knees. The patch eyed automaton that haunts the wheelhouse commiserates with our Capt’n pointing out that he should be prepared to wield the sword and take the wraps off the ivory tickler Karam, tourjours pret, mon Capitain, tourjours pret…
First mate Ruff tells the Capt’n that the aggie field general Je rod of the cannon arm can be had when boxed and Uzoma the uzi and Tannehill along with the swift cutter Christine contained. Ruffs agents in place tell of the feeling in the farmer’s camp of acute embarrassed dismay and will enter the fray determined to "do or die". Our Capt’n’s spies tell of the corps determination to loose the wielder of the grist mill stone, Von Miller, on the Raider field general and grind him into the hallowed turf of the Jones.
The Capt’n remembers this Kines thwarted us once long ago, he shall not again, he will expect an all out aerosol, but I shall unleash a ground assault with Batches of Jeffers, batter him with a Crawford and lightning bolts of Stevens, then launch a bombardment to our racing sloops that this corps of farmers shall not soon forget. My line abreast anchored by the Mankind of the etched head will withstand the assaults of the gristmill Miller and crack his stones.
The ever ebullient Ruff with his magnificent seven, will Bird dog Christine, launch devastating flanking assaults of the Henley Sharps and follow up with frontal assaults by the Duncan and the magnus Marlon, thus, with the magic of the warlocks of Whitlock maroon the Je rod allowing the Wall of LeRon to spike the uzi, bottle the Tannehill and throw an occasional blitzkrieg by the Mitchem Cody to sink the leaky Shermanator ship.
These Raiders battered but unbroken will roll the farmer corps back down the Caprock to the collie Station with their Tra La Las withered and broken.

haha nice...
we need a book written about last season like this… you can leave out the chapters about OU and Ole Miss
Very entertaining
Once again brilliant. Helps me get through Friday without going crazy.
Interesting game. If I was not a fan of Tech and just looked at history, I’d say that aTm is due a win in this series. Honestly, I am not sure how this one will play out. Will Potts come out tentative? Will Von Miller bash his brain in? Will he come out slinging and roll for 600? I have no idea, but I know I don’t like the idea of a freshman starting on the line.
All that said, I think this is another slugfest (unlike my Neb prediction). I do think Tech wins, but I think this will be an ugly game for us. Sometimes you have to win the ugly one’s too.
aTm 28
Tech 33
Football games are like girls…sometimes you have to nail down some ugly conquests to help with your confidence in the ones you’ll be more proud of. It all pays off in the end and builds character.
My priest said back to me:
So basically you’re telling me you did alot of things you’re not proud of during your college years? Well I’m not saying I’m not PROUD :) (That’s what I wanted to say) Sorry, I couldn’t help but add to that comment.
Hey what are you putting in your coffee the last two weeks?
TECH 101…
1.) At home
2) Kansas State
3) I remember your optimistic past before the season
4) We are superior in every phase of the game.
5) They just plain SUK….
6) Opening of the new seats.Team has even more to play for.
7) WE ARE THE TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS here to stay now and forevermore.
8) Great fans like you make this program one of the best.
9) We will simply WRECK’ EM….. nough said!!!!!
Another one bites the dust
Potts shows why Leach picked him as the starter to begin the season. Defense continues to dominate.
OMVP: Potts 5 tds and over 350 yds passing
DMVP: Bront Bird 3 tackles for loss
TTU 42 TA&M 14
Throngs of Toy Soldiers seen leaving the Jones mumbling
“what happend to Von Miller?” “Maybe we can move to the Southland Conference” “Damn, these guys are good” “I want my mommy”
Offensive line
We need to remember who is on the bench for the offensive line.
Mr. McDaniel — injured
Mr. King, tackle — he played most of a game and graded extremely well.
Mr. Okafor, guard — I think he started one game; he is talented.
Mr. Byrnes, center — a veteran
Mr. Olsen, miscellaneous — a junior who has played pretty much everywhere.
Now check out the starters.
Mr. Waddell — a true freshman giving up a redshirt for his first start.
Mr. Edwards — a sophomore with 2 to 3 starts.
Mr. Keown — a sophomore making his second start.
Mr. Carter and Mr. Winn — two seniors who are mad and wish to erase painful memories.
The line is better at every position than it was in the Texas game. If Mr. Waddell struggles, there is proven talent on the bench. He is starting because the coaches think he is better than the others (excepting Mr. McDaniels who is injured). Therefore, this line will be better than it was against Nebraska because the young guys have another game of experience. Mr. Wooden said that you must take talent over experience. This line has more talent than it had and will gain experience. By the Oklahoma game, this line will be the strength of the team.
Having said that, we rout (at least 25 points) the Aggies.
We defeat Kansas decisively (at least 17 points).
We beat Oklahoma comfortably (at least nine points).
We beat Oklahoma State marginally (less than nine points).
Guns up.
Respectfully,
Lakum.
I like the way you think man
Nice last half of the season prediction.

That's my thinking
We have to get Sheffield back before going on the road to Stillwater. Potts is 0-2 in road games.
If he's out just 3 weeks like they said (whoever 'they' is)
he’ll be back to start practicing the week prior to OSU. Thank goodness for that bye week.
Tough fight but Raiders prevail
OMVP: Taylor Potts – breaks 400 yards; Doege plays mopp up in the 4th gets his second TD pass of the season
DMVP: Victor Hunter 3 x tipped passes & 5 x tackles for a loss
SMVP: Taylor Charbonnet 3 x open field tackles and 2 x blown up Aggie return guys = a forced fumble recovered by the Raiders
Score TTU 56 ATM 22

we do have a sense of humor (well some of us)

Go Raiders . . .
Double-T Nation
Trap Game
After the transitive scores from the last 2 weeks of play say we should hang over 100 on the Aggies I see our guys looking past this game. I think the first half is a combination of getting caught with our pants down from looking ahead… the Aggies playing like they have nothing to lose (which they don’t)… and a newly stirred Oline trying to gel while TP and his skill guys try to get back in sync. The rockets coming from Potts in game-time action take some time to readjust to for the receivers leading to some key drops that cost us drives early. We go to halftime tied or even down by a touchdown. Leach lights a fire under the guys and they get their acts together in the second half just enough to get the ugly W.
TTU 27 – TAMU 18
OMVP: Jeffers
DMVP: Whitlock
SMVP: Stephens
I really hope..
.. it’s not a game of missed opportunities. Raiders execute and gate out ahead of the Aggie desperation gambit. No silly Raider penalties i.e. watch the Freshman tackle. Settle down and get the run game smoking. Receivers catch the Potts bullets and get the hell up field. Defense gives J. Johnson mucho happy feet and pick him off!

Debbie Downer
Once again jdee makes another Debbie Downer pick. Its Potts isn’t it? Hopefully once again you’ll have to admit you were wrong. :)
No letdown at home, even if its not televised as I’ll be there yelling loud.
TTech – 52
aTm – 17
OMVP: Potts learned a lot sitting on the bench (even in his concussion haze) and realizes that Leach won’t bench him for leaving the pocket.
DMVP: Sharpe continues his great play.
Truth be told
I’m sticking with the Debbie Downer picks cause the first time I did it our play turned around and we actually looked like TTU football. I have done it every week since and it’s panned out well. Guess it falls under game day superstition. I’m gonna stop there so as to not jinx it, if I haven’t already…

Actually I think b/c its A&M we are pumped up anyways. A&M scores no more than 17 when it matters. And it wont in the 4th.

Rediculous
OK, I just need to quickly vent…..On the bazillion directv channels that I have access to at 6pm tomorrow, I can watch Baldwin-Wallace at Heidelberg, two iconic college football prgrams playing a slug-fest – somewhere – possibly in the continental US, or LA Monroe vs. Kentucky, a game which will be sure to play into the national picture – but not in this century. BUT I CAN’T freakin’ watch the Raiders vs. the Aggies – and I live in Houston – where I’m fairly certain by all the aTm stickers on the back of pickup trucks, buck teeth, and dazed expressions, there exists a mighty large contingency of goose-steppers. Someone throw me a beer…..CRAP!

I wrote XM last week - they aren't even carrying the game! They have Texas/Mizzou - here is their response
At XM, we regularly evaluate our programming and make changes based on our subscriber feedback and e-mail as a part of our decision making process so your e-mail is much appreciated.
We have forwarded your concern onto our Programming Department. However, at the current time no updates are planned. In the future you can contact XM’s Programming Department directly at programming@xmradio.com.

might have to be an option
We’re on 1190 which is some kind of business/stock market station, anyway, in Plano, I lose the signal when the sun sets, so my wife and I, on the one night game that wasn’t telivised just drove around inside LBJ. I doubt I could sit through 3 hours of Aggie commentators, though it might be fun if we get up on them early. I had a blast watching the Aggie coaches show on FSN this week. Shattenfreud.
If you want to spend some time in the WestoPlex, Weatherford has a station that plays the texas tech radio network. its 91.something i believe. Always tech announcers. Should be able to pick it up in FW.
Looks like there's one in
Decatur too. If and seemed like it was FM. I may try a test run to see if it comes in tonight. Also, heard some chatter that the Houston affiliate streams via interwebs. That may be the best option since I’ll be followin gametracker anyway.
My Plan
is to listen to the webcast of 92.5 The Outlaw in San Antonio
…please tell me theres nothing wrong with that plan

A&M games were on 1190 last year it sucked and you only could hear voices everyonce in a while
its kind of like when you were younger watching those illegal channels where it was blurry and everyonce in a while you would see a nipple.

Red Raiders come out on fire. Everyone thinks we are looking past A&M, but this is a rivalry game and I do believe the Tech players want to beat A&M just as badly as years before. They don’t want to be the guys who let the home streak end. Potts gets it together this game and throws for 7 TDs. Batch, and Jeffers burn through the A&M defense for 150 combined and the Tech D shuts down the A&M O.
Tech WINS 77 to 10
OMVP: Potts 450+ yards 7 TD and Batch 70+ and 2TD on the ground, 50+ 1TD rec.
DMVP: Whitlock 3 sacks.
STMVP: Matt Williams 11 extra points.
Never, ever, ever, ever
better not get caught with your pants down when that many aggies are on a road trip
My Prediction
Offensive MVP: Potts – he will consistantly swing the ball to Batch and Jeffers in the Flat and (you guessed it) Leong down the field
Defensive MVP: Defensive Ends – I was wrong last week about The secondary covering receivers until the DE’s could get sacks….the opposite happened. Sharpe and Howard will pressure Jerrod of the Cannon-arm into picks by the secondary and Henley will be there to contain the run.
Special Teams MVP: Stephens. This is the week he breaks one. ’Nuff said.
Final Score:
Pirates of the Plains — 51
Crewcuts of the Brazos — 19

blowout
tech: 56, a&m 24 omvp: i know i’m going out on a limb here, but i think one wr (im thinking it’s leong’s turn) has a monster stat line, both rb’s post 80ish yds and some tds, and potts has a system qb kind of day (in a good way). i’m going to give credit for all this to the o-line, who keep potts’ jersey clean all day. defense plays lights out when it counts, but the reserves give up some points in garbage time. d howard will be the guy on the line who makes the biggest impact, as theres no way b sharpe doesnt see double teams all day after his performance last week. Wreck Em.
by mojavereject on Oct 23, 2009 10:43 AM CDT via mobile reply actions
Agree Mojave but..
Aggie O line can’t double him because Whitlock, Jones, Wade and Perry can’t be blocked in the middle alone – one on one. So they have to roll J. Johnson out just to keep him upright. So what bad poison do you take as an Aggie Offensive coordinator?? IE roll to D. Howards side or run into B.Sharps speed on his end ? I would have loved to have seen who ran the Aggie scout team defense this week down in College Station … So I would guess this is 6 x sack day for the Raider defense.
TTU on the other hand can do exactly as they please because our O line can double up Von Miller. So yeah Potts stays upright and dissects the Aggie secondary. Raider Power Baby!

TTech D-Line Rolls.....
To me that is the real difference in the game. Our front 7 are really much better than their “Von Miller”(cheap shot artist) and so lt’s see we have seen the supposed best Dlinemen in Kindle/Suh but we fear miller? I don’t think so!!!! Moore will continue to sub until it all works out. Potts needs to stay calm and remember RB,RB,RB and then keep his reads down field and pop’em when they open up!!!!!

Tough Early...
I think it takes Potts a while to get warmed up and aggie comes out playing well. Once we score on a couple of possessions in a row they begin to crumble in 2nd qtr. Rivalry game, home crowd, and additional seats get us going as we steamroll to a big win. They score a bit in trash time.
