Keep your heads up
Yes it was an ugly game but
relax, chill out, and support your team. We still have a long season to go and there's still time to improve. We'll beat KU, we'll get 2 weeks to prepare for Okie St, and then we'll get a stern test against OU which thankfully it'll be in Lubbock. I'm pretty upset and disappointed with the game just like most of you are, but I'm more annoyed with all the negativity on the board, people jumping off the bandwagon saying "I'm going to give my money back to Tech" or "I'm not supporting Tech anymore, or "I'm joining the UT fan base b/c their a REAL program" please, leave and go join their pathetic egomaniacal fan base. Your probably doing us all a favor by doing so.
A&M was bound to have a breakout game against us at some point. It happened, life goes on, move on..... In the long run we'll be fine. We'll come out ready to go the next 4 games and there's no reason we shouldn't be able to go 3-1 and maybe 4-0. All of the games on the schedule are very winnable games. Wreck Em.

On the bright side, it took an absolutely almost perfect game for atm and about as low and putrid as Tech could play for them to win by only 22 points (with 7 of those with less than a minute left. I don’t hold that against them, though…remember last year?). I was at this atrocious thing some called a football game. These were the game killers:
-5 or 6 turnovers??
-85 yards of penalties in the first half??
-QB situation unsettled and very questionable.
-Defense overworked and could not stop the run at all. Gray, Michael, and Johnson ran at will for what seemed like about 7 yards a run while the receivers were left open time after time.
More specific plays I remember:
-Potts interception in end zone right before half that would have made score 28-21. Instead atm comes out after half and scores in 2 minutes to make it 35-14. Game over.
-Tech’s only interception getting called back for bonehead offsides call.
-Doege’s momentum killer while refs sort out (for about 5 minutes) and somehow overturn a reception that “hit the grass” (indisputable evidence? With about 3 cameras in the whole stadium? Quite questionable in my book).
-Momentum killing Jeffers fumble. Last chance to keep it close evaporated. This just stamped the overall notion that Tech could get nothing to go right in this game. For every good thing that happened, two bad things followed.
Just a couple more things…
-Did anyone else see Doege limping around after he ran that one close to the endzone? My first impulse was to think of those surgically repaired knees.
-If we can get half of these bad breaks to go our way against Kansas, we should have a chance. But the defense is going to find out a way to contain Reesing. He’s seen us once last year in the thrashing, so you can bet he’ll come prepared.
I know there wasn’t much to yell about, but did it seem louder with 6,000 more people and a lil’ more concrete?
maybe for the first 5 minutes.
The boo’s certainly sounded louder on the radio.

our defense gave up over 500 yards
that isn’t anything close to “almost perfect”
and we scored our last TD while trying to run out the clock. If we had wanted to RUTS, we couldn’t have kneeled the ball at the end.
Support the Raiders
I agree totally. Get those TTU T-shirts on and support the team. Regardless of how the game went they work hard for TTU pride. We don’t want to sound like a bunch of whiners. Pat them on the back—that’s what they need right now. You think the team loves it.
Only thing frustrating is that Coach Leach (with his PR) always puts the blame squarely on team—I disagree. Both offensive and defensive coaches did not do their jobs for this week. Accept it, own it, coaches and EVERYBODY NOW GET BEHIND THE TEAM. IT’S THE BEST THING WE CAN DO FOR TTU NOW!!!

Flat Fan Base
Hey I’m with PCraw. This was my first game this year and I have hear louder cheering at a 6-man football game. As a fan, I felt the students really never got into the game fully (minus when Deoge came in). At that point, I turned to my wife and said “This is how loud it should have been all night!”
With the new stadium seats, we really have to use it to our advantage! So, let’s get behind our team and get a little rowdy when the Jayhawks come to town next week!
Everyone knows how loud the Jones can be
but I think that this year the fans are frustrated because of the lack of continuity. Yes, the team has been bitten by the injury bug in a bad way this season, but even beyond that, there’s just no telling which team we’re going to see on the field on a given Saturday. It’s frustrating and just in the same way that the team can’t seem to build on any momentum it creates, it’s tough for the fans to maintain the enthusiasm from big wins when they alternate with stomach-turning losses.

I thought that it was pretty loud until Potts threw a pick
and that took away any momentum or energy the team or crowd could have had. This was Potts’ chance to show why he is here, I fully expected him to come in pissed off and do it. Doege should have came in at the beginning of the second half.
No kidding...
I thought the same thing. Even going into the game I didn’t sense the pregame hype. Tailgating was weak over at the Days Inn also. I expect most people didn’t think this game would be that exciting. I think the OU game will bring the noise and excitement back.
Is it true...
that the attendance did not beat last year’s record crowd vs UT? Even with an additional 6000 seats?

Texas Tech didn’t achieve the sellout it wanted on its first night in the newly expanded Jones AT&T Stadium.
Texas Tech’s Seth Doege, center, gets a helpful push from teammate Baron Batch, right, as he scrambles in front of the end zone against Texas A&M during the second half of their game Saturday, Oct, 24, 2009 at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas. (Geoffrey McAllister/Lubbock Avalanche-Journal)

However, the announced attendance of 57,733 broke the record home crowd of 56,333 set in last year’s Tech-Texas game.
Tech officials said last week that the new listed capacity is 59,011.

Good post
I truly believe if Sheffield would have started this game would not have even be close. For some reason, apparently our defense needs a Quarterback to be worth anything and give their best effort. Unfortunate it has to be that way, but that is just how this team functions. Hopefully we can win out and get to 10 wins in anticipation for another HUGE year nexy year w/sticks making a run at the Heisman.
It’s funny because at the beginning of the year, I was expecting the 9 win season, but I would have paid $1,000 for one of those 3 to 4 losses NOT to be to the Aggies. Oh well, I’ll be there this weekend with a nephew who is busting his but in Band in High School so he can be in the ‘Goin Band, and a neice who really wants to go to Tech as well. Put it into perspective that my wife and I will be showing these teens the place we met and had the best 4 years of our lives, earned the degrees to put us in professional schools, to show them the place their grandparents met over 50 years ago. There’s more to our University than football, and I can’t wait to experience it once again this weekend through the eyes of a 14 and 15 year old.
