On a brighter note...
Well, in less than three quarters of football, Michael Crabtree has exceeded the production of Darius Heyward-Bey who has played six full games. Take that for what it's worth as Jamarcus Russell may be the worst starting NFL QB in the last 10 years. Shaun Hill for SF is not much better, but Al Davis proves once again that he's a master of drafting failure.

He had another 20 yard reception called back for oddsides on another 49er reciever...the one he replaced as a starter actually.
Man wouldn't that be a spectacle to watch....

Watched Crabtree play today
he’s still got the sticky fingers, but he’s not going to see much production while Sean Hill is in the game, and only a little bit more with Alex Smith in (Hill got yanked at the half by Singletary)
He looked great..
Unfortunately, SF’s o-line is awful and their QB is pretty meh too. Seemed like their gameplan for the first half was to run for short yardage and then get sacked trying to pass on 3rd down. Alex Smith had nothing to lose today and he played like it. I think Crabtree surprised “everyone” (ie the media) by coming out and looking great right from the get go.
Hopefully Singletary will recognize the talent he has at WR (not just Crabs, the other guys looked good too) and play more like they did in the 2nd half going forward.
once the coaching staff looks at game film they are going to see he was open
on bascially every play…….Hill looked just plain terrible regardless of not having much time to throw it. The best example was the first play of the game where it appeared he was going to screen out to Crab but seemed uncomfortable to throw it and ended up gettng tackled.
This, from Peter King over at SI.com.
I think this is what I liked about Week 7:
a. One good sign (and there aren’t many) for Steve Spagnuolo in St. Louis: Danny Amendola can play. He’s a good returner and Welker-esque receiver.
-
Now, I am all for Amendola and I think his career trajectory is clearly going the right direction. But the Welker comparison is just too obvious. I know writers have this annoying need to compare people at all times. And I know why they do it (to provide a little visual reference for those who may not be familiar with who they’re talking about). But still…Why can’t he just say that this Amendola kid has some serious return chops and is a sneaky quick WR.
Should I just drop this? I feel like it’s not a big deal. At all…yet…I want to be annoyed.
: )
I see what you'er saying
It gives less credit to Amendola than is deserved and more to Welker that isn’t deserved/appropriate.
Peter King is a hack of the highest order
if reading him annoys you that much, I recommend heading over to Kissing Suzy Kolber, as they make a habit of doing a weekly takedown of his Monday Morning Quarterback column or whatever the hell he’s calling it these days.

King is pretty dang good, but he’s been shoring him self out alot lately in a Tim Cowlishaw/ Skip Bayless kind of way. Like selling his soul to be on TV and radio so he can sell his book.
I follow a golden rule in regards to media pundits of all stripes
As a general principle, I don’t think anyone has more than about a half-hour to forty-five minutes of interesting/worthwhile things to say in any given 24-hour period. Therefore, any pundit you see, hear, or read producing more output than this is full of shit and either doesn’t know it or doesn’t think his audience is smart enough to tell the difference. It serves me fairly well.
