Decommit Coming?

I was just over at the tech rivals site and on the front page it says we are expected to have one of our commitments announce his decommitment over the next several weeks. Does anyone have any speculation as to who they could be reffering to? I wonder if this has to do with the miserable A&M "performance." You hate to hear something like this...I just hope it's not one of the big-timers.

2 4*s

Two of our four 4*s were at that game… Scotty Young and I forget who the other was. I said last week going into that game I was nervous about them being there. I think the other 4* was defensive, wouldn’t be surprised if he bailed after that display.

Richards

Richards was the other 4* there. He has family ties to TTU. I’d be a little surprised if he backed out. I would think Young would see a chance to take the reigns early from that game. So I guess it was either based on radio/analysis for one of the other 4*s or it is someone else. Who knows I guess.

What the...?

Did Leach know Scotty was at the game? We could’ve used him.

letumgo

I fugure if a guy, even an 18 year old, wants to bail, let him go. I would much rather have a solid committal than an iffy one anyhow. Just think, How would you like it if your “fiance” said she may decommit? Lettergo. It just ain’t workable if there ain’t no real honest love involved….right?

I know Scotty Young is great

but I would rather it be him bail that a D recruit at this point. We have QB’s for a while, AKA Karam with his redshirt still. Our D needs some major talent quick, we can hold off on a year if need be on outstanding QB’s.

disagree. Scotty Young could be the best QB ever. I want no one to decommit. And if a committee makes his choice based on the teams performance for once week the issue is either A) we were in a close battle with another school or B) the kid doesn’t have his priorities straight.

There are so many factors that go into what school to go to. NFL potential, winning, the program, family atmosphere, etc etc etc. One loss shouldn’t affect all those things unless we were real close with another school. Lets just beat the crap out of Kansas.

no no no

I in now way want any decommits. Just think that if I had to choose between a QB and a D guy, I would rather bring in a D guy right now.

Easy come easy go at this point

When I was 18 I had a hard time deciding which flavor of instant oatmeal to have for breakfast, let alone where I wanted to be for the next 4-5 years of my life. Tech’s commit count doesn’t matter until signing day, and until then all recruits are uncommitted (at least in my mind).

+1

Frankly, I never understood the lure of tracking a teams recruits and how the class is shaping up. Seems to me you can save yourself a lot of time and frustration by just waiting until signing day and then reviewing who we got signed.

This has to be the single most frustrating job of a college football coach. I’m glad my career upside doesn’t depend on whether or not a 17 or 18 yr old athlete likes our uniforms or brand of cleats. Obviously not all use this criteria, but you get the point…

Hopefully it’s not Boone, although the Florida kids are probably the most vulnerable right now.

by HeeroTX on Oct 30, 2009 5:42 PM CDT reply actions

I hope...

its not Boone, Corker or Young. Losing one of those 3 would really hurt. Young is a special kid with loads of talent. I especially don’t want to lose him.

Many recruits are obtained for their character and also their grades.Leach is big on graduating.Hopefully these recruits that were there can be the caliber of player to say"Hey that was a bad loss but next year or when I am there what could I do to help that not happen"We are not an ATM or an 0-8 team here guys. That loss was a fluke.Tech beat themselves.PERIOD!

But If they want to back out now, better NOW that Later.

we can’t miss what we never really had, right? verbal commitments from 17-18 year old kids are not always the most dependable things. i know i wasn’t sure about anything at that age.

Stop the disrespect

Maybe young recruits don’t like teams that eat their own…

Could be, don’t you think?

I'm not worthy. Really.

Believe that it will be a player that was going to have (academic) problems qualifying to play.

For the Most Part, I take that teaser

with tongue in cheek…they may have heard something or they may have extrapolated something about a commit because he was being nice after a visit or because he is taking visits.

If a guy needs to go to another school he should do it. I prefer we have people who want to attend TTU.

It is not like anyone can or even should be able to stop him. It is best if he is going to change his mind, to do it sooner rather that later.

We all know that TTU will try with great vigor to turn the head of a player who is a recruiting target even if he is ‘verbaled.’ That is as much a part of the college football game as making a td.

Someone on another site[ SCOUT blog] said ,,it was Scotty Young. Said that the latest twitter,,,,said he was going to play baseball at UT. If this is true, bet he also ends up playing QB ., either way,if true,,sucks for Tech
