Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Continues Rampage, New York Wins On Road

Would like to know the full details and why what he did was against NCAA rules.

Seth C. Update: Follow the SB Nation story stream on this, but it appears that Prime Time is involved (I know, it's a shock to all of us).

This is great news for us when we go to Stillwater on Nov. 14th. Not having Bryant will help us greatly. Bryant is in so many ways like Crabtree but not as good. Same kind of talent for the most part even though crabtree was better, has long and rangy hands and body, moves extremely well vertically, and also does well in the open field when he has the ball.

In most cases such as these, it typically has to do with a booster, agent, or nfl team trying get him to endorse stuff, or give him money somehow.

Either way it’s hilarious and I’m glad Okie St lost it’s best WR. This all will hurt his draft spot in April no question. Might even drop him from a top 10 to a top 20 pick which is typically a several million dollar difference.

The ex-NFL player was not affiliated with Oklahoma State and the incident does not involve anyone associated with the university, the athletic program or the school’s alumni, donors or boosters, the school said. The school did not provide additional details of the incident, citing an ongoing investigation into the matter.

He's overrated in pretty much every respect but his big play potential on special teams

but Okie State is still going to miss him badly. Quick, name an OSU receiver other than Dez.

See?

Must of overlooked that texastfan.

However itnever said anything about an nfl team, or an agent, being involved though so that’s still out there as a possibility.

yea

I was thinking an agent, don’t know why but just seems like it. Ex-NFL player is pretty vague.

This is nor good

As far as I am concerned, I would have preferred Dez Bryant to have been eligible for the Tech-OSU game. I think the Tech players and coaches probably feel the same, as they want to go up against the best a team has to offer. I hope whatever happen can be resolved somehow, whether or not he can play again this year. He is certainly an excellent receiver and playmaker. With him out of the lineup, OSU will need several players step up and fill the void. If not, this could destroy their chance at having a very good year. It would certainly play out well in Tech’s favor later when Tech travels to Stillwater to play OSU. Overall, his absence could mean at least one less score a game, maybe more, as he set up several short drives with his great returns. There is still a lot of football left in the year, so GUNS UP! WRECK ’EM, TECH! AAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

Agreed.

Give me your best shot with your best players.

I'm not worthy. Really.

I dont think what he did was necessarily wrong or a NCAA infraction, but when he was asked about it, by the NCAA officials, he lied about it? This is from one of my employees,so dont know for sure.?

Per the NY Times, the ex-nfl player was Deion Sanders (hmmm, when have we heard from him recently meddling in a certain player’s business and causing problems?) and Bryant lied about not going to him house(mansion) when in fact he had. It doesn’t sound like a major infraction, so I wouldn’t hold our breath that the whole season is really out for him. Although it would be nice if they wait until after the Tech game to do it.

Don't lie

Yeah..the issue is that he lied about it. It may not be an infraction, but it’s basically like the following…someone says Bob went to the movies and sat with his ex-girlfriend and then went home with her.

Bob’s wife hears this and asks Bob if he went to the movies and sat with his ex-girlfriend and Bob says no, he was never at the movies and he hasn’t seen the girl. Then finds from another source that he in fact did go to the movie and sit with the girl, then the third statement might also be plausible. Bob’s wife has a right to be kind of pissed, make Bob sleep on the couch for a while, and expect the whole truth from Dez. I mean, Bob.

The Pokes will miss him against aTm and Baylor, but he had a nasty habit of figuratively missing the team bus for the big games.

About Dez B

Whatever the circumstances this is sad for Bryant, he is losing a lot of opportunity. I cannot delight in OSU’s woes anymore than I can our own. I prefer that college football be a bit more straightforward and less impacted by so many outside influences…if that is what it was.

I think he'll be back

this season. He panicked and lied because he thought chillin’ with Deion might be a violation. It wasn’t, but he still lied to the NCAA. OSU ruled him ineligible and is working to get him re-instated. I think the NCAA will look past it because there was no initial violation.

by djollie111 on Oct 7, 2009 11:20 PM CDT reply actions

He lied once...

Could it be that the ‘just chillin’ with Deion’ is a lie as well?

So Deion is Crabtree’s mentor and advisor and he hasn’t played football since January. Now he’s mentoring Bryant, and it looks like it will be 10 months before he sees the football field again. Nice track record. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Dez ends up with Eugene Parker as his agent?

by natkcole on Oct 9, 2009 1:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed. He'll most likely be back before the Tech game. Of course, that's

assuming the NCAA moves a little faster than it has in the past. I would rather see our team play OSU with Dez than without him. If he’s out and Tech wins the media will spin that around as if we were supposed to win.
