Make your prediction for the game. What will happen, who will lead the offense and the defense and predict the final score.
Synopsis of the Game: Oklahoma St. is most susceptible when they turn the ball over. The Red Raiders were awful in creating turnovers against TAMU and along with RB Baron Batch, the defensive turnovers helped turn the game around incredibly quickly. If the offense can keep their own turnovers to a minimum, take what the Oklahoma St. defense gives, then I like Texas Tech's chances. If the Red Raiders lose the turnover game, then OSU rolls. I think this is a very winnable game for Texas Tech if if that happens, I think you'll see both WR Lewis and DT Whitlock dominate inside, respective of their positions.
Offensive MVP: WR Detron Lewis
Defensive MVP: DT Colby Whitlock
Final Score: Oklahoma St. 24, Texas Tech 28

Close one
I’d like to see this one remain close. Hopefully our team stayed focused in the bye week. Going in as the underdog always helps in that department. I would agree with Seth that turnovers will likely end up being the key. Unlike Seth, though, I see TP as a liability in this area and I see us losing that battle. The pressure of the road game, our season riding on this one against a ranked opponent, and Sheffield nipping at his heels makes Potts force too much. When he isn’t pelting our WRs in the flats, he’s overthrowing begging to be picked off. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want a bunch of hate-replies on this… I plan to fully support TP and cheer him on as loud as the next guy. But as an objective expectation that’s how I see this one going. Batch/Jeffers/Stephens will help to keep it respectable, but the OSU D is too good against the run for our struggling O line. Winn starting at LT contributes to both of the above (TP turnovers and lack of successful running game).
OSU 31 TTU 24
OMVP – Batch after a valiant effort as TP checks to the run more and more but the Oline just can’t open it up for him to put enough points on the board to come out on top of this one.
DMVP – Sharpe in his first appearance vs a B12 South opponent. He’s been on a roll as of late and he’ll do well against a VERY stout O line, it just won’t quite be enough.

Yes a close one
Like 2007, these two teams are evenly matched and trade scores. Tech scores last to win the game. Potts plays very effectively and stays away from tossing the easy picks.
OMVP Taylor Potts – 4 tds & 425yds
DMVP Cody Davis – 2 interceptions – 1 td
TTU 41 OSU 35

The margin for eror on this on resembles rice paper
Big eaters dominate, slight edge on the Tech D line over the OSU O line, 7 x three and outs imposed on OSU, Tech def forces 3 x fumbles and 4 x take aways overall.
OMVPs H. Jeffers 3 x tds, B Carter 7 x pancake blocks – & 205yds on the ground
DMVP Cody Davis – 2 interceptions( I’ll buy that) – 1 td and 4 x pass break ups
Special teams MVP = A. Zouzalick springs Stephens for a 90 yard return
TTU 42 OSU 24

I like the W in the score line. I agree we can win but I don’t believe that TP has it in him to be the OMVP, if anything TP will be the weak link in the offense for us. If we can overcome this liability we can win. I agree with jdeeTTU here that our running game won’t be much effective against OSU because they have a terrible pass defense but a very good run defense. If we have to win here the defense has to step up just like they did with Kansas, KState and Nebraska.
Score Line: TTU 35 OSU 24

Tech 45
Okie Lite 27
OMVP: Swindall and Batch
DMVP: Rajon Henley and Laron Moore
As much as I would love to see Cody Davis get two int’s he is definitely looking for hits not picks.
I also predict a postgame rant where we find out that Gundy is actually a woman. Somewhere, in a McDonald’s working the night shift, Bobby Reid smiles.

We win, 31-28.
OMVP – Batch Batch and more Batch
DMVP – sharpe, 3 sacks.

I think this will be a low scoring game because everytime it should be high, it turns out just the opposite.
Tech 17
OSU 14
OMVP – Lewis 110 yds 1 TD
DMVP – Ford for his fumble recovering leading to the game winning TD!!

Tough call
OSU is really gonna wanna get after us for destroying them last year and they still believe they have BCS chances on the line. Being at home doesn’t give them too much of an edge as TP and SS have shown they can play on the road (UT/UH and NU). I still think our defense is better than theirs, but we haven’t played a running game this dangerous yet. I think it makes for a long day for our guys where our defense gets worn down by the 4th quarter, however I’m hoping we just straight outgun them and/or force turnovers… I think OSU will try to control the clock a bit and limit our chances…
TTU – 24
OSU – 21
OMVP – Torres continues his strong play.
DMVP – Sharpe gets enough pressure on Robinson to cause some mistakes
by RAIDERdweb on Nov 13, 2009 9:47 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
I still can't trust Potts.
But then again I hope he proves me wrong. It also depends on which defense decides to show up. …and please get the running game going. I suppose if Potts starts stinking the place up, Sticks is available.
Tech – 42
Okie St. – 35
Offensive MVP – Baron Batch
Defensive co-MVP – Brandon Sharpe (He’s making this an easy pick every week)
Colby Whitlock

We win.
We dominated them last year. I think both programs have taken a decent hit this year, but we’re still the better team.
TTU – 38
OSU – 24
OMVP – Torres
DMVP – Sharpe / Henley
I think the best indicator of our success is looking at the UH-OSU game. We are very similar to UH (except we’re better). We were a pair of rookie hands away from winning in Stillwater in 2007.. no reason we shouldn’t win this game.
by merrik on Nov 13, 2009 10:12 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
I agree. This seems like a reasonable score line. I think the difference will be our QB play. If TP can limit his mistakes then we win or else it turns into the UH game.

ahhhhh Crabtree's drop in the endzone!!
Didn’t want to think about that. That was a dissapointing loss to say the least.

Tech 27; OSU 24
Close one, with the deciding FG near the end of the game.
OMVP: Williams hits 2 key FGs to win
DMVP: Duncan (Sharp 2 & 3 teamed is kept out of backfield) as he takes advantage of 1-team

My Prediction
Pirates of the Plains: 38
Tools of the Xerox room: 28
-———————————————————————
Offensive MVP: Potts – You heard it here first (okay, not first) 400+ yds 3 tds
Defensive MVP: Sharpe – we keep hearing the Captain say how Sharpe is “putting together” how good he can be. Today he proves it. I really wanted to go with the Defensive backfield here but I have a feeling Sharpe will have a breakout game.

I sure hope it’s Potts but I have very little faith in his abilities. I just hope he can limit his mistakes, then we win. If TP plays like he did with A&M or UH we lose.

Britton is going to get behind the okie defense and burn them like a California brush fire.
LOL, I really do not do well with preditions, the above is all I can muster. My best friend called me this a.m. and asked me what the Raiders are going to do Saturday and the best I could do for him was to say " when the whistle blows that will start playing and they will stop when the game runs out of time." I honestly believe that if they do that with vigor and play with great pace, they will do o.k….whatever that is.

I think this game will be close for a half, and OSU will probably have a lead at the break. But I also think some goofy things will happen in the second half. Call it a gut feeling or whatever. But I look for either a defensive TD or a special teams TD for Tech to swing momentum. After that, I honestly think we end up rolling them.

Tx Tech 35 Okie State 28
I think they will be very over-confident playing us in Stillwater. We score 2 touchdowns early, then sputter on offense for a while. OSU leads us after that until the 4th quarter. Then we blow it open. Potts plays entire game.
Offensive MVP: Batch & Torres
Defensive MVP: Cody Davis

We start off slow at first but then Potts and the WR get into rythme. The defense plays lights out and Tech runs away in somewhat of a blowout.
OMVP: Potts/Batch Combine for 6tds
DMVP: Sharp 3 sacks
Tech Wins 42 – 21

tech hasn’t had a kickoff returned for a td since 2002?!? (i’ve been really bored at work and read almost the whole media release). I would say the Pirates are due and Eric Stephens is the man to break the funk.
He will return 2 for touchdowns.

I’m thinking along similar lines as the majority here. Close early, and then we get up two scores and bring it home. A litte more low scoring than the experts think. Potts finds his stride with the help of Batch. D-line contains and we get a pick or two.
OMVP – Batch, nothing new there
DMVP – Wall, he plays big to show off his skills in the absence of Bryant

I shouldn’t make a prediction because of what happened last time, but I feel the need to respond to some of the above posts.
I think Taylor Potts (OMVP) plays the game of his young career. I think he plays so well that when Mr. Sheffield is ready, we rotate quarterbacks, or at least that would make sense to many. Besides the excellent game from Mr. Batch, I think there will be a breakthrough game by a receiver nobody named above.
I think Mr. Sharpe (DMVP) improves even more. He will get help from both safeties.
Mr. Drewhurst (SPMVP) will be so glad to be back on the field he will be extremely exciting for the fans.
Respectfully,
Paul M. Simons

If you have to play two QBs, you don’t have a real number 1…Leach agrees with that theory and said as much on the ESPNU podcast with Ivan Maisel last week. He wants one of them to separate and be “the guy,” as he put it. I agree with him. Two decent guys never equals one really good guy.
All things being equal, I get the feeling Leach would rather it be Potts for whatever reason. But he can’t (and doesn’t) deny the good things Sheff and Doege have shown.
by Tech92 on Nov 13, 2009 7:56 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
From what I've read
SS got all the backup snap in practice. That mean either it’s sink or swim for TP or SS is actually healthy enough to play. Because Doege got no snaps. I wonder if Don Wms was a willing accomplice and SS actually got more practice and we see him start?

Defense Defense
I my roommate is from Oklahoma City, some of his friends go to OSU. He has got news that Cowboys are practicing running hard. They are practicing routines of running down the middle and over and around.
I guess our defense really have to be good tomorrow. But to me this Ok lite team is not as sharp as the team from last year and we held them to a pretty low score last year so our defense should have no problem in that regard
by jef on Nov 13, 2009 8:08 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Tech by 30
Techs offense should be able to light it up this weekend. osu while a good run defense their pass defense will be no match. Tech gets back to it’s traditional “Air Raid” game. I see both Potts and Sticks, ( the one caveat that he is trully healthy) with time on the field. First Potts…then Sticks but not cuz Potts can’t get it done. I see Leach getting time in with Sticks. He wants to see who pulls away and finds that “inner pirate”. This game could decide as importantly who’s Tech’s leader for rest of year and next.
by Raiderit on Nov 13, 2009 8:57 PM CST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
Posting up again
One more thing. I think both our qb’s are very talented in 2 distinct ways. Potts arm and tenacity and Sticks mobility and “field vision”. There r a lot of positives to this “development”. We have one powerful combination of 2 weapons at Leach’s disposal going forward. Man I’d hate to have to coach against that
“interchangeable” arsenal.
