does the big 12 have a number to call for questions?
thats so crazy i cant even be that mad, i just want to hear an explanation
Explanation form Rule Book
FYI – Have to go to 2 places in the rule book to find the answer. Rule 2-2-3 states: “A block in the back is contact against an opponent occurring when the force of the intial contact is from behind and above the waist. (Exception: Against the ball carrier)”. That comes from the definitions section of the rule book. Rule 10-3-3-c states: “A block in the back is illegal”. Note in the definition it does not metion offense or defense – simply contact against an opponent. Now, I am not saying it was a good or bad call as they did not show it on replay – and in the 23 years I have officiated I have never seen it called on the defensive side of the ball (which includes the kicking teams).
Hey
Cut the foul language please. Not needed and not appreciated.
Game day emotions.
We kinda let it slide during the open game threads.

True, but emotions run high during these times.
" Answers -- Become Resources."

without a couple of key penalties
it would be 10-0

Ruffin
making my comments from the A&M game look BAD. Props to Ruff and the D
looks like you are right
I was calling for his head….but he has called this game as good as one could hope for

The bye week gave me time to think about Potts and I decided that I was behind him no matter what. Boy am I glad that I didn’t get those “In Lubbock… There’s a Potts at the end of every touchdown” bumper stickers printed.
You’d had have a hard time selling those I’m afraid.

they have always had good defense, but their offense looks strong now too

We just need to win our games and take care of our buisness and the recruiting should be fine.

Harrison Jeffers needs to get more than one touch in the second half…he’s too good to not give him more than that.
TCU Beats UT in BCS Nat'l Championship
Things I’d like to see. Oh the cries from Austin
TCU just isn't sexy enough
They have a small stadium and it is usually empty. Tech dominates that field when we play there. They can cherry pick but can’t sustain.
that’s ok. i’m desperate. wife didnt cook tonight. lol

Havin' a nice Rum 'n' Diet mahself.
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
This just in…Notre Dame has won the big 12 north according to Lou Holtz.

TCU is a good team, but north Texas could care less. It took this ranking and ESPN gameday to sell out a game. They are usually 4,000-10,000 shy of a sellout in a pretty small stadium (40,000+). So, to me, they are irrelevant until their own town gets behind them : )
Hope you are right
I have always envied their defense, but watching their offense tonight has me worried. They are legit

The $$$ in his contract are amazing.
Something like if he stays for x years he gets a million a year for life.
It took University of Houston exactly one big win against a good team to get all of Houston excited and talking about them. Granted their stadium is small, but people were clamoring for tickets to TTU here.
Maybe it was just the TTU game?
They normally get minimal radio coverage here, but they actually got some time and buzz around town. Especially with the Texans being so mediocre. Didn’t they lose to UTEP? Was that before or after SMU? I meant there was buzz from about the OSU game until they got destroyed by UTEP.
it's on ABC broascast in Minneapolis
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
72 degrees
Oh wait, you mean OUTside?? lemmee check

33 outside. High was about mid 50s today.
We’ve had a good November so far, but it ain’t gonna be pretty from December through about May.
I miss southern Oklahoma!
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
pisses me off that the ND-Pitt game is on ABC here….I live in Cali. Who in the West would rather see ND-Pitt over TTU vs Xerox U?

We had better hope TCU does not end up in the Champ game

For Tech you're right
although as a fan of football in general it does suck that they wont get the chance.
This is how you celebrate being an Aggie

Their reputation is expanding faster than the Universe. They once had an awkward moment, just to see how it feels. They live vicariously through themselves. They are…..The Most Interesting Team in a Non-BCS Conference

Why?
He dances better than he plays QB.
by BTownTechster on Nov 14, 2009 9:11 PM CST up reply actions
furthermore
he’s dancing to “jump around” which is definitely what OU played constantly against us last year.
Yeah, I was cheering for ND
I am used to disappointment though.

NFL-wise, I am a Bears fan
So I had to change my SB Nation picture to the Sreamapillar, as that is the life of the Bears fan these days.
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
Screamapillar, that is.

i checked tcu’s recruits this year and they are no better than in years past

Potts seems to have more fun on the sidelines, we should let him stay there.
by Remington870 on Nov 14, 2009 9:11 PM CST via mobile reply actions
Why is any Techster worried about the success of TCU
Are we going to get decommits because of TCU’s success? We have a very good brand.
sorry, that must be the ziegen bock talking.

If Ruff..
took a blow to the head, head sway back and forth for a while, but stay upright. It’s physics.
Curse ESPN 360! TTU is regional blackout here in GA. Have to “watch” it on game cast!

I don't know..
why not try to draw them offsides? Say it works only 10% of the time, it’s still worth the effort. In short yardage situations…I don’t see the downside.
That just makes it even harder on our D in the 4th. I’m getting a bad feeling about this . . . .
by BTownTechster on Nov 14, 2009 9:49 PM CST up reply actions
Wish I could say yes, but I think he got a few more yards up field. I’d LOVE to be wrong.

ditto
a turnover here would make me much happier

Given our lack of offense tonight, I’m not sure that’s a good idea.

TOP isn't everything...
but it is something. When it’s this unbalanced your D gets tired and your O gets cold. Tough to play on both sides of the ball that way.
Our only good QB has one wheel, we’re down 7 in the 4th quarter and the defense is worn out. We desperately need someone to step up and make some plays to have a chance at pulling this thing out.
Did you know that sheffield played some in the second half last week?
How did I miss that? damn espn guys
oh, man…looks like we can’t hang in this one…not a huge deficit, but Tech has shown less than zero in the second half
I think you are right. We need a miracle.

so:
Sticks: Can’t move
Potts: Can’t throw
Doege: Can’t make the reads.
Answer: stick all 3 out there, have Potts make the pre-play read and call, snap the ball to Doege and have him throw to who sticks tells him to.
Or Insight.com. Jeez I hate the .com bowl names.
by BTownTechster on Nov 14, 2009 10:11 PM CST up reply actions
sometimes
sticks is great a scrambling, but he’s got this bad habit of sometimes running straight backwards. You should never lose 19 yards. Run left, run right, run forward, throw it away, or take the sack….. never run straight backwards (and spinning while doing it doesn’t help)
He’s hurt. He can’t run. He’s just trying to do the best he can with one wheel.
by BTownTechster on Nov 14, 2009 10:12 PM CST up reply actions
yes i understand
and I still love him.
but he did that some when he was healthy to (at least against NEB)
I’m just saying it’s something he needs to learn
Thank you - a positive statement
I come to this thread to share good mojo with fellow tech fans
I’m a history dork. Did you get your handle from the Piraeus as in Athens?

Dear Captain Leach...
Please put Potts in, so Sticks doesn’t re-injure his foot. Also, GET JEFFERS THE BALL!!!
